Y’know, I myself got into witchcraft because it was trendy. And then I found ancestor veneration, and started on a path of hoodoo and rootwork. Just as a note because I sometimes have an obsession with chemistry: be EXTREMELY careful when working with vinegar and/or other household cleaning products. Certain combinations (i.e. vinegar and bleach) can react and create toxic fumes. Do your research before you mix or burn anything. Also, certain acids like wine or vinegar react with basic substances like baking soda to create salts.

From my observation: "natural born witch" term is used to romanticize and create "chosen one" vibes :), but sometimes is used as shortcut of saying that one is born with some magical abilities (often associated with but not limited to witches only), usualy clair senses, mediumistic abilities etc. in active state - so one has to deal with lot of magical stuff very early in life and is forced to either become a witch (or rather pracitioner) to protect oneself or will be F-d up in life (nasty stuff - people going from one snake oil salesman to another, self-harm, self-medicating, substance abuse or worse). Most of people that are "natural born" with some abilities consider it a curse. It's like learning how to swim by being thrown overboard in the middle of the lake. Not funny :/

Apparently, my whole family has at least a bit of medium abilities. I once met a woman who could sense energies and stuff, and first thing she did was ask me if I see supernatural stuff. I don't (that I know of), but one of my aunts does (she hates it). That aunt and my grandma have both had premonitions in dreams, and my younger brother used to see things when he was little. My grandma told me it comes from her great-grandfather, and she could try too, but she doesn't want to 😂

Instead of saying, "That's not witchcraft" you should try, "That's not my kind of witchcraft." Dancing is great for raising energy, hanging herbs are for drying them for use and for warding, baking a human voodoo donut can absolutely be kitchen witchery. Its all about intention.

in the folklore of where i'm from, if you're born on a certain day you're a natural healer (curandeira), but it's kinda a different thing from being a witch (bruxa). a witch is seen as a malevolent being, almost like a creature. healing practices here are basically what other cultures consider witchcraft, though, so yeah, kinda like a natural born witch

11:45 Another note for anyone with smaller pets, particularly rats, be mindful that they have super sensitive respiratory systems and are very prone to issues, especially if you're burning things. In my house, incense, candles, herb burning, and even room sprays are heavily avoided because they can heavily impact and even be detrimental to rats health. I tend to build up a collection of candles and incense and then burn them between mischiefs 😂😭

I'm not sure about natural witch thing but in my tribe and culture we can have natural shamans and medicine women and healers where we're just born connected to the spirit realm energy.
@ChaoticWitchAunt
@ChaoticWitchAunt Жыл бұрын
Oh yes, 100% - there are definitely particular cultures that have beliefs around being naturally connected to energy. In Italian folk magic, being born on a certain day could protect you from the evil eye or being born with a caul would mean they will be a healer. I think I get tripped up because "witch" is such a broad term - it doesn't mean medicine woman, healer, or shaman. Witchcraft, to me, is so so many things and there are many things it's also not. I don't consider shamans or medicine women to be "witches", nor do I consider beliefs around being born a healer to mean witchcraft. This may also be the folk practitioner in me talking where I feel like the delineation is incredibly important.

Commenting as I'm watching but the video near the beginning where they're hanging up flowers they were gifted - I have used gifted flowers to make agua de (whatever the flower is, like roses for example). Ive then used them for anointing candles mainly, though they can have a variety of uses. I like to think that part of the sentiment of the person giving me flowers gets tied into the water too. If it was a friend, the water can be used for making even more friends. If its a partner, the water can be used for attracting even more love, or even more love in the relationship if it has continued (*Disclaimer because its KZbin and people often only ever take things at face value - if a relationship is so bad that you have to do spells to turn it around, maybe you should just leave. That said, its normal for even happy and healthy couples to constantly work on building their relationship, and that is the situation I am specifically bringing up in this scenario). The petals and stems could also be crumbled and used for dressing a candle or as something in a spell. Very handy, honestly.

Great video! About the match using techniques: in Hungarian folk belief, matches are lit and then thrown into water (accompanied with a certain charm) to tell if someone is suffering from the evil eye, and the water itself is then used to cure it. This practice is present in the Slavic cultures surrounding Hungary. So, maybe this is the origin, but who knows for sure?🤷 Also, just a tiny nitpicking... if you look at the actual witch trial records of Europe, then it was not only the minorities and marginalized people that got into trouble for witchcraft. Yes, there were a lot of those, but saying "only them" is a bit of an oversimplification. And finally the "folklore=witchcraft" thing drives me nuts... Really, your grandma was not a witch just because she knew kept garlic in her kitchen to keep away bad spirits....😮‍💨

I started trying witchcraft in the first lockdown, when I was 12, and got basically all my information from TikTok. I was mostly following things from random cultures not to do with me (nothing closed but still) and I ended up with spiritual psychosis lmao so I had to stop. Now I’m trying to get back into it but I think there needs to be a serious conversation about spiritual psychosis/religious OCD in online witchcraft spaces because it can have really serious consequences and many people don’t even know it’s a thing.

Hey! I was listening along until you said "What is a natural born witch?" I think in this case it may just be something this user believes. However, I have had TWO psychic readings in the last four years where the only thing the first one knew about me was my name, my brother's name, and a photo of him. The second only knew my name, my brother's name, and my mother's name (she joined him not long after). Both knew things, deeply personal things in great detail. Things that only my brother and I knew together. The first was a Christian woman, practicing no form of witchcraft. She told me I should get into witchcraft, it was calling to me. Last week, I did the second one. When the video chat started, she openly said, "Oh, wow. All three of you girls have strong gifts. You- you're Chelsea. Oh, wow, you're a very powerful witch. You were one in your last past life and it continues to this one. If you haven't thought of that path, you should. It's who you are supposed to be." She is also not a witch. She is spiritual though. She was absolutely correct on everything she mentioned, even some stuff that I didn't quite know about but my sister understood because I had no dealings in those topics. I think that maybe "natural born" could mean carried from a past life.

Yeah, so I believe that a "soulmate" can be more than one person in your life, because it comes from interacting with someone you've either had a past life with (which obviously you can have with more than one person, because you likely had friends, family and lover(s) in those lives, so if you feel that connection with some cute person you just met, you interpret it as "they're my soulmate," but if you feel that connection with a family member you just say "i'm really close with them") or alternatively, a person you have a soul-contract with in this lifetime, and are constantly pulled together by that karmic contract, may also be interpreted as a soulmate. A karmic contract, for those who are curious, is someone who's soul you communicated with before being born, and while working out your life-plans, decided to weave yours together. You made a deal along the lines of, "I want to learn this life-lesson, and you want to have that experience, so we'll come into each other's lives and give each other those experiences." Life plans aren't set in stone: it's like making plans in real life. Things can change, so you usually plot out multiple alternatives for how you'd like your life to go, and obviously, because we forget about these plans when we incarnate, it's up to the choices that we make to determine (knowingly or not) which path we end up going down. We feel drawn towards specific things because, good or bad, it was one of the potential options we plotted. Now, I could go into why we sometimes plot out horribly awful experiences for ourselves, but that would require a whole essay, and I'm not sure everyone wants to read that. If you want me to, let me know, and I can give it a go. Here I'll just say that there are many different reasons, and it kind of depends on the situation. You can ask me to give generic ones or talk about something specific you've gone through if you're willing to share enough info for me to understand and explain, but please, don't share anything you aren't comfortable with, and never share compromising personal info online. Be safe.❤

My tarot cards constantly sass me. Sometimes in a nice way and sometimes in a passive aggressive way. Kinda depends. But it’s hilarious the number of ways they try to tell me I’m procrastinating and standing in my own way. At this point it’s me trying to figure out all the combinations of ways my cards can tell me this. Hmm and I can’t say I believe in “natural” witches. I believe some people have an attunement to things that draw them to witchcraft eventually, maybe, but it’s no guarantee and it’s a craft which means it’s something you learn and grow, not something you are born with. Of course, my own experience is being an empath (to the point I came off as a very creepy child at time when would bluntly question someone about an emotion they weren’t showing otherwise). We also have my dad’s late sister haunting our household (I’m her godchild and my sister has her name). I can’t personally see her but it kind of becomes obvious when you stop leaving vhs tapes in the player because someone will record over sound of music just to tape the movie “Grease” (my aunt’s favorite movie). Also my brother and father were able to see her. Hmm and let’s see. Oh right. Also have the example that it’s really only myself, my sisters (I have one by blood and one not but both practice witchcraft), and my maternal aunt. Dad seems like he is but it’s only practices he learned from Native American medicine men from his youth that were taught to him. He has a medicine bag for each of us kids due to that. Sorta witchy but more folk based? It’s all from that source. But not a witch practitioner. Um let’s see oh and my brother doesn’t though I’m not sure if that is because he chooses not to label it or not. He does use tarot cards occasionally and has my dad’s weird ability to pluck information or a fragment of a memory out of someone’s head. It’s not a conscious thing. It just pops up in one’s head as if it were your own but it isn’t. Dad freaked out the guy we were getting new carpet estimates from when I was a kid this way. Dad came late to the meeting and so the guy stood up to shake hands. Dad said the man’s name in the greeting but the man had not yet introduced himself nor was he wearing anything with his name on it. Realizing what happened….we may have been a touch mean and convinced him that he had said his name to us and we said something. Poor guy was so freaked out and only calmed down after we said that…he actually had neglected to introduce his name to any of us that entire meeting to be honest. 😅 Anyway so this is my experience and why I think my family and some of our members got drawn to witchcraft but, as you can see, not all of us are practitioners and that’s ok. It’s why I don’t believe in natural born witches. Much like any art, a craft takes time to learn and has trial and error, and must have some conscious effort into it for one to do much of anything with. I may not have added a label to my craft for years but I was doing the things I was and learning and enhancing it consciously. I just took up the label aspect recently. The practices though? That part was there and I did with actual thought and effort. Anyway, jJust thought I would share (and didn’t want to clutter by adding another comment).
