When I got my 16570 in the mail it was too big. I took it to my local AD as I did not want to ruin it, and I asked how much they would charge me to size it. They were very kind and did it for free even though I didn’t buy it from them! They told me that because they are a Rolex AD they size them for free!

Thank you so much for sharing, Guy, things are not always as difficult as they seem, it is about having the right tools and knowing what you are doing, just like working on a french car. The Stig

@@JustBlueFish Worked like a charm! Thanks again! Do you happen to have any recommendations for polishing out small scratches in these bracelets? I inherited my watch from a family member and have worn it almost every day since I’ve been entrusted with it-sharing my “go-to” watch spot with my uncle’s old Breitling Grand Premier. They’ve both picked up some scratches over the years, and I’ll love to clean them up a little bit.

@@stingGraff333 If you really care about the watch I'd have it refinished professional at a Rolex Service center or Rolex Authorized dealer who has a certified technician on staff. There are some do-it-yourself things you could try but it probably won't turn out well. Maybe try it on a cheaper watch first, but for brushed surfaces you can buff the surface with a scotch brite pad and for polished surfaces you can use Cape Cod Polishing cloths. I've done both of those on cheap watches and what I can tell you is, it's not close to the same brushing or polishing level as what a Rolex looks like when it's new or freshly serviced. For a cheap watch, it's ok but I'd never use those products on my Rolex - just to be warned.

Thanks, Guy. I know this post is several months old, but I just bought a new Explorer 1 and had my AD remove 1 link. It's close to a good fit, but knowing there is a micro-adjust is just great information that I wasn't easily able to find. Heading back to the AD for their help. I'd do it myself if I had that tool, but considering I just purchased, will let them do the work :) Thanks again! This was a great video.

Good honest review, I went looking for the same model a few months back I don’t want to pay over retail, I settled for a Tudor Pelagos Lhd at half the price. Love it. I still want a no date though I would prefer the no ceramic version.

how do you apply a dab of loctite. btw I like your presentation.
@JustBlueFish
@JustBlueFish 7 ай бұрын
well you could really carefully squeeze it out the bottle onto the threads, but that could gush out like a fountain, so I'd put a squeeze onto some other surface like a plastic plate then use a toothpick or other pointing object to "scoop" up a tiny dab and then transfer it to the screws.

Different question: before I start screwing, I have 4 links on the 6 o'clock position and 5 links (plus the small easy-link link) on the 12 o'clock position (yes, tiny wrists, I know). I now want to add one link to bracelet, would you guys add it to the 6 o'clock or 12 o'clock position? I'm asking because some people like to balance it out if possible and they recommend 5+5 links, but others say it's better to always have more on the 12 o'clock position and recommend a 6+4 configuration, because according to them, it places the watch case better on the wrist. I was just wondering if somebody has advice before I start resizing, that way I won't have to undo both sides of the bracelet. I mean I could just walk to my AD and have them do it for me, but I got the right tools after all and I've always been working on my own watches in the past, I'm not gonna stop doing that just because it says "Rolex" on the dial...

Great info and this video was the best I found for adjusting my OP bracelet. If you are buying tools for this, I recommend the Horofix screwdriver for Rolox watch bracelet screw links. I bought the Horotec 1.6mm screwdriver. It is a nice tool, but the hollow ground tip is very thin and both edges broke off. I did't notice right away and it marred some screw slot edges. I ended up buying the Horofix screwdriver and the 1.3mm hollow ground tip worked great. It does cost more, but it's the right tool for the job.

i own a 1988 air king with the with the over-lapping snap style. (it is not shown here) are the screws the same size? (i would think that they would be?) I see in another comment that a type of glue is used to hold the screw in place...what is best for this use? I'd hate to think I was "successful" at a DIY, only to have the bracelet and the watch fall off my wrist! YIKES!! any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Very brave of you. The photos of the Rolex provided bracelet adjusting kit Authorised Dealers have to buy from them for a couple of thousand pounds and what I was told about them by the AD I got my Rolex from: they use colour coded screwdriver bodies that are torque screwdrivers preset for different screws and they fit colour coded heads. Dealers must have information about each watch what colour coded torque-set body to use with the correct sized colour coded head. They also have like you mentioned a plastic block with different slots to hold the bracelet steady whilst you work on it. I freaked out mildly when told they'd used what we call 'Superglue' cyano acrylate as I remember from when I had a racing bike and professional Tour De France mechanics use good quality bicycle ball bearing grease on all threads to enable them to hold the torque you put into them and also enable you to unscrew them. I suppose if you have a lot of watches you may want to do it yourself, but I would take it to a Rolex AD with this kit. One is pictured on the IG feed of the NYC AD Joey who is @thewristwatcher_ from memory as I no longer follow him and also the Hawaaian IG account of @jeweler_in_paradise a Rolex AD there. There is a solvent sold with some Superglue incase you bond your fingers and I'd like to know what Rolex recommend.
