We had a plumbing issue while on Carnival. The water was leaking on the floor from the tank. When it happened we were leaving the cabin to go to dinner. We alerted a nearby cabin steward, who then called the plumber. By the time the plumber arrived, we had all of our towels on the floor trying to soak up the water, and the carpet was getting wet. We left and went to dinner while they worked on the problem. When we got back, the problem was fixed and the bathroom was clean and dry. You wouldn't have even known something had happened, except for the fan on the floor drying the carpet. The next day we were surprised with an apology note from guest services, and a bottle of champagne and some chocolate covered strawberries. That wasn't really necessary, but it was appreciated. 😊

On our last Princess Cruise we had problems with lack of hot water in our basin. They came a couple of times and it was fixed each time but then the problem returned. Each time we got a call or visit from the housekeeping manager to check and each time we got boxes of chocolates. They got to the bottom of it on the third occasion. I liked the fact that a manager was checking each time and the chocolates we nice too!

We had the same problem with our toilet on the Regal Princess. We called maintenance on the phone and they came and fixed it with 20-30 min. They didn’t even have to come in our room - fixed it from the hallway access. Very pleased with the speedy repair. Good job Princess ❤

For anyone who is not a regular cruiser, all cruise ships have toilets that operate like this, it's not unique to Princess, so if there's an issue somewhere in a sequence of toilets it can affect several, it's not necessarily your one that's got the problem, it's just a consequence of an issue somewhere else. You will notice in the gangways leading to the cabins outside each one is a discreet locked cubicle, this contains much of the plumbing systems so it can be accessed by staff.

I had the same problem in a regular balcony room on Princess. When I reported it someone came and had it fixed in less than an hour. They also gave me a generous shipboard credit which I definitely didn’t expect. No complaints.

We had a horrible experience on a Princess ship with the plumbing where the toilet wouldn’t flush and we were confined to our cabin with Covid. Throughout our cruise the toilet broke and wouldn’t flush and was repaired 12 times. A large section of cabins was affected. We were given a FCC of $500 for our inconvenience.

We have a boat with two full bathrooms. The heads have a vacum flush system. On the wall in each is a plaque "If you did not eat it first first do not flush" We have had this boat since 2005 and use it 3 to 4 months a year. Based on us and any guests obaying the sign we have not had any problems. Based on fellow boaters if you clog a pipe it is not fun fixing it. Hope you found the person who fixed your problem and tipped them well.

Yes, we have always found our stateroom attendant is a key person on our cruise. An extra tip at the end of the cruise is always given.

We had a nightlight in our HAL cabin (cruising around Iceland last month) which couldn't be switched off. Was a nuisance because so extremely bright. We already had to make sure the curtain would close properly because of the long long subshine, midnight Sun as nice as it is - some time you just want enough darkness to sleep. We helped ourselves by rolling up a towel, put it in front of the light and asked the Stateroom Attendant to please leave it there.

This exact thing happened to us on the Caribbean princess. They fixed ours rather quickly . On another cruise on the same ship one entire deck had issues with the toilets. It took them all day and half the night to fix them. They also had issues with the AC on the same deck only the port (larboard) side. we did not have the issue but several of my kids did.

On my last Princess cruise the toilet just stopped working. It didn’t back up, it just would not flush or if it did, it didn’t stop running. The plumber had to come twice and did so very quickly and resolved the issue. The next day, we were surprised as each of us was given a souvenir mug for the inconvenience. We were happy with the quick service and appreciated the mugs.

I had the similar experience on the NCL Gem. I had a problem with the drain in my shower/tub as well as the light in the shower was out. It was repaired within an 1/2 hour. They sent an electrician as well as a plumber technician

Had a similar toilet problem some years back. Walked out of room to go to customer service and plumber was in the hall. Neighbor cabin that shares the plumbing access panel (back to back bathrooms) had already reported a problem. Told the plumber we had same problem. Both of us were fixed later in day. Got to look inside the access. Ship plumbing nothing like house plumbing...

I have had not on ships but 4 times beenin hotels with toilette probs..one I got half fixed myself in the flood and the Manager was cool and said..before i take half price off your room this ecening can i offer you a job in the mainternacne department? yes if we are not just worn out and can be kind...usually they just bend over backwards...even on older mainstream ships...I am goijg to really notice the more for pay room service situations...I loved the no chardge Blt's for a meal in addition to the free continental B-fast on Carnival...that was a huge perk to me way back then...because a big cost on land. You are such a good person Don. So glad room is quiet...I love the tv situations and just the understated elegant decor and the Piazza's with those carved metal details...and mosaic floors...to me this class of ship is the prettiest by far, but have not seen more than old Star Princess in person. For someone that gets excited as heck about the navigation it would be fun to sit with binnauculars looking at the Bridge...you are a great sport Don.

I was on the repositioning of Nieuw Amsterdam this past April. At least twice a day I would flush just liquid and nothing would happen. Would get a ringing and water gurgling sound for about 15 minutes. It would then flush on its own. They were never able to fix the problem. lol.

That's what happened on my first cruise. It was very choppy ocean,and folks were walking the same way. I told the folks walking that way, " It a shame that we are walking this way, without drinking anything.

Glad you were able to get the bathroom issue resolved. We've always had good response with any cabin problems without too long of a wait. Have experienced ship movement and almost bouncing off the walls a few times...the worst for us was the trip from Boston to Bermuda with some pretty rough seas. A lot of seasick pax on that one. We were the crazy only 2 showing up for dinner at a table for 10 in the MDR. Had to hold down our glasses for the meal!

Glasses are supposed be wet on the bottom to help keep them from sliding, but it’s not foolproof if the seas are really really rough!

We were on Caribbean from July 12-28. Our cabin had very little cold water. Made having showers difficult. It was either burning hot or hot. Maintenance tried fixing it. Our AC was so strong we had to put a towel over it. We were in A702. I got my steps in doihg the Promenade laps

That is great they fixed it! I was on Majesty of the Sea on a 5 night cruise and the bathroom floor was always flooding but not sure where it was coming from (i.e. wasn’t water splashing from the shower). It never did get fixed and it wasn’t great walking through water every time going into the bathroom.

Don, the first thing I learned watching your videos is to never bid on a cabin, and how it's worth it to pick your precise cabin because you can't control the location of the cabin or if it will have an obstructed view. I learned that from you Don. It's one of the few things you taught me that was actually useful! How are you making mistakes that you yourself were so adamant about? And it wasn't even a free upgrade you paid $5000 on top of whatever else you paid! Sad.

i must be a very lucky travel gal - 93+ cruises and never had ever had an issue on a cruise ship. many different ships over my 40 years of travel. have been upgraded (prior) to covid more often than not on both NCL and Holland.

Could be worse. On my last cruise(Viking), my toilet quit flushing. Viking maintenance immediately worked to get it working again, but there were sporadic outages through the night. When we left the boat the next morning for our excursion, there was a bright red truck parked on the dock close to the ship. A loose translation of the Italian signage on the truck was “nuclear clog finder”. It turned out that the entire toilet waste system of much of the entire boat was affected, so Viking brought in the folks with the detector that uses radiation to look inside the closed plumbing system to find the clog(s). That red truck was there most of the day, so the problem must have been severe. We only spent one more night on the ship, but everything worked fine until we left.

Our hallway carpet on our recent Carnival Cruise was always drenched, seems they had many plumbing issues the whole 10 day cruise to Hawaii. It also was very smelly. We made sure to wear good shoes walking down the hallway, I think next cruise I'm bringing my rubber boots.

Yes we had a problem with our toilet in Caribbean princess, it happened during the night, I just sent a message on the medallion and with in minutes we had someone coming to fix it, they did not have to come in the cabin! They repaired from the hallway!

Had this issue on Crown a couple of years ago in Alaska. Sadly it happened a few times, but Princess would get on it fairly quickly. Someone a couple of cabins down was putting baby wipes/diapers in the toilet it turns out.

We had a toilet flood the bathroom at 2:00 am. Hubby woke up to use the bathroom, flushed and water just started flowing. That also was all liquid and the maintenance man told us the same thing about one clogging several cabins away can cause problems all the way down the line.

I've woken up in the middle of the night a couple of times and the toilet wouldn't flush and the water in the sink wouldn't work! I think maybe they turn it off for something or other some nights when they don't think ppl will be using them.

a few cruises ago, the toilet stopped flushing because the vacuum malfunctioned. I was high in status so I went to straight to guest services to inform them. When I mentioned it another guest heard and out loud "that;s the same with my cabin.". right away guest services sent a maintenance person and it was fixed within 15 minutes.

On carnival ship sunshine we had a.c. problems so we were given a new cabin after complaining several times .the new room had a bad sewage smell .the room steward came in and started saying caca.meaning poo poo. We said yes it stinks in here.they tried hard to fix it but wasn't helpful.they gave me and my family friend that was sharing the cabin each one hundred dollars off our bill at the end of cruise. Not much when all we wanted was to be cool and not smell poo daily.

I was in the same area of the world as you are now on the Crown Princess and my bathroom stopped working. We were at sea for two days, no parts, so I was without a bathroom for those two days. Had to find a public restroom for two days. Not fun. Apparently this happens a lot.
