I feel as though most of the folks who don't get the joke in this probably avoid sad things as a whole and therefore can't find the humor in them. This is a funny way of describing a crappy truth that people deal with constantly and the folks that find inspiration from cat posters feel sad when presented with it. I can't argue with them. Those are the people that are happy the rest of the time as opposed to sad all the time and laugh at cleaver ways of describing crushing truths. Well done Gethard.

To be fair, the bully has had good luck on his side (bigger physical stature, became rich not through skill or effort but just luck). He's probably still a terrible human being, so he's not one to envy. Unfortunately, plenty of shitty people do well in life - just look at Trump & all his cronies - but I'd still rather be decent and less "successful" than look good on paper but be an arse.

One kid that tried to bully me in highschool (he wasn't successful) died after a car accident in his 20s. I couldn't possibly enjoy that fate even though I didn't like the guy. The point is, you're never going to feel good about a bad relationship in the past. You have to learn from those past experiences to deal with similar people in the future, but don't spend excessive time thinking about your childhood bullies.

While I don't condone bullying by any stretch of the imagination, you literally had the solution to your problem at the beginning of your set. When he bitch slapped you and asked "what are you going to do about it" that is when you go in swinging. And yeah you would've likely lost but that is how you earn respect in middle and high school. If anyone reads this comment in that situation then never back down, never give up. Stare life in the eyes and snarl.

This isn’t comedy. This a guy with victim syndrome who is wanting sympathy and attention. He attempts to use humor in certain areas only as a means to keep you from daydreaming away from his story of what a hard life he’s had. Anyone that has to go out of their way to tell you how bad they’ve had it, has never had it bad. They just know that in 2021 we promote victims and victim mentality so this is his way of seeming interesting and important.
