Great discussion here guys. I didn't really appreciate before just how good Justin is at analysis, but it takes a good interviewer too ! Having said this, I disagree with the implication (around 09:40) that Fiji wasn't providing a strong test of the AB backs (ie that they had more time so that made them look better) I think it was more that they just had a great game and they would have looked great no matter who they were up against.

One thing that Razor is exceptionally gifted at is long view planning to assemble teams for winning runs. Watch and see, at the moment in replacing Fozzie, Razor has to rack up wins. Good, bad, or ugly he has to win first and foremost. After he has established that he can win he has to develop the team into a WC dominating team. I absolutely believe he will.

For what its worth, NFL teams also have a huge coaching system. Head coach, offensive coordinator, Defensive coordinator, passing game coordinator, run game coordinator, running backs coach, offensive line coach, wide receievers coach, tight ends coach, defensive backs, linebackers, defensive line, special teams. Sometimes you have guys handle multiple duties, but its still a ton of people coaching.

Justin doesn’t think part of the problem of the attack against the rush defense is the slow delivery of Christie. And the team just needing more time together and working on getting use to a system that hasn’t even been completely put forward to them yet?

Speaking of exiting strategy, length of kicks seemed to be a real issue for the all blacks which flips to being a massive strength when Barrett comes off the bench. McKenzie, perofeta and Christie are all a bit weak in the distance for touch. Mark telea doesn’t have a great boot and sevu can be a bit hot and cold. Jordie and beauden have great distance but Jordie plays out of position for clearances and Brady is currently playing off the bench. It will be good to have Jordan back if he can find form fast. Not sure what Caleb’s kicking is like.

Rieko is not a center period. He needs to be put in space. On defence he is accurate with his tackles but his physicality is not there to put pressure on opposition to cause a turnover. Billy has the natural ability to make the big impacts so that the loose forwards to slow or turnover the ball. Rieko is a winger and upsets the balance of the team at center.

Let's just clear some things up here. Firstly I agree there is certain players who needs to be changed out, Ioane being one of them. But everyone keeps on making this big thing about rush defense, Ireland has it, how many tries did the All Blacks score against them? The Springboks have it, how many tries did the AB's score against them, England same story. The boks couldn't score one try against 14 All Blacks in the final. The AB's outscored them even with 14 men. There's ways around it, and you as coach can only do so much, then it's in the players hands, and Razor said it, they need to execute it. But then it comes back to selection. Pick the right players to execute. Ioane should not be the starting 13, thats the biggest area that feels the rush defense. Stop with the Savea to 7 thing, he's arguably been the best player in the world for the last 3 years at 8. And give Finau time. Kaino didn't become the best 6 in NZ over 3 tests, remember.... He's only played three games as an All Black.

This is my first exposure to Mr Watson & I’m not impressed. Mr Watson appears to have a bee in his bonnet re certain things. Mr Watson should appreciate & state that he speaks for himself & not all of the AB supporters nor the listeners to SENZ. Mr Watson appears to want to be ‘noticed’ by being controversial by asking ‘sensational’ questions with some of his questioning & the repetition of his own opinions as opposed to letting the guest/expert answer subjectively. Multiple Coaches is just the same as Members of Parliament. The Prime Minister wouldn’t be able to do everything so there are Ministers etc. When Razor was coaching Club Rugby at Sumner, he wouldn’t have had as many assistant coaches, if any, but as the level of rugby gets harder, the demands are more, more hands on deck are required, more ‘expertise’ for positions is needed, a few sets of ears are needed to bounce ideas of, a few other sets of opinions are needed to challenge ideas etc. Razor being Head Coach will have the final say but it is a team ‘of coaches’ game these days. As others have said, look at the many other Top Tier Nations as to their Coaches & Support Staff. The ABs might even have fewer coaches than other countries. As per Mr Watson’s insistence that he DEMANDS Revolution vs Evolution, he is way off the mark. Should Razor & co really show all of his/their cards 3 years out from RWC to allow the opposition to copy or work out a counter plan? If Mr Watson has any ideas then he should tell Razor & co in private as opposed to telling the ABs competitors via t’internet. In RWC 2011 when Tony Woodcock scored the ABs only try from a line-out move, how many times had we seen that set move before it happened? I think maybe once about 4 years (or so) prior to that but it certainly wasn't a 'signature' move tried in every game. Jeez, Mr Watson, this is a journey. One step at a time. One has to walk before one can run. In my opinion the SARU left SR Rugby & joined the URC & flooded the Gallager Premiership & the Top14 with as many players as they could in the lead up to RWC23. There were a couple of players in Japan, including Malcolm Marc who left RWC23 due to injury, but the core of the SA RWC23 Squad gained European experience of the NH conditions & most probably some IP of NH Players/Country specific tactics. The NH season stopped in plenty of time for the SA players to go home for Camps etc to prep for RWC23. The rest is history & most of those players are now back in SA enjoying the sun. There are still a few in Europe but not the numbers there were pre RWC23. Well played Rassie & the SARU. As for the ABs, I wanted ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ & in these first 3 games of Razor’s tenure, I have seen that. There will be hiccups along the way but I am optimistic of the journey.

When playing v ENG blitz D, Perofeta bombing a certain try in test 1 didn't help. Perofeta bombing a certain try again in ENG test 2 didn't help (Jordie bombing a certain try v Fiji was annoying too but not a blitz D). It's all about EXECUTION. And there is no "right time" to upskill a new combination in beating the "in your face" defense. It's a process. I expect Razor will take a considered risk at some point before going to RSA. Also, the difference between a legit centre like Billy & a transposed winger like Reiko, is that Billy's 1st instinct is to set up his outsides under pressure, whereas Reiko will hold & rumble. It took Tana & Ma'a years to adjust. Reiko is a slow learner it seems. There's no doubt in my mind that Billy will be at #13 at RWC2027.
