The AB have been playing the same game for sometime now. Relying on individual brilliance is fine against weaker opposition but the Irish and French have shown how great teamwork will always win out. The way the Crusaders dismantled the Blues was another great example. But that requires a great coach. Anyone who watches Northern hemisphere rugby would not be surprised at this latest result. Australia is playing better rugby than the AB at the moment and Argentina also look better structured, not to mention SA. Could be a rough 3 months.

The AB's had many plans. When Plan A does not work do Plan "A again". When Plan "A again" does not work, do plan A again "but not as well". When Plan A again "not as well" does not work, do Plan A again but "really badly", and then if nothing works let the players go rogue and try to win with one off efforts, that should do the trick. Foster coaching manual 101, "hide my inability to coach behind the individual skill of the players". Fiji would have scared the *%*% out of the AB's.

SA perspective. When Alistair Coetzee lost 57-0 in Albany. He had two years and we were going nowhere. Tumbling down the rankings. Was simply unacceptable and we didn’t need a review, Rassie was appointed and the rest is history. Do not fall for the trap of supporting the coach when the country has realised its simply no longer All Black rugby. And honestly it’s no longer. Just like we got humbled … the ABs have been humbled. And we know it’s a National crap feeling. What more do you need to see or know? Need to see a drubbing in SA? There was a series loss against Ireland at home, first loss to Argentina, humbled in Paris, outplayed in 2019 semi, one point wins, etc, etc. The writing has been on the wall for two years now. Back to basics time and cut out the rot. Oh yes and Alistair was also a lovely bloke but it was our pride and history that needed saving.

spot on, my bru. absolutely nobody is supporting Foster. I don't even think there was this much demand for John Hart to be replaced. I've never seen NZR come out with a statement like they did yesterday either, especially one that was not a ringing endorsement of the coach. I suspect that statement was just to buy them time to make a few phone calls early this week. Foster's position is simply untenable. Yes, Ireland are a good side but before game 1 the ABs were talking about the early onslaught and having to start fast and stop Ireland getting a roll. Yet all 3 tests they conceded a try within 5mins. Just weak as the proverbial. Sure you can blame the players too, but a team that doesn't believe in the plan are never going to commit to it a perform 100% because if you don't have faith in the plan how can you have faith in what your mate's doing? thats been the glaring issue for me, they are just playing like individuals and seem to have no faith the support is going to be there. compare that to the previous 10 years where they'd just throw no-look passes knowing that someone would be there. also, how many games did they win that they had no right to? yet you just knew as long as they were within striking distance they'd find a way to win (Dagg scoring v SA, Fekitoa v Aus, Crotty v Ire).

@Jimbo Whitehouse we don't NEED to stick with Foster, but looks like they will. No expert on the UK domestic scene, but I don't think Eng or Ire had many other options knocking on the door (and Eng had spent a lot to get Jones). But we have Robertson basically kicking the door in. Compare domestic/super coaching records and Robertson is the easy choice. Foster had intimate knowledge of the team for years, so a massive head start, and yet his ABs record is the worst of any professional coach. Any coach in living memory in fact. Foster couldn't turn the Chiefs around, and he won't turn this around. He's a failure and should find an obscure European club to get back to basics and start his career again.

From an Irish perspective it seems the ABs don’t have a real game plan apart from kick to contest and then hope for moments of individual brilliance (which with players like Sarvea and Jordan you will always have). To me the ABs are a talented team who are poorly coached. I am surprised to hear that there is a reluctance to make management changes because of the size of the pay-offs involved - maybe I’m being naive but I thought NZ rugby was flush with that private equity money. I hope someone who knows more about this could explain what the situation is there.

Whats interesting from an Irish perspective is that we were in the same situation when Andy Farrell took over, we ended losing a good few games in the reorganized 6N, the autumn nations cups in 2020 that some respected pundits we're calling for Andy to be sacked which is unthinkable now, but it wasn't till we finally beat England in the 2021 6N the first time since that diaster of a game in 2019 that the Irish public and media started to understand the game we wanted to play, I guess the difference between us back then and maybe NZ now is that during that difficult period the players were coming out and saying that were clicking in training and we like the rugby Andy wants to play and basically to give us time cause it will come and now look at us 2 years later winning a series in NZ and being no.1 in the world (which I think is untrue France are 100% the best team in the world rn)

Jesus said, "I tell you the truth no one will see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me." For God so loved the world that He give His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the World through Him. For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, and All who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. " If you want to be sure of Heaven and avoid the other place below say the following prayer sincerely from your heart." Lord Jesus I repent and am sorry for my sins forgive me. I forgive all who have offended me. Come into my heart and save me. I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and baptise me with your Holy Spirit. Fulfill your plan and purpose in my life. "I recommend you read John's Gospel especially chapter 3.Gbu.John 3v3v22,John 14v6.

As an Ireland fan I know that it is either ecstasy or disaster in NZ rugby and that it has to be concerning when records that have stood for decades tumble. But NZ rugby has bundles of talent. That will never change. The WC is still a fair way away and when you do have that much talent it can be turned around quickly. Also it may have been palatable in the past just about for NZ to drop a test at home SA or one of the great Aussie sides. But this Ireland team are very very good. There is huge talent there now as well which is a shift in world rugby. I do think that the coaching is the big issue that NZ have right now to sum it all up and if I were them I would replace Ian Foster with either Joe Schmidt or Scott Robertson. That will give an immediate boost and the best possible chance to turn things around in time.

Hey NZ, Chillax. You lost a couple of games ...so what??? It's like that for the rest of us outside New Zealand who love rugby. You win some, you lose some. In the 6 Nations, any one of four teams could win each year. So you appreciate it when your team wins. NZ don't have an entitlement to win every time. Look at Ireland's record in the 1990s. Absolutely awful. Now we appreciate each win, without a sense of entitlement. On another note, I really appreciate the respect coming towards Ireland from New Zealand since Saturday. Thank you. I love your country 🙂, and yes, New Zealand will bounce back

And meanwhile every record there is dear to the All blacks is smashed not by Opposition but by the NZRU stupid decisions , to carry on with crap I gurantee you if we had even our 3rd rate coach , irish would not win a single match against all blacks - thats not entitlement Replace andy farrel with the worst coach in ireland what do you think would have happend on the ireland tour to NZ'ed - I think you got youer answer right there charlie All blacks had a similar dip in the late 1990's and the same politics is repeating itself again - SAD but true

Lack of game plan, smart, skills, accuracy, leadership, tempo, confidence, fight and courage well said Marshall. Our game plan should be prioritising on our strengths such as attack, because that fixes confidence, skill, tempo, and make smarter options. Our weakness such as the mauls and breakdown shows we are not picking the right players that can compete. Poor game plan and wrong players doesn't allow for good leadership, and all points back to the coaching staff and like Marshall said "we are way off the mark" Whoever the coach is going forward the game plan must be focussed on the DNA of All Black rugby and the right players that have the talent to execute.

When Plan A again "not as well" does not work, do Plan A again but "really badly", and then if nothing works let the players go rogue and try to win with one off efforts, that should do the trick. They’re being beaten on the ground, lineouts, mauls and collisions. It doesn’t take a fool to realise the forwards are the problem. Grunt required. The physicality is lacking and with Brodie gone….it’s halved. Only grunt left is Cole’s, sarvia and whitelock. The rest have been playing ruck and run rugby and forgotten it’s Union. Job one is win the forward exchanges. Until this is realised fully and new stock is found the results will continue not to come. Thorne, low, Fitzpatrick, Brooke,Hayman, etc. they were grunt first and offloaders second. A general “Back to basics” in the pack is required. Ireland could have all the structures they want…if they didn’t win up front, they would be on the back foot and it would count for zero.

I remember forward packs that starved the opposite of ball and backs that worked as team instead of individual brilliance. It seemed that forward pack had at least one forward that had a bit of mongrel about him and a forward that was a master of the grey area in rucks and mauls and finally a captain that new how to talk to the ref and possibly given him some assistance.

The ABs looked tired to me. They normally have more energy than the opposition. Fitness which gives them the edge in terms of supporting and in terms of not making mistakes. Lack of physicality in the pack causing lethargy everywhere else? Other factors? Over-training? Sickness? The Irish are physical and are good in the backs. I’d say under Farrell, they’ve moved up at least one notch recently. They and France were significantly better than other teams in the 6N. Top class now - especially with Sexton fit (even if long in the tooth). So, they and France have definitely got better. Don’t ignore that fact!

no, just the randomness of the officiating. 2 identical collisions, 1 week its red, next week its yellow. wtf? and our mate Wayne Barnes again... an aussie bloke gets whacked in the face in front of the ref, nothing. a bit later he chucks a dumb headbutt and gets rightly carded, but had the ref done his job in the first instance it wouldn't have escalated to the latter. didn't see the SA v Wales series, but I hear a welshman got binned for hands in the ruck when nobody touched the ball? and the amount of players getting taken well away from the rucks and mauls is also a blight on the game. some shockers in the highlights I saw from Ireland, and seems to be quite common in the previous 6N games I watched. rub of the green is one thing and you understand refs will miss a few things, but the inconsistency each week is just a joke and it's ruining matches. I haven't watched a game live for well over a year now (not super, provincial or int'l) because I can't be bothered. I just wait for the report and then watch the replay if it sounds worthwhile. how can you claim they do homework on the refs when you have no idea what the refs will call from 1 week to the next? rugby is in real danger here and I fear the RWC will be blighted by sending offs next year. Unfortunately it will take a farcical final before WR finally realise they've stuffed up (yet again).

@@user-yb9hi3us4p Ladies and gentlemen, a perfect example of throwing a strop. There's always been dodgy officiating, there always will, the difference now unlike the good old days, we don't have players leaving the field without an ear and no one sanctioned, a player spear tackled into hospital and no one carded. I and the Irish commentary team I was listening to felt Porter was going to get a red, but the situations were not exactly the same, Porter was stationary braced for a much taller player to run through him, the fact that there was a clash was more to do with the attacker than the defender where the NZ card was at best 50/50, but defenders need to tackle low and stop blaming refs when things go against them.

@@porcupineinapettingzoo ladies and gentleman yet another perfect example of lack of comprehension. seriously, what is wrong with people these days? just inventing things in their heads. what are you on about missing ears and spear tackles into hospitals? get a grip, son. anyway, let's examine your argument here. Porter was stationary and braced for the impact. So by your own admission he saw it coming and had enough time to get into a lower position to avoid the head clash. Definitely a red card under WR rules then. The 2nd test was a more fluid situation for sure, and the Irish player came back on the cut. change of direction at high speed. it happens. however my argument has always been that neither of them are cards or even penalties, they are both accidental. collisions. Seems a reflection of society that anything that goes wrong must have someone to blame. sorry, but sometime sht just happens. no player deliberately goes for the intentional head clash to take someone out! and as I've said before, it has nothing to do with making it safer, it's all about the optics of cracking down. long term brain injury is seldom caused by 1 or 2 big head knocks. its all the continual small impacts without proper recovery that build up damage in the brain and prevent it from healing properly. Ryan Jones retired mid-30s? I'm guessing he played through high school, so that 20 years of hard tackles rattling his brain. No wonder he's got some issues. Even a legit low tackle in the ribs can cause the head to snap back, and what do you think happens to your brain? It smacks against your skull. But no head impact so no need for an HIA, carry on son. Hit again in a ruck clean out, fended off, maybe bumped out of a tackle or two. The number of small concussion events in a game can be high for a forward. So that's what they need to focus on if they want to make the game safer. But how you play rugby with low impacts, I have no idea.

You know the good old days when you spent more time watching live rugby than writing about it. personally I prefer now when instead of being battered and bruised for three games and being sent home humiliated, all the tests at the weekend could have gone either way after half time, I can't wait for the world cup, refereeing will never be perfect and you make a great argument about headtruma but I want to see rugby a remain a contact sport, but I wouldn't have had a complaint if Porter was sent off, he knows the rules, you recognise that the situations were not the same, so why complain about inconsistencies and the need to stop letting cards ruin games after a great game wasn't ruined by a red card because the situation was not the same.

Alot of the AB players are not up to scratch. Look at the job Savea and a couple of others did in the second half, they tried to drag the team through a tough test. Getting rid of the coach is one thing, but with the rwc around the corner, it will take too long for a new coach to put their stamp on the team. You need to look internally first. Some of those players need to look at themselves. Whe you have players like mccaw / carter with a lot of tests in their boots, not alot of people are coming through. It is a rebuild.

If any team will learn from a loss it's the ABs. It would be a mistake for the rest of the rugby world to think that there has really been a seismic change in the game simply because a northern hemisphere team have finally managed to win a series in NZ. Records are there to be broken. It was a great achievement for the Irish team but I'd say it's never going to be easy to beat the ABs, now or any time in the future. If the 'boks want to beat them in the coming series they're going to have to play out of their skins. Overall, though, it's good for rugby. We need several good national teams with a chance to win the World Cup, not just the usual three who have won 8 out of the 9 cups to date. Unfortunately, rugby is imbalanced in that way. There are simply not enough top national teams in the sport at present. We have to forget about the amateur era. Rugby was a different sport then, not really comparable to the professional era. For example, the Italian team of today would probably wipe the floor with any team, including the ABs, from the 1960s. However, in this professional era the ABs still set the standard that all the rest have to come up to and exceed. Interesting times.

Looking in from outside, expectations in NZ are unrealistic. Marshall said he expected NZ to win 3-0. Against a team that's won against every team in past 2 years and lost only once, in Paris, by a single score. What sort of fantasy/arrogance is this? Breaking the duck in 2011 (just) and backing it up in 2015 seems to have clouded memories of what happened before. NZ is still the premier rugby nation, but you're not out on your own, ahead of everyone else. Currently Ireland, France, and South Africa are every bit as strong and along with NZ are the top four sides, clearly currently ahead of the rest. And the last five games were Ire, Fra, Ire, Ire, Ire, with two to come away to SA. It's not like you're losing to every team, you're only playing the very best.

Ireland have lost more than once in the last two years and have lost to England as well as the last 3 matches against France

@@JGrowl-er9md but you did say two years and they lost to England in nov 2020 as well as to France in October 2020 and in the two six Nations since so 3 times to France and once to England in the the last two years. with a 37 year old 10 depth is a real problem in some positions!

NZ obviously don’t have the pop. to build depth any more, like in Europe, numbers and talent way down...

@@thrusta100 in reality more than half of Ireland's current team come from a very small number of schools and rugby is only the 4th sport there by participation. mainly down to coaching from academy level up.

If you’re lining David Havili at 12 he needs his Crusaders teammates (Mounga , Faingaanuku , Sevu and Jordan) beside him cos they have chemistry to utilise each other on attack. Beauden and Jordy are good players but are INDIVIDUAL players.

Havili is not a test class player. Fainganuuku isn’t test class at the moment. His defence in the 2nd test was atrocious.

@@SuperEdge67 I’m not saying they are , I’m saying their backline had no chemistry . They were literally getting bailed out by Will Jordan. I looked at the team sheet and knew Ireland was gonna win lol

We are even missing the simple draw and pass these days, which Africa was guilty of when they were in a massive rut. Replace the coaches bring in razor, and some of these players that get automatic selection. Cane, Aaron Smith, beauden Barrett, and even codie Taylor. Will Jordan is our best fullback, Ardie, Cullen grace and Ethan Blackadder backrow. Brad Webber and either Christie or Bryn hall at 9. Tukeaho 100% in the 22. Hopefully Mackenzie will be back in contention soon
