"Marvel??? The BEST". I'm always amazed by the knowledge level of the mechanics shown for so many games, but in Marvel you are undisputed GOAT. The way you understand the sinergy of the teams is something that surprises me, as the assumed button smasher I am 😂 And managing to keep it secret just showing the real form when it was needed is part of a great strategist.

By far my favorite FGC set I watched live ever. the Golden Age of FGC Twitch, carried by MVC3. Chris G was the major villain in my eyes, and has inspired an absolute hatred for zoning. Justin Wong was my favorite MVC3 god, cuz, in my opinion, his team wasnt quite as good as the tier specialists (flocker-zero, fchamp-phoenix, chrisg-morridoom). Seeing xmen with akuma anchor was cool, and i reaaly like all those characters from their own genres. Figures he concocted a scheme to win it all, THATS what it took to get around the chrisG morridoom (i emphasize chrisG cuz he is the only one to spam so effectively in mvc3). I actually felt something watching this, thank you

Great video, as someone who doesn’t know much about Marvel, the team building aspect of the game is so interesting, and I love how something seemingly so small, like Justin rearranging the order of his team, can make such a big difference in his gameplan

RyanLV's strategy is also impresive. Chun's ability to stay in the air and get meter while staying away from Morrigan's fireballs enables Phoenix very quickly. And Morrigan's assist also enables the strategy.

1st pt. I believe Justin Wong has credited practicing Storm push block shell kick into Tatsu as the biggest reason he won this match. 2nd. I think Storm's 50/50 with tatsu isn't true. It's reactable, I think just like Magnetos. Close, but not a true 50/50 like Wolverine.

As a long time observer, I think it's the hidden missiles which make Morridoom so difficult to deal with. If it wasn't for that assist and its multihit homing nature, people wouldn't have to play as defensively and there would be more openings to get in (and Morrigan wouldn't be bailed out and/or be able to reverse initiate her own combo in the event she was starting to be comboed before the missiles hit). I imagine UMVC3 would've been a very different game without making Doom such a strong solo character while also being the best assist character in the game (in vanilla MVC3, it seemed fewer top level people used Doom since he was much more of a liability on his own).

Capcom shouldn't have allowed for Morrigan to build meter during Astral Vision. They didn't let strider get meter for his level 3 ouroboros, despite it having an extremely short duration compared to Astral vision. If it wasn't for that, I doubt Chris G would have performed as well as he did. Because he struggled before he formed that team. And I believe Morrigan's meter gain during Astral vision wholeheartedly contributed to that.

Great video! I am not trying to be tedious with this question, but while Justin kept that team quiet, you do think it adheres to a strategy that is well designed to fight Chris gs team whether he knows about it or not right? But Justin got an extra leg up, possibly a whole game, off it being a surprise as well? I think about the idea of saving tech and how it's basically dead sometimes and this video is one of the biggest examples of it working in fgc history I think, altho I'm pretty new so I only know history from videos like this. Awesome video, I really love stuff like this. Great work!

Not to take any credit from Justin but it's literally just an order swap. I find it hard to believe he would need to practice for "6 months" to make this work. He's playing the same characters. It's excellent counter play on Justin's part.
@mongodroid4842
@mongodroid4842 Жыл бұрын
tbh swapping your point character out can really fuck up your initial neutral game, something that is very essential when you're dealing with morrigan
@Af0
@Af0 Жыл бұрын
@@mongodroid4842 sure - but it's Justin Wong we're talking about. He would not need 6 months to practice the neutral with Storm cos he was already playing her anyway. I think it's more fair to say he kept it a secret for 6 months ...rather than outright practice.

I remember those years where Chris G was dominating. It was awful. Nobody liked him or his team. He was getting cussed at and even assaulted at tournaments. The stream numbers for UMVC3 were going doing down fast as well. Nobody wanted to see ChrisG or his near broken team. We watch UMVC3 for a fist fights, earned comebacks, Wong Factor, and MooriDoom was nothing like that. And we despised ChrisG because of it. Justin Wong brought his classic team, and his fights were earned. We all cheered when Justin Wong won that year. He brought back Umvc3 from being written off like MVCI. He brought back UMVC3 that you can see still win with your favorite team; you just have to strategize.
