I've been so lucky to meet Myles several times and he is an absolute gent. Back in 2011 I was taken to soundcheck at a show the week after I'd lost my dad, I mentioned it to Mark, Flip and Brian who I was talking to whilst Myles was busy. I'd used Wonderful Life at my dad's service just days earlier as we were both fans and my dad had taken me to shows when I was younger. Someone whispered in Myles' ear when he was coming over to me and his face told his reaction, the way he walked to me and greeted me, asked how I was and said thank you for coming...I'd never met a musician or celebrity who gave me that *feeling*. I was already emotional because of the days prior to the show, but Myles also decided to soundcheck Wonderful Life whilst I was standing in the middle of this empty arena. I have so much time for this man.

You can tell that Myles Kennedy is a nice guy and that story more than proves it.

I had the luck to meet him at soundcheck meet and greets that same tour, he was very sick with his throat that day, but he still took time to talk to me, I was an 18-year old young musician, and I gifted him my latest EP, named after one of his Mayfield songs, he was so interested and asked me questions and was really excited to speak. I will forever hold that memory in my heart!

Throw some Mayfield Four on for your friends and don't tell them who it is - watch their brains melt. He still does Mayfield tunes sometimes when he's doing his own things here and there.

To say that Myles Kennedy is "underrated" is so understated. It is a crime that this Icon of rock music has not been given the recognition he deserves.

On one of Slash's albums, the sound engineer had bought a studio quality tape recorder from the 1960s and decided to use it on the album. He said the only two singers on the album good enough for tape were Myles Kennedy and Beth Hart.

I actually met Myles when I was quite young. He was picking up a custom guitar that my father made for him and he was taking it for a spin. He played the shit out of it and I've been a fan ever since. I wore out the CD we had of his band at the time, Citizen Swing. I was so excited when Alter Bridge came out and so happy that they have had such incredible success.

I've been watching JHRA for a good couple of years. This was THE best show ever! Why? Aside from the fact that I love Myles solo, w/ Alter Bridge or w/ Slash and The Conspirators, the sheer camaraderie between Justin and Myles. Not even one boring second between these two greats. Both laid back, on the same page, laughing, totally getting one another and vibing over that thing they both love and do so well - music. ~ Justin got to speak about his experiences, too, which was beyond great but he still managed to interview Myles so incredibly well w/o it feeling like an interview. As someone else also commented, I had a huge smile on my face for the 1:22:59 minutes. You would think that they're best friends w/ the ease going on between the two of them. ~ Thank-you, my dear Mr. Hawkins! Thank-you, my dear Mr. Kennedy! I hope to see you together again in a year or so. Much respect to both of you! ❤

I think this is the best interview you've ever had on the channel. It's not cos it's Miles, but rather because it's a conversation between 2 brilliant rock vocalist of a similar elk. You get what I mean? What a brilliant experience you've just shared with us. Thank you so much! Also, I love how Miles took total advantage of this interview to "interview you" to his benefit. That was absolutely brilliant!!!🤘 And make sure you follow-up with the idea of starting a project band together seriously. 2 killer vocalists who are also great guitarists.. that's a brilliant idea! (+ save on profit-sharing from having to bring in a lead guitarist). Make it happen!!! Can you imagine a (potentially super) band came together over the humble beginnings of a KZbin channel interview. This is history in the making yo! Make it happen!!! I've left too many exclamation marks in tis comment. I hope it's not for nothing.. TC.. 🍻

When Slash 4 came out I thought it was the best complete album experience that I’d heard in years. I felt like I did as a teenager in the early 90’s. It still confuses me why more people aren’t talking about this album. Had it been released 25 years ago it would have been massive.

Yes! you are performers, not robots. your presence is what makes the show a truly unique experience. I believe when you master your art, you are confident you will “deliver” and you have the extra luxury to connect with the audience to be in the moment and be with what is. Very zen-like. I have similar experience when delivery a speech or a training, I let go of controlling the result or the timing or whatever and feel fully present to the people in the room and enjoy sharing this moment with them. That’s the beauty of doing this, and avoids getting bored with delivering the same content over and over again. Thanks again for your authentic presence Justin, it’s pure joy watching and listening to you. You make my day. ✨💛✨

Myles F’N Kennedy! Awesome interview- thanks! He is top five all time vocalist for me - and I’m a rock / metal fan in my late 50’s … I’ve witnessed them all. He’s also a fantastic lead and rhythm guitarist- in the classic rock style similar to David Gilmour ; which in AlterBridge exceptionally complements the modern metal stylings of his song writing partner Mark Tremonti. Awesome band! ‘Top one’ of guitar solos of all time with these two together is correct sir!! Definitely in the top tier👍

Alter Bridge, Myles Kennedy. My favorite band and singer. So funny as just before Justin mentioned about it's like cheating on the audience i was thinking the same thing and Myles was like "Busted", so funny lol. So true about the mistakes/ mishaps while performing, i say embrace it, it's what makes a show more human, fun and real. It's great Myles can share his "un-rock like" methods of getting through things, true and down to earth. I myself use the "universe" as a way to ease my worries. That was a insightful, great dialog between you 2 guys, thoroughly entertaining.

Great conversation (not an interview) by two guys hanging out talking about their favourite stuff. Fantastic. As an aside, I see people commenting on what an under rated/under appreciated musician Myles is. Not by those who know he isn't. The rest don't matter and I for one don't care about them. Their loss. I still recall an interview with Slash after the first album with Myles & the Conspirators, with Slash reciting of when he and Myles first got in the studio together he had no idea what an excellent guitarist Myles is "I learned stuff from Myles because his technique is far better than mine!" Superb hour and 20 odd minutes there Justin. Thanks!!

We are all flawed of course, for sure… but your work ethic and determination.. your introspectiveness and thoughtfulness.. your candor.. and your ability to write emotions to paper in a way we can relate to in whatever way it hits home. It doesn’t fall on deaf ears. What a great man to aspire to, and emulate. Appreciate your work in Alter Bridge and the rest of the bands work as well.
