Questions: 1. I have been bidding on auctions for storage locker units that have been abandoned. How would you divide the cost of the sellable items? Such a wide range of things… books, clothes, furniture, toys, etc. 2. You talk about your wife’s mad packaging skills. Would she be interested in sharing her knowledge with us? I worry about the fragile items. Coffee pots, stemware, etc. 3. Thank you for all you do. You are appreciated.

I thought I was so smart and well organized when I briefly experimented with prepackaging my items...until I sent the wrong package to someone. Now the only time I will prepackage is if I'm selling a multi-item (lot) listing. Then nothing is misplaced or left behind. Prepackaging a book lot is one of the few examples when the box or media-mail shipping method will not change. Never tape up your prepackaged items, you still need to "see" everything inside before you ship!

I sold my 2 jet skis a few years ago thru Ebay. Very easy to set up shipping with a trucking company. Buyer gets to choose the trucking company of their choice with the best rate. All steps are provided while listing your item.

Thanks Justin. I’ve been confused about sell similar and relist. Everyone has an opinion. I’m small potatoes but I plan on ramping up in January. Just retired early at 62 and this is a pretty nice way to generate some additional income. I sold off a lot of my corporate life clothes which generated 3k, now I’m wearing Birkenstocks and sweatshirts and need to find inventory!

Yeah to be clear I don't make $10k gross currently as I am not solely focused on reselling (even in a part-time capacity) -- I am split between not only the day job but KZbin, building an app, etc. But in the past when reselling was my only side hustle i was regularly doing $10k a month gross.

Thank you for mentioning demand. So many sellers just assume that everything on ebay will sell and that demand comes and goes. Applying every hack to improve a listing will matter very little if people aren't looking for it!

Another great video! I’ve done the sell similar, delist/relist and revise listing and I personally do not think one is more advantageous over the other as far as the algorithm is concerned. I will say to those struggling with sales, maximize every character you can in the title. You never know what keyword someone uses to product search. Just my opinion. I think it all falls into the method you prefer and what has worked.

Chiming in on the freight thing. My boss and I were buying pallets from a Seattle thrift outlet and shipping them to Portland, Or. We used a LTL broker (less than a truck load) to shop carriers that could do the job. Most of the time it was Saia, Yellow or Oak Harbor that delivered the goods. Thank God we had a loading dock and a pallet jack at the office. Keep up the good content!

I do a bin system shelf 1 is BIN A1 - A18 then on the SKU if I assign new inventory I also add the purchase price. Example BIN A1-300 so I know the inventory is located in BIN A1 & the item cost $3.00 that's how I do my inventory system.

A store subscription is beneficial even if someone doesn't need all of the listings because of the reduced final value fees. So if someone sells about $2500/mo or more than the savings pay for the store ($22/mo). If a lot of electronics then its less than that, but if media only then its more.

I delivered mail for a year and a half here in the republic of Texas.. from what I understand the “regular” (which is fancy term for the mail carrier who is assigned to that route permanently i.e. they attained the status of having been granted that route.. it’s theirs… They DO get some tiny fractional compensation for picking up and scanning packages “scheduled pickup” and as much as it’s a hassle, it’s part of the job and it can be enjoyable bonding with your customer like that. But in most cases you’ve got an “RCA” handling your mail, RCA stands for rural carrier associate or you could have a CCA (city carrier associate) just depends where you’re situated. For the RCA, it’s a pain in the butt but it’s also part of the job & they get paid for it. Just not like the extra that the full-timeer professional. Hope this helps.

If you have access to one of those kiosk machines where you can scan your packages to get the tracking started, and a receipt, then the post office now more or less “owns” that package, that’s way better than standing in line, waiting for the clerk to have to weigh each package after you’ve stood in line behind 10 other people. Yeah, they generally hate it when you bring packages to the counter. You might eventually graduate to being able to bring your packages to the back to put in a hamper and there’s also other ways to track your packages by setting it up through their website to get tracking information but the gold standard is to have the package scanned not just drop it off in a slot or a hamper or with the carrier out on the route. We did that a year ago and lost, for nearly a week, almost 2 dozen packages during the ice storm that we had, and only after I rattled some cages with the regular he looked into it, and within an hour they mysteriously showed up. 😮 Needless to say we’ve never dropped packages off with the RCA’s or really anyone else on the route for that matter. If it’s late, you can also go around the back and ask for some grace, but we’ve also met with opposition in that regard saying it was too late, even though we both knew that it wasn’t. They can just be like that. It’s a very very difficult job.

Check to see if your post office has a back loading dock. They may allow package drop off back there when you have a lot of packages.

I use to prepackage my ebay listings and had them in a neat system, then people kept asking random questions about certain items, then i had to cut open boxes and move stuff around, now i store things in open boxes....lol

I had a thought for you Justin. What if you did interviews with other EBay sellers where you talk about challenges as well as successes. You could interview large stores as well as smaller EBay stores.

You could also have some of your subscribers submit their stores for you to look at where you could offer suggestions and feedback based on needs that they have. Kind of like an expert coming in on an episode of kitchen nightmares. Maybe items aren’t selling, picture quality could improve. Or items are priced incorrectly. Just a thought. Love your content!

My big issue is figuring out shipping. How do you put a price on shipping is you don’t prepackage? I’m also confused when I see everyone shipping in the priority boxes… do you get them free from post office and are they a fixed price or calculated price? People need to be cautious prepackaging/prebagging their items. I've received multiple orders recently with faint brown/yellow stains looking like they were water damaged, or with mold spots. they appear to have been prebagged as they were in bags with sku numbers on them.

Another great Q&A. I noticed you are using AI now for listing descriptions. Assuming you are testing it out. How’s it working? I tried it didn’t see any change in sales and found descriptions were over the top and super wordy. Can you talk about your AI insights on an upcoming video?

Yes, I have been testing the AI descriptions. Going well so far, but I don't think it has impacted sales or anything. My gut still says that a majority of buyers don't even read the description. Will continue to test though!

Yes! Go to you active listings on eBay, select all and click actions -> End. Then pop over to your ended listings and select all again and click sell similar.

no it’s all saved. and we will never really know if it truly works or not of course. only ebay knows and they don’t share info like that. but i have enough experience and evidence to feel that it works. i suggest you try and see for yourself and decide if it is worth it for you!
