Lehman is my grandmother's favorite catalog store. She was living off of the grid even though she owned an electrical plant and sold electricity to the neighbors. She rarely used it for herself. She ended each day using homemade candles. She prepared me for the future and I am grateful for her talents.

I have ALWAYS, since I was kid, wanted to go to Lehmans'. But, if I ever went, I wouldn't be able to buy anything, because it's so far from where I live, I couldn't afford to shop there after buying gas that far and back. (Sigh...)🙄

We went to Lehman’s in April. I spent $500 without even looking the whole store over. Spent most of it on canning items. We were going back home to NY from our trip to Tennessee and went home through Kentucky and Ohio just to go to Lehman’s. We were exhausted by the time we got there. It was a Saturday so they were closed the next day. We want to go back. Also want to go to Jungle Jims.

I love my push mower! It can cut grass up to 10" or so it even cuts through thicker weeds. It's quiet and I've never had any issues sharpening the blades. I wouldn't use it for than a half acre area tho, it would take too long. But it's wonderful for making grass clipping mulch.
@jannafolsom1069

I've been wanting one for ages. I have, to date, found not one single person to discuss the pros and cons with. Reviews are often biased and paid for. I like to actually, old school, TALK to humans who have experienced the things. No person that I've reached out to has ever used one. Right Now, we have 2 zero turn mowers that are broke down. I think it would be perfect for mowing around the garden,the mulch bins, the greenhouse, and the house. Just so I can see where I'm walking.
@ahtemmathehun3506
@ahtemmathehun3506 2 жыл бұрын
@@jannafolsom1069 I picked mine up on Amazon 6 years ago. It's a 20" Scotts Classic Push Mower and it's green, it was the highest rated one there at the time. I bought it so I could mow a small, suburban lawn and have held onto it since. My original thought was to use it between my new raised beds when we moved. I haven't been able to do use it in that fashion yet. My other motivation was I have a special needs adult in my house and the motorized push mower scared her due to the noise and my husband was working graveyards at the time, I didnt want to wake him up while doing yard care. My middle child was using it at age 8 and enjoying it. The down sides are that it's only as strong as the person pushing it, you will have to sharpen and adjust blades, wet grass can get stuck but no more so than with a motorized one and there's a sweet spot in regards to speed. You have to find that yourself through trial and error. It does take more time to mow too. Also, you will still have to edge, there is about 1.5" gap due to the tires and edge of the rotary. Upside is, you can mow around small animals that frighten or stress easily, gardens and those odd, narrow spaces every yard has. I will have to go back over certain areas that have super thick grasses but I would have to do the same thing with a motorized one. If you have anymore questions, feel free to hit me up here, I will happily answer them. 😊

Justin you gave several hundred dollars worth of gift money away while you were in that store and that’s assuming we saw at all… I’m guessing you gave away a lot more than that. I hope you didn’t put back your 2 axes…Everything you purchased was of great use😊😊❣️ they weren’t frivolous and as I watched your wife select things she was only selecting things that she needed and could use in the kitchen or garden etc. very purposeful items. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. When will be the next time you go to Lehmans store ?? 10 years? So that’s only $50 a year sure that is a very very great deal😊❣️ It was very nice of your oldest son to think of Josiah and pick out that knife for him so that he could say thank you for staying at home taking care of the farm!! You are very lucky to have such a loving and thoughtful children and family. I know the baby started getting a little fussy in the store but he was hungry and I think he behaved better than many children much older than him!!!!!…I did a lot of traveling to see my family between the states and they each have their own backpack of favorite stuffed animal, favorite little blanket, favorite books, Favorite few toys and always a couple of surprises to keep them entertained. I never ever went anywhere without no toys especially for the babies because their attention span is so short. I know you didn’t mean to do that but thank goodness they had a toy area in their store. I didn’t think it was interesting though that the Amish had a bunch of metal toys LOL this store reminded me of RENOVATION HARDWARE in 1980’s in Wichita KS …Really loved that store!!!

OK, I want an Aladdin's Magic Lamp and an Aladdin's Kerosene Refrigerator! Do they sell them? I didn't think so. I have my late Momma's Aladdin's Magic Lamp (her birthday present from Chicago Mail Order, later Spiegel& Co. ) in 1934 a Model "B" Brass burner Nickel Silver Font with adjustable air shutter for varying grades of kerosene (paraffin oil) and it still works perfectly. "So easy a Child can use it. So safe a Child can light it." She grew-up on a farm in Arkansaw without running water or electricity and only a fireplace for cooking and heat for most of her life. The used cast iron little cook stove was a luxury almost beyond belief. When they moved to Tulsa and had running water (a faucet in the yard and hot and cold water in the kitchen) my Grandmother cried.

My wife and l grew up near Kidron. We still have family there. Lehmans is huge now a days but dont sell half the off grid stuff they used to. There is so much thats no longer available. They used to sell gasoline powered refridgerators and wash machines! Parts for Hoosier cabinets. The last time we were there, we couldn't even find lamp oil and wicks! Perhaps they were out, the sales lady just shrugged. Anyway, we still enjoy going there when we can. I usually enjoy watching the g scale train near the creek entrance. Sometimes its running, sometimes its not. Thats funny how you pronounced Kidd-ron. Enjoyed the video!. Hope the little one is doing well.
