I would not glue the boards that run perpendicular across the grain as wood needs to be able to move to prevent warpage or cracking of the door. A door can take on moisture from the air causing the wood to expand and contract 1/4 in per foot. Also do not glue the tongue and groove joint for the same reason. Making the screw holes slightly large will also help, Tears of Experience

I just subscribed to your channel, beautiful work! it's been very helpful to see how you make your creations. The only thing I would do different is use a matte or satin sealer finish. I think it's too glossy for a rustic peice. Although I'm sure there are those who would disagree with me. Great work!

Nice job! I kind of cringed when u out down masking tape before using the router, but then noticed you switched to painters tape. Wondering if you had issues when pulling off regular masking tape or was the stain able to resist the glue adhesive. No diss, just curious. Again, door came out great

👍Nice work! Is there anyway you could give a little more info/details?! For example maybe give a estimated price of the wood ,hardware ,which grit of sandpaper you were using on the hand held sander etc. I've read a couple comments asking ,so I know it would definitely be appreciated! Anyways Thanks for the video. It looks great!👍

How far does the door hang from the wall? Evidently, enough to allow the door to pass over the clock and wall hanging. Nice job, BTW.

@@opiana86 it so the doors wouldn’t sway back and forth when not in use. Naturally doors move when the furnace kicks on and off. So no track on the floor

The slots that were cut out. What was the purpose of doing that? I didn’t notice a track on the floor? Thx for sharing

These doors are purely cosmetic non functioning the slot is to hold them still so they don’t swing back and forth.

Either the clock and candles are super thin and flat, or that is a staged picture just for looks. I doubt there is room to fit those two items between the wall and the barn doors.

STOPS IN THE MIDDLE ARE ADJUSTED FOR REVEAL STOPS ARE ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT ENDS OF RAIL SO DOORS WILL NOT COME OFF RAIL. SO STOPS IN MIDDLE YES

How do you keep them from rolling past center? I just installed some myself (not as nice as yours!) and they roll past the railing coupler (I used two 8 foot long rails and the provided coupler).
@JustinStanley4 жыл бұрын
Usually the hardware kit comes with stops for the center, so the doors stop where you would like them to
@luptonpittman65203 жыл бұрын
I’m doing a double door project now and I’m trying to figure this out as well. If I put the two spare stoppers in the middle, they take up too much space and the doors won’t close together. The distance between the two straps when the doors are closed is only about 2.5 inches. I’m thinking maybe if I leave the last 1/2 inch or so (of the mortise slot) unrouted, and it will catch the guide and stop. We’ll see.
@Carnie5life4 жыл бұрын

A list of what is need would be helpful and because you don’t have it and did not include it in your video I cannot find it helpful sorry it is beautiful.
@shonuff66994 жыл бұрын
Angela Pannozo it looks like they used 1x6 pine tongue and groove boards (probably 8 foot) for the main part of the door, 1x4 (again, probably 8 feet), for the top trim and cross sections, 1 1/4 inch nails and nail gun, wood glue, sander and sand paper (probably 220 or higher grit), long clamps to hold the wood together as it is glued, and a router with a slot cutting bit. Of course you’ll need the mounting hardware as well.

My wall has no studs. What can I do? I want to install the barn door but how?
@MikeTheMaker15 жыл бұрын
MC Rose Caba if you make the door very close to the floor you could hide two wheels in the door rather than the slot for the guide to ride in. Door will be a little bit thicker but it’s doable. Then install the top so it looks like it’s hanging but the two black wheel will actually support the weight. You will have to make the door, can’t get that in a kit.
