I'm an Asian American in a predominantly white area and had my fair share of people fetishizing me based on my ethnic background because of what they've seen in porn with Asian people or expecting me to be a submissive caregiver. I think fetishization is based on desiring/solely dating a specific group or ethnicity based on a specific stereotypical (usually sexual) quality. For example, if a girl only dates black dudes because she likes big dicks, that would be fetishization vs if a girl only dated black dudes because that’s what she finds most attractive is just preference.

Listen i am a Ally who has lived around 80% Asian most of my life, this info comes straight from growing up in and around Asians homes, the mom and dad dynamic... Culturally Asian woman date seriously Asian and White men. I think people should really look into things like cultural, social norms for Asian people and communities, understanding you are marrying the family when you marry Asian, and do not step up to pops unless you are prepared in life, They are Traditional, even when adopting progressive ideologies, and i love it I'd argue there is a bit of a hidden conversation that needs to be had about black and asian community, but overall I got love and appreciate Asian culture. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Philippine, Thai, Cambodian, Viet, and so many others cultures brings something different, and so much rich culture to North America. So try to take this things into account before you just assume, ShE TiMiD AnD ThEy WiLl MaKe mE A SaNdWiCh AnD SuCky SuCkY, You gon f around and find out real quick, The hunter becomes the hunted xD

Great discussion. Different angles of perception, circumstance and didn't shy away from race. As a white woman I wouldn't be very bothered of another race talking about how they love white women (or men) though it surprises me. However, I would be upset and consider it a red flag if any man referred to me or women collectively as 'females' or anything along the terms of 'vessels'. Ew! Also, a red flag if I'm speaking to another white person and they mention 'I only date white guys/girls'. I consider the possible nuances behind the sentence, give them the benefit of the doubt, (a bit reluctantly) but I make note of it in case something else pops up. Something that would make me re-evaluate whether they're the kind of person I want to be friends with.

If you don't want to spew subjective viewpoints, why not open up into looking into both side of the arguments instead of just one-sided. For me I can see why this was viewed as fetishization. E.G., what do you think would happen if you walked into the hood in Inglewood or Crenshaw and said, "I love Black people?" Do you think they would take offense to that and why? If you objectify a race, it does sound pretty offensive, if not weird. If you like a race of peoples for whatever reason, that reason should be your case in point, instead of just flat out saying I love this race, because it doesn't have any point in value, hence objectifying or fetishization can be pointed out as the case here. This is mainly for Ryan, although some of the others have a share in it too, but you shouldn't slander your own kind and then try to justify it with subjective opinions, because you become a lower intellectual being than those you are arguing about, making your argument irrelevant to theirs. It's a debate that goes no where. That's my two cents.
