I'm 45, read every day, play chess, visit my library weekly, basically only DA aesthetic I don't do is dress up in a suit.

I love chess! It’s one of the main reasons I got into dark academia. I won both chess tournaments at my chess camp. Your videos truly do help me to find ways to express myself more! Also you are so pretty! I can’t! Also pro tip; burn the edges of paper, write with a fountain pen, make your own envelope, and seal it with wax for a super aesthetically pleasing letter! I made some for my friends and they loved it!

Great vid! FYI when you set up a chess board, the Queens always go on the square that matches their color (to the left of the king if the board is rotated properly). Also the position in which you won couldn't be reached with legal moves 😂 but that's ok

Just a piece of quick advice: You'd better hold the glass at its stem since this tallies with the customary rules of etiquette and (which seems to be the reason) your cold drink will not warm through by the warmth of your hands.

If anyone’s looking for a good dark academia book, I have a short little list (these book not only look DA on the outside, but are mostly written around late 1800’s and early 1900’s, and are beautifully written and some illustrated): -pride and prejudice -Agatha Christie’s murder mysteries -the Lord of the Rings trilogy -The Holy Bible (my favourite as a Christian🤎) -Sherlock Holmes -and old book about wars or history e.g. war of the roses -historical diaries or journals

I'm 35 so i don't know what young people are doing these days.. but let me get this straight.. Is this all about the aesthetic of looking smart? It doesn't make sense.. a smart person would not waste time in looking smart or decorating a room, or seeking out clothes.. a smart person is about their passion and craft.. mathematicians do math, philosophers read intensely very hard books you have to read several times to understand.. they don't play dress up and read DA books.. i think this is makes a mockey of real academics..

haha omg first of all, you are a young person 😅 The style of the clothes I suppose can make you appear smarter just by being more put together but the aesthetic in general isn't about looking smart at all, it's about actively learning and expressing what you're passionate about. You don't have to dress this way to do that, I just dress this way. I dont think an aesthetic that inspires people to educate themselves is a mockery of academics, that doesnt even make sense

I’m a nearly 32 year old with a BA in English/Creative writing. I graduated from an old liberal arts collage that is dripping with dark academia charm. I spent hours studying, writing and reading in worn leather armchairs because that was what my degree required; Though I never wore the DA style clothing, earth tones do NOT suit my completion. It is really strange to me to see people playing “dress up”of what was my normal college experience. It feels a bit inauthentic and silly. However, I enjoy dressing up and going to renaissance fairs, so who am I to talk. I’ve come to look at it as another form of escapism. A way to make a normal mundane day a little more interesting. I don’t understand it all myself but it makes some people happy.
