Besides, if everyone worked in the church where will the offerings come from? Who will work as farmers, doctors, mechanics, electricity technicians, hoteliers, food store employees, ect?

Apparently the “elitist” mentality we have become so familiar with in recent years isn’t limited to politicians and celebrities. It is even more disgusting and disheartening to see it paraded about by so-called “servants of Christ”. Now that this information has been exposed publicly, I pray that we may live to see some public repentance and humility. As a SWBTS alumn (2012) and a rural church pastor for 10 years this breaks my heart. I would like to call an audit for all seminaries. You can’t convince me that Adam was/is the only one abusing funds. I know so many pastors and staff that have a “let the church pay for it” mentality. Well, when you start with humble beginnings you learn that every dollar matters and should not be taken for granted.

I bought my husband an espresso machine for $100 a few years ago. It works great. My husband is a professor at a private university. He works four jobs, because they don’t pay well. He teaches his main job, he teaches evening classes as an adjunct professor at another university. He Ubers and he drives a truck, delivering for Amazon. He provides for us. It allowed me to homeschool my children. I’m like you, it doesn’t bother me if someone is paid well for a certain job. We don’t envy anyone. This just sickens me. Overspending others money is a sin. I attend an SBC church and I am praying about what to do. I wish they would leave the SBC. I don’t know of anyone in my church doing anything wrong, but they certainly have to know what’s going on in the SBC in total.

As a current SWBTS student since 2018, I think that you should keep your heart guarded. This is not the last reckoning the school will face for it's administrative misconduct. The hardest part was watching all my professors getting fired because the school "couldn't afford it" knowing how much money was being spent on the President's House. It hurts even worse when I grew up in a prosperity church and left because of what I was taught at SWBTS.

I attended the college from '18 to '20. Left because i saw the writing on the wall when they were harrassing Dr. Lopez and other students for having "unaligned" (for lack of better phrasing) positions with the school on a couple issues, which resulted in Dr. Lopez being fired the next semester. They also fired Dr. Mark Jansen at that time too. Their were 14 profs in the college at that time and those two were hands down the best at TEACHING and knowing the material that they were teaching. Ive looked at the staff since then and it looks like only Dr. Heister is still there (even the dean was replaced). I know little about him though. Edit: just finished the video. A point about student staff and putting food on the table: i made $8.50 an hour as student staff, and my wife went to the breadline every week for our 3 kids and we stretched that food out each week (i even made a garden at the student housing we were in to supplement the food) and now i learn about this extravagance.... betrayel seems like a good word here. My neighbor was a PhD student and worked 2 jobs on campus, and he, his wife, and 2 kids were almost anorexic they could never afford enough food. I wouldn't believe it of a seminary if i didn't live it. 😢

Dallas Theological Seminary has its own issue, a very BIG problem. DTS teaches the false teaching of John Nelson Darby. It was Darby who, in the 1800s, introduced the heretical teaching of a Rapture of God's church before the Tribulations. There is no clear indication of this in the Bible. Darby also introduced the false doctrine of dispensation or dispensationalism. Darby even had his own Bible translation. The only way for SWBTS to "pull" through is to break away from the SBC - but since it's the SBC who controls the school and its teachings, highly unlikely.

Brother Peters. I'm about 25 minutes from SWBTS and have a few members in my church employed by the institution. I have brought up the problems with the school, or leadership, and the SBC. Only a small handful have listened and investigated further, while most don't seem to do nothing with the information. I pray and have been that many other SBC churches will leave the SBC like I'm pushing my pastor and other elders to do. I'll be passing this video along to many current and former staff of SWBTS. This breaks my heart and hits close to home. My Alma Mater was merged with another university by the USG to save on administrative cost and roughly a year later it came out that the president and another executive had grossly misused funds and taken money not owed to them. I pray that the Lord will place the right people in place to heal southwestern and our convention. I thank the Lord that my home church has a pastor who goes above and beyond to be transparent and to ensure we are good stewards of the resources the Lord has given us.

I grew up in a small SBC. When i married and started a family, i started seeing so many wrong things. We started looking elsewhere for a church home but all we found were cults. I worked for government for a while and sat through council meetings and representative meetings. Once I was invited to an SBC meeting and it was just as corrupt as the government. We quit going to church when they changed the music and when everything was either a Beth Moore or Rick Warren Study. We could see things creeping in that just didnt line up Biblically. They have even started hosting yoga classes in many SBC churches. We would love to be in a good Bible teaching church but have no clue where to turn. So many are cults. 😢

I currently go to SWBTS and nobody here liked greenway, I’m sure some of the cronies he installed liked him but nobody else did. His wife would come into the Rec center and treat student employees like non entities and not even speak to them even when spoken to. We need to pray for them. He never once spoke to a student or came through the student center and not once showed any support for anyone except himself. He missed half chapels flying first class to who knows where. Dr. Dockery is our new president and we all love him he is a great man

Just my perception from experience & observation. A forgotten phrase in the SBC Churches from way back in the day was " Soul Saving Station". That vaporized when "The Church Incarnate" became "The Church Corporate". Many called to serve instead became CEO rulers. It declined further when the 'worship' of the golden elephant and alignment with worldly politics increased. The falling away is not caused by those on the "outside". It's ALL about the money, follow the money.

Amen, Bro Justin, it's the height of hypocrisy. Just unbelievable. I grew up, and still belong, to a missionary Baptist church my grandfather built many years ago. I have gotten the Baptist Progress since I was a child, I would read it cover to cover. I was very aware of all our sister churches, a mixture of the Baptist faiths. The only time I ever heard of trouble was when one or more churches that were going Pentecostal. Maybe there were indiscretions, but I never heard it. Nothing like today. These wolves in sheep's clothing need to be outed publically for what they've done. If it's kept behind closed doors, it will possibly encourage other wolves to do the same thing. Sigh. Where have the true men of God gone. I'm thankful I have you and a couple others I can still trust. Come quickly Lord Jesus.

I just have a lot of negative thoughts in my mind. Im not perfect but i feel like God said to me be careful. In my life i thought, if you love God, you work for God at no cost.

My spouse and I graduated SWBTS in 2003 and 2001, respectively, after going through with two children and multiple jobs between us. We were so glad to be done when we were because of the then-new-presidency. I was so hopeful that when he left things would get better, and I'm so sad to see that wasn't the case. Thank you for sharing this information. I’m no preacher but I do read my Bible every day snd I do know that GOD’s word speaks of these things that will happen in the church. Your correct each of us will give an account before the LORD for our actions not those of others. I was raised in the Baptist church the same one my mom attended and I remember Sunday school. When I was older coming home in leave from the military I can still hear the pastor preaching the real gospel staying true to the teachings of JESUS. This fire snd brimstone messages are what I miss; turn or burn hot home. Unfortunately in many churches the message has been toned down the word is not being taught but misaligned into man’s version of the gospel message. Now as I look around I see that many of the things the Bible talked about the events that would are happening today and seem to get worse each and every day. Justin you just stay you and keep on exposing those that are harmful to the good news that are causing people to become confused and many leaving the church all together. I pray the GOD will Bless you and your family and protect those that are bold and speaking repentance to a rapidly changing world; changing for the worse.

I’m a member of an SBC church and I’m so sad that I have to earmark everything I give so that the corrupt hands of the SBC can’t touch it. I would be happy to see my congregation leave the convention but not everyone is ready to acknowledge the rot that the SBC has become. I’m grateful for faithful brothers like you shining a light on these types of things though so that more eyes can be opened to what’s really going on.

You sound just like my mother always sounded. She was very Godly, practical and frugal and she thought just like you're talking about being aghast at things like you're talking about. This man is an example of mankind's so easily getting a swelled head. It could happen to anyone if we take our eyes off of God. The strongest rebuke that Jesus ever gave was regarding a lack of accountability in stewardship, at times for lack or improper use of funds, and sometimes for improperly teaching God words.

Sadly the church I go to is affiliated with the Southern Baptist name but, thankfully, they are a true Bible-believing church. They preach on the entire Bible through a year or break apart specific books over an entire year. They encourage the congregation to read their Bible daily and truly have a desire to see souls saved. They keep us all accountable on remaining in study groups on Sunday mornings in addition to church service, Equip nights on Wednesdays where they have table conversations led by a pastor, they have 3 rotating pastors on staff, and I’ve witnessed many times them handle a sinful situation the Biblical way. They are honest about it without giving details and don’t lie to the congregation and make up a story. I have been a part of WoF and NAR before but I’ve also been to many other churches. I really just don’t understand why they don’t go independent Baptist instead. In addition, I’ve used an $11,000 espresso machine at a job before. It was gorgeous but too expensive to fix when it broke. I have my dream machine that is $600-$700, but my $150 one has worked for almost 10 years just as well. No single person home needs an $11,000 espresso machine. Sorry, I just was stuck on that. Having one, I know they don’t have to be that expensive.

New Testament Jesus fulfilled the law so that the 10% tithe is not demanded of the Christian; in its place the New Testament talks about the importance and benefits of giving. We choose how to give with a cheerful heart. ❤ “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). The churches and groups that push giving to get wealthy and avoid wrath are manipulating the flock.

Rev. Peters, I spoke to you a couple of years ago about the TBN monster. I live in Florida, and we had a very nice conversation. This is a rampant problem in the upper level leaders throughout the SBC. I met Dr. Greenway when he first began and I saw potential problems with him. Many in SBC leadership did not like Dr. Page Patterson, and they took him out. I am personally disgusted with my denomination. This is the church of Laodicea in practice. Keep up the good work. No question, there are honorable men and women who serve Christ within the southern Baptist tradition. The problem is when the high ups in the denomination ladder have an elitist view that think that they can do as they please without any kind of accountability. An authority who thinks that they are above being confronted needs to be separated from. That was my experience with the SBC and I do not see myself ever going back to a SBC church.

I was from a Baptist Church in Asia. Our church was founded by SBC missionaries. Baptist churches here would send seminarians to SBC seminaries Like the SBC, my former church has shifted a bit. While we do not have female pastors due to our history, the senior pastor has preached that he would hope that we could have female pastors preaching in the future. I left shortly after, though I would like to be back one day I know that the current church that I am in would not send any seminarian to most evangelical seminaries as they are, seeing how certain troubling issues have crept in

Probably only 2 SBC seminaries seem to be still alright: Mid Western and SBTS, though I think SBTS has some concerns of late Thankful that there are new seminaries closer to home that are faithful

I'm disappointed, too, how most have been deceived and embraced corruption instead. However, I can name 2 seminaries that have integrity: The Masters Seminary (founded by Pastor John Macarthur) and The Shepherd's Seminary in North Carolina (founded by President Stephen Davey).
