What a very nice tip you made. I always do calculate the angle from object ball to the pocket and then calculate how much i have to aim on the cue ball. This method is much easier.

Loved it. I'm a fan of CTE aiming. I don't use aiming systems for most of my shots. But I don't make cut shots greater than 40 degrees-ish consistently so I'm definitely trying this.

I use this same aiming tool for almost two years. Instead of the pivot, try to parallel shift the shaft from the CB edge to CB center. The pivot can give give a slight over cut. And you can do it in the air or on the way down to address.

correct me if Im wrong the shaft aiming syhstem is only up to a 45 degree cut coz say you are cutting the ball 45 degree to your left , the left edge the shaft has to be in line with the the right edge of the OB. to make the shot once the cut angle is over 45 degree the left edge of the shaft will be out right over the edge of ob meaning the left edge of the shaft is aiming in space. I wonder why in his video he says it works up to about 70 degrees thank you

I kind of use this system with just 2 variations, 30 degree cuts shots or greater, and 30 degree cut shots or less, plus I just adjust it for certain shots, based on experience. It works great for cut shots into the side pockets, probably because those pockets are a little bigger. On those types of shots, this system has helped me make some crazy cut shots into the side pockets, shooting only 1.5 diamond from the short rail! Thanks for posting this video!

Cool. I personally like split the difference for the reason you are talking about. I like to just drop down on the shot. But I line shoot mostly. But if I'm struggling or feeling lazy I'll just use split the difference

I wonder if methods like this seem to work because the individual shooting the shot already knows how to make the shot and unconsciously applies the correct aim to make the shot... It would be interesting to teach this to a complete beginner and see how effective it is -- because it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

I'm a semi-fan of CTE I can see 90/90 doing the much same thing too. I think the systems eventually train the eyes to learn the shot angles and ultimately the hands will follow the eyes. Stan Shuffett's cte/pro tries to eliminate the obvious and unseemly act of the manual pivots and encourages flowing directly into the shot position. But that takes quite a bit of practice to accomplish smoothly. If someone is right-handed with a dominate left eye... they might need a cue stick with training wheels or a crosshair sight glued on top of the ferrule.

To each their own. Whatever works for someone is what they should use. I still think, at least for myself, that the ghost ball aiming system is vastly superior. You just need to understand about cut induced throw. Otherwise it is super simple to see and use. One of the great things about pool is that there are many ways to do things. Many ways to aim, ways to stand, there are short punchy strokes that look awful like Pagulayan, and there there are absolutely beautiful strokes like Gorst. There are guys that rarely drop their elbow and guys and gals that drop their elbow quite a bit on every shot - like Gorst and many top European players. There are guys that have the traditional snooker stance and guys that almost have their feet vertical to each other. There are guys and gals that play fast, really fast, and guys and gals that are so slow watching paint dry is more entertaining. Bottom line, do what works best for you but be willing to put the time in. If you don't put the work in, you are not going to be a good player.

In the Pro-One version of CTE, the pivot is essentially done while bending into the shot, so it's all one smooth motion. Perhaps this approach could be used with the 90/90 system?

the thing with the pivot though with varying bridge length the angle the cb moves towrard the ob is differnc as well. if you pivot bridge length is too short you can overcut it , too long you can undercut it

Sort of but not really. If you have an abnormally long or short bridge, yes. But if it’s a normal length, then no.

Doesn't this highly depend on the length of the bridge? The amount of pivot will be proportional to the length from bridge to tip. Seems like the distance from cue to object balls would also be a variable factor. Unless I missed it, what was the explanation of when to use edge, quarter, center, etc, on the object ball before the pivot?

Certainly. If you have an abnormally long bridge, it might not be as accurate. Or an abnormally short bridge. But if it’s anywhere around 7-11”, it should work fine. It’s surprisingly accurate and I wish I understood why.

Not really. Dead straight in, I would aim at the base of the ball. Where the ball meets the cloth. Unfortunately though, we don’t miss straight in shots from bad aim. We miss them from bad technique. An overlooked part of this game is that when we get down and set, every single shot becomes the same. Just shoot straight.

It works very similar to fractional aiming. I can’t tell you the exact degrees unfortunately. I only know when it looks wrong, go to the next one.

It depends on the shaft you use. With a low deflection, you don’t need to do much.

Shallow angles like 10° you aim edge to edge and pivot to center. Pivot edge to 1/4 when angle is deeper. Edge to 1/2 when angle is 45° cut. Edge to 3/4 when steeper like a 50°.

The further you are from the object ball, the more exact you need to be. In fact, the perception changes a bit for super long shots so it can get tricky. It’s something you need to experience with.

Watch again and pay close attention to the graphics on the left side of the screen. You’ll see the cue, the cueball and the object ball. And the line of aim I’m referring to. All of that is illustrated on the screen.

I even became a level seven player because of some of your instructions. But playing pool comes more or less naturally to me and when you start throwing in numbers like that I simply get confused is all...lol.... I would like to add this is nothing like CTE. CTE you have parallax , aim lines , sight lines , NISLS. With 3 different styles to CTE. I took 10 hours worth of lessons from Mr. Shuffett himself. His way is more detailed for better results. This should just be titled 90/90.....CTE is its own monster.

I just use ghost ball. Don't understand the fascination with hokey pokey and turn yourself around systems when ghost ball gives you direct access on what to aim at, and these systems do nothing for me if I'm using english, stuck on the rail or hooked in the pocket or jacked over a ball. I really don't understand why a pro would DIVERT from ghost ball when viewing the ghost ball is necessary so often.

pivoting is stupid but could be useful system for beginers to begin to learn the angles untill they see them more naturally so they automatically get down on the right line its quite a plain ball way of playing and not really something i would reccomend to anyone to use full time its forgiving like a lot of the aiming systems becuse the game is easy. You do need to know how to pot in various ways for position lots more to learn than this. Better to learn correct fundimentals as you Americans might say (technique)...I could play all day on that table n never miss a shot i could see as the pockets are that big id be scared id fall in walking around it. There is actually a thing i do and someone demonstrated it and called it a system i do it naturally but I actually never knew it was a system till someone demonstrated it.

Oh dear, that IS indeed voodoo. Some over-engineering, here (not your fault) with all these 'aiming systems'. Just practice and train your angle recognition, helps a lot more in the long run.

@@DrawShotTV As long as one plays on barn door like pool table pockets. Where one can use the pocket size to one's advantage. But try to rely on this playing a difficult table, and... there's the miss.

If you can't explain how it works, then your work is not done. First, your bridge length severely impacts the shot when pivoting. Draw this to scale on a piece of paper, mark the center point of rotation for a 6" bridge and a 12" bridge and you will see. Second, you need to estimate the cut angle to know what fraction of the ball to point at, then estimate that fraction of ball. This is overly complicated compared to just learning to aim properly - no "system". And finally, any system that has you pivot your cue after going down on the cue ball cannot be accurate. Proper straight cue delivery is dependent on your feet position, head alignment and shoulder rotatation. Pivoting your cue throws that all out of whack.
