ONE OF MY FAVORITE SEASONS. honestly, a lot of SPN fans say that the more recent seasons are trash, but i think seasons from 9 to 12 are LIT. my favorites for sure. finally you’re getting there😭😭

What Dean did to Sam definitely has to be the most selfish thing he has ever done! I understand that he has to protect his brother, but to trick him into being possessed, lying to him about, not to mention essentially denying Sam his dying wish, I can defend Dean for a lot of his actions in the past but this definitely isn’t one of them

In fairness the writers wrote a way out of this but no one talks about it. When the angels got kicked out of heaven the gates were closed so souls meat for heaven couldn’t get in so Sam would’ve been ghost and eventually lost it like Bobby. Yeah Dean didn’t know that at the time but still. I also hate what the writers did to Dean just to cause yet another stupid fight between the brothers because apparently that’s all the writers can think of

​@@patrickmcguire7896 That's actually a good point, I didn't even think about that. Had Sam completed the third trial and died, his spirit would've been stuck in the veil. And I agree that the writers seemed like they couldn't go a season without Sam and Dean being at each other's throats. Having typical sibling bickering is one thing, but having Sam and Dean doing things uncharacteristically just for the sake of drama is what made a lot of their big fights repetitive.

When exactly did Dean know about Sam's dying wish?? This is a direct continuation from Sacrifice, where Sam willingly stopped the trial when Dean asked him to at the church because it was a fatal mission ... Sam wanted to live then and quit the trial, so can you point to the moment that Sam has explicitly told Dean his dying wish? As far as Dean knows, Sam wanted to do the trial because Dean had suicidal ideation when choosing to undergo the trial, and that's the moment when Sam expressed his adamant choice to take the trial from Dean ... so that they both can live ... Dean only knew about Sam's state of mind only when Ezekiel enable him to see into Sam's consciousness. And then and only at that moment he knew, when he only had a split second to process that Sam wanted to go with Death ... such a turnaround from Sam's previous stance ...

Being stuck on an island by yourself and what happens to your psyche being alone with nobody to talk to for years. If y’all haven’t seen it, it’s such a good movie! If you’ve ever heard someone say the quote “WILSON!!!”, it comes from that movie. Seriously, y’all would love it! The lengths Tom Hanks went to in preparation for that movie is incredible.

Although I understand why Dean did what he did, he went about it the wrong way. He should've let Sam know what the plan was, let Sam decide whether he wanted to do it or not, then handled things from there instead of tricking Sam. And even though Dean did show some character growth by wanting to immediately tell Sam what he had done, it was a little too late because that's something he should've done before the possession, as I previously stated, and that would've been even more character growth for him by letting Sam make his own decisions. Now, what I don't understand is fans getting mad at Dean for saving Sam and stopping him from finishing the trial because, according to them, Sam was dying anyway. 1. Go back and listen to Sam's speech in the finale after Dean tells him he would die if he finished the trial. Sam was being suicidal, and Dean saved him from himself. He did for Sam what Sam has done for him countless times. 2. If Sam would've completed the trial, died, and the gates of hell would've been sealed up, there still would've been the angel problem. So, while one problem would've been solved, another one would still be there. But it's weird that it seems like y'all would rather have Sam dead than alive.

I hate this season so much aside from season 15 it's my most hated season. While I hate the set up with this argument, what I hate more is the resolution of it. Semi SPOILERS here, but it resolves itself in a similar toxic way that the midseason fight of season 8 did. Now Sam doesn't say it but it's implied that if the shoes were revered Sam would've done the same for Dean. Basically what he does in season 10 for Dean enforces the fact that both brother would do anything for each other, even if it meant lying to each other and crossing some lines, as well as putting others at risk (This feels redundant because we already knew this from previous seasons). Now Sam doesn't do exactly what Dean did but again it's implied by his actions that he would do anything for his brother. And this doesn't absolve Dean at all since he's dealing with the consequences of his actions here for three seasons. But yeah I hate this season

@TBFC1985 To be fair to the writing, Jensen told the story in an M&G that he played it as if he was Ezekiel and not Dean. So the endgame was getting Sam's permission to be possessed, not letting Sam know what the plan was, thus having him reject the plan as Ezekiel already knew Sam wouldn't want to be possessed. Having said that, Jensen also said Ezekiel used words that were similar to what Dean would say to Sam. His words (paraphrase) : Ezekiel was, however, expressing Dean’s genuine feelings about Sam, but putting it in words that Dean himself probably would never say out loud. In other words, the lines/words were the truth, but we all know that Dean’s not very good at putting his feelings out there; that Ezekiel knew how Dean really feels about Sam and put it in the words that Dean can’t say but Sam needs to hear. In short, in Sam's mind was not Dean but Ezekiel, whereas Dean in the outside definitely wanted to tell Sam about the possession.

I'm strictly talking about Dean's decision or rather the decision he decided to make for Sam. My whole point was that Dean could've handled things differently. Even if he told Sam the plan and Sam said no, tricking him wouldn't have been the way to go. Dean was wrong.

@TBFC1985 ... Of course generally speaking, tricking Sam is wrong ... I guess we are coming from different pov, and that's okay. And since we are here on a public forum about a TV show, might I take it that you be amenable to a different viewpoint? ... Where I am coming from is that it is unfair to pass judgment on any split-second, life/death decision-making in a vacuum - without context or nuance. The life-support machine was making a racket indicating that Sam was at death's door. Dean had to decide in a split-second situation when his brother, basically his "son," died on the hospital bed. Dean also knew that Sam wanted to live, and he also now had the means to save Sam, so, of course, he was gonna do it ... they could fight about that decision-making process afterward once Sam was breathing and walking ... tl;dr I give Dean a pass in saving Sam because his intention and his knowledge about the fact that Sam wants to live are what counts at that particular moment, and that is good enough for me since I also want Sam to live. Whether it was a morally wrong one or not, I’m not going to pass judgment on Dean (i.e. why is it on us to say this or that is wrong if our protagonists were in an impossible situations and the only available choices are bad choice and worse choice on the table) ... how he proceeds going forward is what I am gonna be looking at and a separate issue altogether ... Even though it was stupid of Dean to immediately put his trust in some random angel, Castiel vouched for Ezekiel and it's not like Dean was going question Castiel about it because he trusts Castiel, and his word is enough for Dean. And unlike the other angel that showed up, Ezekiel genuinely seemed like he was there to help. It's too bad Castiel doesn't have his grace because all of this mess would've been avoided.

I don't think this is out of character for Dean at all, given that he was desperate to save Sam. Dean has done _a lot_ of dumb things when desperate, including: s2: sell his soul on a 1yr contract to revive Sam s3: trust that John was calling him from beyond the grave with a spell to kill the demon holding his contract s4: lock Sam in the panic room (taking away his choice) even when faced with the possibility that detoxing him could kill him s5: (almost) say yes to Michael/trust a punk-ass crossroads demon (Crowely) s6: shove Sam's flayed soul back into his body (without Sam's consent) despite both Cas AND Death saying it wasn't a good idea Etc Dean has both a history of removing Sam's choice/free will AND of making rash or ill-advised decisions when desperate Plus, as it's already been mentioned, Cas vouched for Ezekiel

10:25 it's great that Dean is so worried for Cas, but I hate how he cant conceptualize that Cas _cares_ about his family Cas' _last words_ to Dean in s8 were "I'm going to fix my home!" Now in s9 he tells Dean that he wants to help his siblings, that they feel lost & Dean just ignores him There's an episode later this season where Dean 110% pisses me off in this regard He just. . . _NEVER_ accepts that Cas has a family/home outside of humanity /=

The repetitiveness of sam's and dean's petty disagreements get old real fast. It's like they run out of ideas and go back to pointless, BS drama. They never grow as characters and while the show is still entertaining, you can tell they're really running on fumes.
