Thanks for the nice comments. My cameras are facing straight out (90 degrees). I often use altitude to build speed, and I like heavy machines as they hold the momentum better than light ones. Flying very low (in ground effect) can also help you fly fast without effort.
@Rcschim11 жыл бұрын
Really a blast to watch. It represents perfectly why flying fpv is so awesome. I like it how you stick to the ground quite low most of the time - like it was a fast car, and then ascend over a tree (but not too high, just barely over the treetop) - great!

I don't need filters as I don't have any issues. I have tried a low pass filter on my vtx with no difference in performance. I do separate the components as much as possible. Thanks for the kind comment.

Hi Justin and thanks for sharing this incredible video with us! I saw the small opening between the dead tree and the ground and I thought NO....... he is not going to do it...... NO..... and you DID! I honestly can say that most lawnmore ride higher than you did!! Ha Ha. As usual, amazing control and great motivational video. Something I would really love to see is a video of what YOU are seeing while performing this flight. I think it would be appreciated by many others also... Thanks!

Thank you Juz for those amazing pictures, i hope i'll be able to fly like you one day!!!

thanks mate. I love hugging the terrain and getting very close to things just like birds do. I like how they dive into the trees, making effortless split second decisions as they manoeuvre their way thru. I want to be able to fly like that. Problem is, they get to practice every day. =]

I watched this back on the day you posted it in 2013. Even with the advancement in quad technology and freestyle today, this and "Freeride" are still my all time favorites. Also midwestrob: "Emerald Waves". Those were the good days.

Thanks mate. Impossible to give settings over the internet, especially for something I have never flown. Every machine and pilot is different. Best bet is to visit/search the OpenPilot forums and check out (search) the wiki for other similar setups and PIDs. Also there are some great tuning threads there to read. All the best.

very similar to the alu arms. Same size and shape, although very slightly thicker (when looking from the top). They are probably lighter and will not bend in a crash. I still think the alu arms are probably better as they will absorb some of the energy better.

I've been enjoying these flights for a couple of years, I think, and building my own budget multiwii unit. What insulation to prevent "jello"; camera -- and board, too? Any chance you'd produce a split screen vid so we can see your stick technique, too? There are some fine quad, etc. pilots I've seen, but you and your locations are by far the most interesting. I liked the speeding up in this one, too. Quite a rush! I'll be looking forward to seeing the next one. Thanks and stay safe.

@seanmanok The resonant frequencies of 1.3Ghz have nothing to do with 2.4Ghz, 1.3Ghz would make 2.6Ghz, 3.9Ghz and so on. Using 1.3Ghz will jack up your UHF though or vice-versa as 433Mhz will produce 866Mhz and 1299Mhz resonant frequencies in which case he'd need a filter for his UHF.

Wow. That's a nice setup then. That inspires me to try and work out if I can get a proper setup on my tri. I'm also using 2.4 for rc and 1.3 for video with a 200mw vtx and a notch filter. They're approx. 6 inches apart (rx and vtx), is that around the same distance as yours or do I need more? Antennas are ibcrazy blubeams on vrx and vtx btw.

If I may butt in, it's best to just shoot in wide mode, then zoom in while editing of you want it to lok like medium mode. I'm a viddeo editor by trade, and when I put a 1080p gopro file up in medium mode, it shows as 133%, which means "medium" is only a crop of the full image, no different than if you just zoomed a 1080 "wide" clip to 133%. Also you can get plug-ins to reduce the fish-eye if that's the reason you wan to go to medium. Best to capture all the data then sort it out in editing.

@Seanmanok It depends on which channel he's on but it still doesn't matter. 2.560Ghz is way off from 2.4Ghz and the 2.4Ghz is a frequency hoping radio using either FASST or FHSS. His radio is the least of his concern while his video is single channel. I highly recommend that you take a HAM operator course before you fly anything.
