I am sure you do not know Indian Jyotishi enough to discard it as a pseudo-science or else you would have not bothered bickering senseless immaterial nonsense. Let people lister and decide for themselves or pursue their own path of enquiry, debate discuss and understanding. How do you produce knowledge in a scientific way? You observe. Make a theory. Design experiments to test the theory And based on evidence from the test you either confirm or modify your theory. Now if Jyotishi has to survive it has to go through this test and it will go. Now please allow me to give you a hint on why moon, planets, star constellation, comets may affect our behaviour or events. If you understand that everything in this universe is connected, if you do not, alright, let's me explain through another approach, scientifically you have to understand that all the things that are reaching Earth, beyond the Mother Earth, of course, will affect lives on this planet. For example, we are getting *EM waves* (mostly visible light and beyond- of larger wavelengths; UV and smaller wavelengths are filtered by 03-Ozone layer making the evolution of complex life processes possible on the planet by forming complex molecules), which is *light* and that is *Jyoti* is reaching earth all the time 24x7x365, but, not same everywhere or every moment. Because the earth rotates, revolves and so does other astronomical objects. Now, one may ask how would that impact a person behaviour or events on the planets? Good question. The first EM waves falling upon you surely going to have an impact that is why the exact moment is also needed I suppose. But, then, you may ask Sunlight is more powerful than all the other EM waves that are reaching the planet at least during the day which pale in comparisons. Good question. I have given you a hint now you need to do your own seeking. On a side note, I don’t think Jyotishi is going to of any use when people are hungry, as does the bullet trains or any such discovery or invention. Or society, it was better if we would have lived as tribes and have not to worry about all these bullshittery (well actually still a non-negligible portion of human lives do live as a tribe or have decayed into living as tribes- Afg, Balo, Libya, Syria etc, in India, I suppose, mostly it has been by choice for living with nature). But, we did come together to live as a society and because of our nature of mind, we have discovered, invented a lot of things. Not everything is needed all the time, for all the people in all the situation. Now don’t go on crying that I am comparing Jyotishi to bullet train. I am just giving you a plain naive example that they bother render themselves useless if we live as a tribe where our primary goal is to collect food and survive. I am doing my own seeking and I strongly urge you to do your own. I am not saying you to blindly listen to anyone but don't be blind and try to be humble enough to know that we do not know all the things and everything. Even if we used to know in the past then surely it is not true in the present that is why some form of knowledge should also keep updating. You writing all these things without having done any of your own studies is not only ignorance but shows your inability to learn new things and be open new or old ideas. And lastly understanding Jyotishi and using it in your life may help in your living but one still needs to perform their Karma to make thing happen. Consider it as a predictive tool where a well-read and learned person will be able to predict better compared to the less fortunate ones who may not account for all the factors, like any other stream of science, where you have a good scientist and a bad one. Sorry for ranting. Please don’t mind the typos and mistakes. If you get the gist it serves the purpose otherwise do as you feel like. You have a good day.

Nice to see insight on Jyotish. Please continue to share your knowledge I had like to add@ 2:45 (learned @ISKCON) Shastra and shastra has same dhatu 'sh' related to mean 'seperate/cut'. The scriptural 'shastra' cuts our attachment to matter whereas the physical 'shastra' cut the body 'sharira' meaning that which is seperate from 'atma'. There are other composite derivatives from same dhatu like kshatriya, kshati, etc. I am not a scholor though so i could have misunderstood.

Mr. Narasimha Rao ji is a very smart and kind individual. I am a Jyothishi with a background in Engineering and postgraduate education and work experience in Marketing, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the USA. I use PVR Narasimha Rao ji's Jagannatha Hora software for preparing Jyothish charts. The reason I mentioned my Engineering background is to show that Jyothisha Shastra is not superstition, it's a definitely valid Shastra with a lot of data supporting it. Otherwise, someone with this kind of engineering background would not accept it. I thank Mr. Rao for his great work in this Shastra and selflessly sharing his software and knowledge.

1. I am a skeptic once but once i learnt jyotisha myself I has no doubt it has some mystical elements. 2. I predicted month and year of jobs, marriages etc on horoscopes. 3. Having said that people have free will and astrologers knowledge also shows the accuracy. So there are really few great astrologers who can give atmost 70 percentage like kn rao or sanjay rath ,pv r narasimha rao 4. People should read the jyotisha themselves and decide. 5. Puranas contain the nakshatra info and the jyotisha to an extent. Ofcourse ancient peoole used astrology but more than that they followed karma yoga. 6. Mahabharat has many verses on astronomy and astrology also. 7. So please have open mind and understand but jyotisha became bussiness by greedy people who caused most harm .

i have a confusion , with there days majority births being c sections, how is jyotisha still able to predict, is it from the time a child is conceived or from the time it takes a breath ? if the parents choose the time of C sections then its their choice , the karma of the child cant change because of the time of C section or can they ? I am a from a a science background with strong analytical capabilities. what is the basis of jyotisha in case of c sections in today's world

As interesting as this discussion is, the central question remains unanswered - does astrology lend itself to scientific evaluation? To me, unless there are prospective and retrospective studies done on astrological frameworks and predictions, it will remain a matter of belief/faith and not a branch of credible science. It’s a catch 22 situation - procuring funding for deep research into astrology is hard (read impossible) to come by. And without research into astrology, using modern scientific tools/methods, it stands as neither validated, nor falsified.

Thank you for your profound insights in the video. I have a question which is out of curiosity and not to challenge anything, please do not take it wrong. When in video, you quote that the things were written in a mystical way so that there is an intentional possibility of ambiguity. Does that mean the knowledge would always reside in the hands of the learned and would never be transcended to the seeker in a way it has to be? Selflessly? If this is correct then generation after generation there would be a possible dilution of this sacred knowledge with the lack of affirmation. And how does the seeker ask for that selfless knowledge without any ambiguity? Please guide.

Sir i have a small querry raised from little confusion, original text attributed to Rishi Parashara u mentioned, in those text are Varas like Somvaar, Guruvaar etc mentioned. Because i heard in some other talks that this 7 days vara system is borrowed from anatolia/babylonia region during interaction with Yavani people during 3 rd BCE to 5th century AD. If it is mentioned in Parashara's text them it creates further confusion because then the text may have been updated because in ved-shakahas text related to homas and yagnas, Vaaras are not mentioned.

And then after seeing an earlier video on ayurveda where there was a discussion about referring to Jyotish in some cases, I knew I was thinking correctly. with my limited understanding i am convinced that any shastra delving for a matured sadhaka depends on his individual sadhana. for example for an advaita sadhaka his sadhana is in his manana - how intently he has been able to single pointed thinking within. This "intutition" that arises is the effect of ones sadhana. This "intutition" alone solves the cryptic & mystical teachings of the shastra.

Please read the book" Holy science" available at Self realization fellowship centres in USA and yogoda satsang society of India established by Sri paramahamsa yogananda .That book is written by a yogi whose consciousness is stabilised in sushumna naadi, by practice of Kiya yoga. This book will revolutionise the present day understanding of jyotishya sastra.researchers like PVR will gain immensely from that book upon the calculation of yugas and kaalachakra .Sri swami yukteswar has deep intuition which is born out of samadhi meditation. And all his writings are result of direct experience of truth in nirvikalpa Samadhi.

Sir, you have very nicely explained the variation in jyotisha of twins. I have one doubt. In case of two boys, suppose, born to two different couples with different background, but born at the same time and at the same place, whether their jyotisha will be same. This is only for my knowledge sake not to test you. Kindly explain. One more question is that during this period jyotishas are talking about retrograde of some grahas till September. How this is explained in the modern science.

Why in the name of our Glorious past, (we do have glorious past and we must be proud of it, ) we are going back wards and promoting wrong things. Jyotish as science (No muslim ruler, or British or Current American rulers waited for auspicious moment to launch things like we Indians do still they have more success than we do. Matching kundalis,caste etc has prevented us accepting people from other cultures in to ours (through marriages etc) and hence prevented spread of ideology resulting in contraction in number. A big negative no body wants to talk about.

I hope the you are given an opportunity to debate with the speaker all these aspects, because they are important. I agree that obsession with predetermination is debilitating, because goal oriented Karma is essential to achieving results, although in many circumstances the time of fruition cannot be predicted. But I don't presume that all these people are deluded or insincere.

@@thrinethran2885 Thank you for your comments. I am not a sanskrit scholar or astrologer. I do not claim any expertise over those subjects. but having seen the world, I realize that we are the only country in the world who obsess with astrology so much. while Gita clearly tells us not to worry about outcome and just do "Nishkam karma" we are obsessed with not only predicting outcome but kind of trying to force it. Doing yagna and wearing some precious stones etc if that helps it actually negates theory of Karma itself. Guest here might be very nice person, but I just do not understand how can some one promote things like astrology as science. He might as well believe in vodoo or black magic even why not? Its also been practiced for long time and has rituals defined. Should govt of India hire a team of astrologers to decide auspicious time to launch schemes for best results? if yes, then why dont we do it, if no why not?

@lzydwg I believe free mind is one who can think for him self without needing any body else doing interpretations for him, who is free of these unreasonable obsessions and fears,phobia, superstitions. and has backbone to stand up that I will not let you fool my fellow countrymen or human being with these chicanery. Sheeps need shepherds to show them way, guide them. define your freedom. We fear uncertainty and try to find some method to that madness. Astrology is product of that effort.But lame one. If you love fellow country men or human being: We as human race did not make progress by following scriptures, we made progress when we started thinking about it critically. Thats the reason India missed the boat of scientific revolution. btw, science fiction writers have been more successful about making predictions of our life as a society.

Pl visit great temples most of which are located in South india especially in Tamilnadu and Karntaka. Then you will understand that without having mastery over mathematics and technology, our ancestors could not have built such magnificent temples. But unfortunately macaulay education made many to think low of himself, other than that coming from the west.

Just this one thing from West is tough to beat in terms of contribution to the humanity if you know what is calculus and it's significance in modern science

I guess we can see an online course on high level sanskrit and jyotish shastra in near future. It already has a huge market in india. If it is scientifically explained, people will jump onto it . Although it is important to prove to people who just ignore relevance of these shastra , it is also important to work with people who already are into jyotish as why should they wait. And because whatever has a market would run. Therefore even if courses are started just now, they would run as at present also people are learning these science in whatever unstructured way they can and they are INFACT earning DECENT money by working full time.

I request Rajiv ji to tell Sri PVR to read this book "Holy science" written by swami sri Yukteswar an enlightened yogi who has mastered nirvikalpa samadhi and has deciphered most of the jyotishya Sartra.b coz saastras can only be deciphered by yogis who have direct perception of truth in samadhi meditation.it will be helpful to him and also the humanity bcoz he has higher level of understanding.
