Elsewhere, I read a comment which suggested that K.D. Lang, along with Karen Carpenter, represent the two most 'relaxed', pitch-perfect & sonically-pure female voices in the history of popular music. While there are other female singers who certainly are among the elite voices of the 20th & 21st centuries, I am inclined to agree with that K.D. and Karen are at the top of the list.

Why do people always post this "underrated" BS about certain singers? Just because you didn't hear them on the radio or see them on TV non-stop doesn't mean they were/are underrated. KD Lang was quite popular in her heyday and remains so today. Let's see... *puts on her reading glasses* In 1996, she was made an Officer in The Order of Canada (whatever that is, aye?😁) In 1998 she was inducted into the ArQuives: Canada's LGBTQ2+ Archives. In 2005, 08, and 18 she got more accolades. (I'm a lazy type and this is easier). In 2013 she was inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame. She directly inspired a ballet called "Balletujah!" that is set to her music and was performed by the Alberta Ballet Company in 2013. It was later broadcast by CBS. In June, it was announced that sometime in 2024 she's going to be inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. In the following years, she was nominated and/or won some kind of musical award: 1985, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2016, 2017, 2018 (Many of those years had multiple different awards. It was just easier to list years and not all the awards) Her Grammy nominations/wins are as follows: 1989(w), 1990(w), 1993, 1994(w), 1995, 2003, 2004(w).* No offense but it seems like you slept on KD Lang. Judging by the sheer amount of awards, I don't she'd be considered "underrated". (Tbf, I didn't know she'd been nominated/won that many awards but I'm American and I some of those are Canadian, which makes sense as she from Canada.) *-For anyone who wants to read what the awards actually were or anything else, here's the link. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/K.d._lang

Used to hear this at a coffee shop in my home town that was a hang out for the Goth Kids, Bohemians, Leftover Hippies, and general outsiders. Needless to say, I was one of them, as you can see from my avatar photo. This song, along with The Sundays "Here's Where the Story Ends", Crash Test Dummies' "God Shuffled His Feet", Natalie Merchant's cover of "Because The Night", and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" let me know that music from different places and view points could be compelling, moving, thought provoking, amusing, and memorable. I just turned 67 two weeks ago, and wish I could go back 30 years and relive those admittedly hard, emotionally destructive days, and sit at that coffee shop again, surrounded by the Goths, Hippies, Bohemians, and Weirdos of St Cloud, MN

I love to sing. All of my life it has been a comfort for me. I am now 64 years old. This song came out in 1992. I was 32. At that time, this was the most difficult song for me to learn. I learn by ear, although I can read sheet music on a basic level. (Timing of the notes, speed of the tempo, when to take a breath, go up or down with the note). I can usually sing the chorus of a song the very first time that I hear a song. A quick study. But, this song has so many twists and turns in and out of the sharps and flats; I had a hard time the first couple of times hearing it, figuring out where KD is going with the next note. Well, 32 years later, I still believe it’s the most difficult song that I had learned. I know many songs by my age and different genres.

Came here after watching K D Lang being hilarious interview with Dame Edna Everage. They mentioned her singing and the song constant craving. I thought, let me check her out to see if I recognise the song. Got goosebumps when I realised it was this. I've heard and sang it hundreds of times.

Ohhh man this phenomenal woman! I don't want the next generation to forget a voice and style like hers. I'm sharing her music today with my son let's all make a promise to do that. Let's not make a voice like hers be forgotten because she doesn't promote a new album or a perform live all the time .. (she's obviously chosen to take some time off.) K. D. We see you we love you & you are a TRUE original ICON let's give her, her flowers now , not when she's gone. ✌️❤️

I Recently came to Think Seriously that Kd is a kind of EXPLORATOR, & that's the way she led her career....From the "Androgénue" Masterpiece, she went on Changing of Music Styles, at each New Albums....(It was risks to take ) & She made the same with the Differents Looks she had through the Years...But she also became a Buddist and an activist....Also a painter (for herself), has a passion for cooking, & so on....So that means a busy life !!.........And coming back to Music, I'd love to hear her sing Tunes from The middle Ages, 13th century !!..... I'm Sure she could Do it !! 😊

I love k.d. What a voice. The first time I saw the video on MTV in '92, my first thought was "Waiting for Godot" ... which makes sense as Vladimir and Estragon spend the whole play waiting for someone who never shows up ...

I once read a comment that her voice was like Patsy Cline on steroids, and honestly having listened to both, I definitely hear it. Both effortlessly produced harmonies that mere mortals would blow out their vocal cords trying to do.

It is always so moving listening to K.D. Lang's voice. They are clear and emotional. Sometimes I just want to imagine my constant craving and wonder why it can be so strong. I hear this song and I know. This craving is everywhere. It is what made people move from one place to another, to try something new, or return to something old. Wow, just thanks.
