k.d. lang has been criminally undervalued in the music industry. In a sane world, she would have been on top of the charts for decades now. I saw her in concert twice and she was amazing!

kd lang started with country music, and her first album was kind of tongue-in-cheek, but the music is very good. She then moved on to pop, jazz, and more poetic and ambient music that was really hard to classify. She has the most beautiful voice you will ever hear, but she never wrote her music to be a top 40 artist, and she hasn't recorded or performed for years, which is a loss for all of us who love her.

I know I bug you too much about request, but you are one of my top reactors to my generation of music from the 60's 70's 80's and 90's....and you really react with your whole being: body, mind, emotions, and soul. And I really really appreciate and enjoy your reactions. I have even cried with you on many songs. THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! for accepting this request, my request....if I wasn't on strict budget I definitely would be sending you money once a month. However, I am an old man and I am doing my best in supporting you and your channel. Keep on keeping great music ALIVE!!!🎉🎉🎉

One Saturday morning - many years ago - I had the TV on while I was vacuuming the living room. VH1 was on just for background music and I wasn't really paying attention. When I turned off the vacuum, this song was on. I'd never heard anything like it. I turned it up and sat on the couch, dumbfounded by the crystalline and intelligent production, the brilliance and uniqueness of the song - and of course KD's phenomenal voice and talent. The video was lush - with that amazing Alberta sky behind her - and KD's seriously non-conforming look had me leaning forward in my seat with a dropped jaw. I was enthralled. As the song was ending, I jotted down her name and the song title (I would have her CD in my hands by noon) - and wished that VH1 would play it again. And like a dream come true, I got my wish. The screen went dark at the end - and then it played from the start - a second time. Apparently, the VJ loved it too.

I would suggest the next one to listen to from Twang is Pullin’ Back the Reins. For a quieter softer slower song look for her version of Heaven by Talking Heads. Of the uncountable numbers of live music performances I have seen in my life is a warm star lit summer night where kd took both Heaven and Hallelujah to another level.

I highly suggest her cover of "Theme From Valley Of The Dolls" and "Till The Heart Caves In" both from her brilliant "Drag" album, "drag" as in dragging on a cigarette as most of the songs reference smoking of one kid or another. These are two of my most favorite songs by her and her achingly beautiful version of "Theme From Valley Of The Dolls" bests even the virtually perfect original by the legendary Dionne Warwick.
