Giving free hugs to your fans may seem ok at first glance. But it actually turns out to be a bad idea. Also the fact someone snuck into an idol’s house and the fact that an ordinary person was able get near a group of idols who were performing on stage shows that the security is severely lacking. These idols need 24 hour security protection because there’s too many obsessed fans.

Taeyeon at the airport in Indonesia in 2017. The fans mobbed her and she had no security to help escort her to the departures!! 😣 She fell too and there was even a report of a fan that sexually harassed her. It was chaos...I was so pissed at SM at the time

I wish companies would take more serious actions right away and not just threatening to take action if those things continue. It's way too often that the response is "please stop or we have to consider blocking you" when it's obviously not enough and it would be way more appropriate to take legal actions. there's also been instances of idols being followed to their family's homes. One sasaeng broke into Haechan's family home and another broke into Jaehyun's hotel room and took a video while she was in there. It's insane the lengths they'll go in order to get closer to idols.

This is why I always hesitate to listen to rumors spread online about idols and “scandals.” For sure, there are some idols who’ve behaved poorly and should receive backlash but there are instances I’ve seen where anonymous accounts accuse idols of cheating and so on but there’s no evidence and it just ruins the idols careers. I heard that those instances were allegedly faked by sasaengs that have grudges against those idols. Sometimes the situations can be true and real, but sometimes they’re not and the latter is horrific to think about. Idols are not protected and that’s devastating. The biggest reason Korean idols have such an insane cult following is because they push the parasocial relationships the most. It’s the worst on the planet. I wish the culture can shift into not doing that, but in this day and age, that doesn’t seem remotely likely.

I've never understood how people who are classified as a "fan" would want to hurt the person they idolize. They need to take legal action on all occasions because these people don't believe in consequences and consequences seem to be all they need. These artists drop charges or decide to not press charges and that just makes these people with mental issues believe what they did must not be that bad.
