LEEZ and Ollounder are the 8th and 9th members of Dreamcatcher so your best chance to work with them would be on a side project, like R.O.S.E Blue.

Not many people are familiar with Drum & Bass and Dreamcatcher is the only group who incorporates this unique genre every year amongst their discography. It just matches so beautifully with rock! Ive always thought that their producers must be fans of Pendulum and thats where the influence comes from when making these tracks for Dreamcatcher.

Also ATEEZ in their song Good Lil Boy (it makes sense since LEEZ and OLLOUNDER r in the production team EDEN-ARY, even though the song was produced by Hongjoong)

this being dreamcatchers first “summer” release i think they nailed the assignment perfectly! the beat for the rhythm section in the verses reminded me a lot of reggae/alternative rock like 311 (although much faster in the DC song) and really gave me summer vibes. i also like how they included a lot of horror film trope sounds in like the end of dami’s rap with the sound bit from psycho and other elements like the music box or childrens laughter. kept it fresh but very dreamcatcher! edit: grammar
@yusufnabiil3 жыл бұрын
These girls slays as always! This song was produced by Leez & Ollunder, they're the ones who puts the rock element in Dreamcatcher's songs. For the choreography, it was done by Hwang Sooyeon. She's so close with the Dreamcatcher members and already made several dances too! And a little note, Leez & Ollunder also produced songs for a Ateez

I don't know much about music production but this release feels really cohesive to me in that it flows very smoothly, the pacing doesn't change much except during the bridge and overall the song is very melodic throughout. By comparison, Boca and Odd Eye can feel a bit disjointed at times. I'm also not always a fan of how Leez and Ollounder handle Dami's raps (random trap section out of nowhere with heavy vocal processing) but I thought it was very tastefully done here and it doesn't take away from the vibe of the song. BEcause definitely has a slightly lighter sound than most DC title tracks, but there are so many interesting hooks (Gahyeon's line in the chorus especially) and I love how they lean into a more mysterious, dark fantasy style. Definitely one of their best title tracks.
@spiralwarrior65693 жыл бұрын
Well, well, well. Hi there! I love your analysis. Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's adlibs is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. One commenter noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". That commenter is Jad Hamizan and he deserves all the credit for noticing that. The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even include the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your expression is blue, blue. Your face is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.

At first sight, it might seem that the song "BEcause" is about toxic/abusive relationships and destructive behavior out of love for a particular person, but it is not. The meaning is different, and it is much deeper. Let's start with the fact that the very name "BEcause" can be interpreted as "The cause of sadness", because "BE" in Chinese is a hieroglyph meaning "sadness", and "cause" is an English word. This turns the whole view of the song. The lyrics in essence about deception (primarily about self-deception) and being obsessed with someone. The MV and song contain the message that our worst enemy is none other than ourselves - the culprits of our sadness. It's not so much that Dreamcatcher was replaced by doubles at the end, but that their dark side, which eventually took over the other, is revealed as the true self as a result of a growing obsession with the obsessive desire to be loved, which pushes them into an endless cycle, where they simultaneously act as perpetrators and victims, as well as puppeteers and puppets. The clip was inspired by the American movie "We" about evil doubles who decided to replace real people (you can see many references, including in the choreography itself). There, as in "BEcause", there are two colors - red and blue. Red represented doubles, while blue represented originals. In the Dreamcatcher clip, it will be the other way around. Red implies their real, while blue is their ideal version. Each time they pretended to be their ideal version (the hourglass symbolizes the temporary nature of pretense and deception), which to some extent brought them satisfaction, but actually played with them, which caused them pain, but since they were unable to resist the temptation (the dark side of Sua, holding out another an apple that she bites off), they continued to wear masks. They wanted to be always loved, and in fact it did not matter who, but with their obsession and creepy behavior, the girls only repulsed others even more. In the end, they reveal their true selves, with the naive hope that the loved one will nevertheless remain on their side. When their true self begins to manifest, some damage has already been done, and it will not be possible to escape from themselves and their sadness.

They got back to horror genre and it felt so at home. Massive upgrade visually, and the second verse has so much swag and reminds me of the matrix ost.

Everyone at Dreamcatcher Company deserves a raise. This was another masterpiece from everyone involved but especially showcased when performed by the members. As you said, every section accurately represents a respective members and to match music with human personalities throughout a song is hard to do. There is just so much going on in DC songs in general, but then to also have the tone of the song match the theme of the group is incredible and they've done it for the majority of their comebacks. Also listening to it one more time with your video, I realized the transition between Dami's rap and JiU's lines is absolutely seamless. It gives me so much life.
