Did it in 92. An unbelievable incredible adventure. We did total 4 weeks on the baltoro. It is probably the most awesome mountain architecture on earth. 10k feet or more of mountains above you. It's a hard strenuous trek. Must be in good shape. Joe Tasker once said the trek to K2 base is probably the hardest thing you can do except for mountain climbing. We started from area north of Dasso. The road had rock slides so jeeps couldn't go to Askole. We camped at Askole, Paji, Urducas, Gore and spent 5 days in snow blizzard at Concordia. On the 6th day the skies cleared. Morning sunrise revealing K2, Broad Peak, G4. It was unbelievable high. We did our trek to k2 bc. Rugged walk. No climbers. It was late Aug early Sept. The Pakistani guide and porters and cook were great. I'll never forget this trip. Go for it!

The Karakorum is the most stunning mountain landscape in the world, and I've visited most of them. I've done several mountaineering expeditions there back in the 80's, and my god, Skardu looka exactly the same as back then. We had to start walking from Dassu though - 2 days just to get to Askole (and, looking at that road, will still prefer to walk).

You need to take a 4 hour jeep ride from Skardu and then hikes about 6 days to get to base camp. It's not to difficult if your physically fit although you have to camp every night which is rough! @@aiyshah_shahidchannel

Hi David - Many thanks for this amazing and beautiful film. Without question the best K2 BC video currently available on KZbin. I'm off to do the trek itself on the 23rd of June, so I've watched ‘a few’ and yours is by far the best - the rest don't even come close. It's also been a pretty valuable resource for knowing what to expect; terrane, people's clothing choices etc. Stunningly shot, and not without significant efforts at those altitudes I'd be guessing. Great work, keep it up and thanks again 😉👍

I'd also suggest bringing an extra sleeping mat, some of the camp sites are rather rocky! Have a wonderful trip.
