Kaabo Mantis Brake light repair

If you have a first batch mantis your brake light may stop working. Here is how to fix it with a soldering Iron and a 1/2W 100 Ohm resistor :)
Be aware that newer mantis may have this fixed upfront so you don't have to do this.

Great detail and video. Question, as my throttle no longer powers the motor. Scooter is practically new, after I unplugged my battery. I made sure all wires were tight where the battery was. But, could any wires going from the brake light to the controller cause me to lose all power from the throttle?

Is the brake light 12volts? I'm trying to add brakelight/taillight to my kaabo wolf warrior but there are 4 wires inside and I'm confused. I thought there would be 3. 1 for negative and 2 for power 1+ for taillight and 1+ for brakelight I cant find wiring information anywhere

I guess you wpild have to add an additional 12V Converter to get the power. There should be an unused black/red line coming from the controller but anyway space is more of a problem in the Mantis.

if i connect small motorcycle light, can i connect it to the front small light cable? is it able to handle the power?

No, because it is connected to a very thin cable so it can not support much load.

hey bro, can u help me? i got a brand new mantis last week. was coming home from work tonight and got the e10 message and it turned off nd wont stay on since. it turns off immediately too and from what i've read its a controller error which considering how new it is and how it shut right off, do you think a wire got disconnected?

Unfortunately, this mistake (e10) is common with the Kaabo Mantis. The same is currently happening in Germany with the IO Hawk Legend which also comes from the Kaabo factory. It is either the controller or the motor that sends an error. If it is still very new, I would advise you to contact the dealer first about the warranty. Alternatively, you can open the deck yourself and check the plugs. However, it could be fixed with a software update at the dealer or the controller or the motor must be replaced. This should preferably always be done by the dealer. Especially if you have only bought the device, 100% of it is still covered by the warranty.

On newer Versions it may be sealed with some kind of silicone or so. Other then that it may just sit tight...

i guess that may be the brake sensors on the brake lever. I would start to check there.

Excellent work. Is 100 ohm the recommended resistor value or would there be a better suit.. I have no knowledge with this but can certainly solder, t The 100ohm resistors I see have a different colour code to the ones you have used could you share the spec so I can make sure I do the job properly. 100 ohm is perfect. Just buy a restitor with 100 ohm and test it with a multimeter.

Hello. I bought an Yume M11 electric scooter. The scooter came with the rear light broken (the red diffuser ) and because was mounted on the rear fender after a while broke completely. Yume sent me a replacement but now I have no brake light. I changed the connectors between them and the led's are working either 2 either 3 from 5 total which 3 I presume should be for the brake light. I understood that the controller has a low and a high brake wire. Is the high 12V? I will mount a separate brake light but I see other connectors with only 1 wire. It means the wire is only +? If yes which one. And the ground is common with other ground wire? Please help me. [Smile]

Hi, I am sorry but i would assume that the Yume is totally different wired from a Mantis or some other scooters. I could only guess and that is a bad base for advice.

@@ralfhalbknapp1104 Hello and Happy new year. I believe uder different brands the functions are the same. The computer/display/accelerator on mine is the same. I discovered in the mean time that the light is controlled via a chip which sends power trough the wires only when the led's are working aka it senses a consumption. Maybe when the lamp broke caused a short and fried the chip. That means a controller replacement. I want to see what Yume has to tell about it. Worst case i have to buy another one. Thank you for the reply. Seems nobody knows what the high brake wire function is and why in all controller is only one. The low brake two.

hallo ralf, ich suche nach einer Lösung das "blinking" Bremslicht abzustellen, denn beim Bremsen blinken die hinteren UND vorderen Turnsignal-Lichter. Dieses "Blinken" möchte ich abstellen. Vorne soll es beim Bremsen gar nicht leuchten bestenfalls. Beim Bremsen soll das Licht hinten nur stärker aufleuchten. Hast du eine Lösung?

You would need a dc-dc converter to get from the 67,2V of the battery to like 12V or what ever you need. While These converter can be had at a cheap price you also have to fit it some where into the Scooter. So It may be easier to start with an external 12V Battery anyway and have All in a bag.

Ralf do you know if one can replace /and -or make an extension in the regular backlight cables? and attach the extension cord to these turn signals? Hi, meines Wissens nach laufen die Mantis Lampen alle mit Nennspannung (=48V) und nicht mit 12V, (abgesehen vom Rück und Bremslicht!) das kann aber mittlerweile anders sein.

Bei mir ist es jetzt so, daß das ABS immer aktiv ist. Auch wenn ich die Bremse gar nicht betätige. Was kann das sein?

Welches ABS? Der Minimotors Mantis hat zwar eine ABS Funktion die man im Display ein und Ausstellen kann aber dieses Setting verändert nur das Verhalten der Elektsichen Bremse. Wenn es dauernd bremst hat dein Bremssensor vielleicht was.

Hi, du kannst innen die Seitenlichter einfach abstecken. Wenn du das Kabel verfolgst gehten die Kabel von beiden Seitenlichtern dann in einen Stecker mitten im Batteriefach zusammen den man einfach abklemmen kann. Du musst dafür das Batteriefach öffnen.

Hi, I'm reaching out to as many people as i can. I have a mantis 10 DUO 18.2AH 60V scooter SN KBTL121120082331. I'm trying to find a wiring diagram for these two black ESC's (controller boxes) but no one can help me so far. Is there anyone here that could maybe supply me with a photo of how the connects are all set up? or a diagram or anything. I have tried the manufacturers and many stores. No one can help me so far.. Please if anyone has the model with the two black controllers can you please please help me with a photo or anything :( I beg you.

Depends on your Skill. I typically disconnect the battery if i change or solder parts that can cause a short.

I wonder, Mantis have speed limiter cable as many other scooters, unplugging the cable removes the speed limit, so I wonder if it is possible to make it into a on/off switch somewhere outside instead of plug/unplug inside the deck via simple on/off switch/button, what do you think?
