Another fault is that the lubricant stiffens with age, causing the buttons to be hard to press and being difficult to unlock. I was lucky to get two on my toolbox open and found that 10 minutes in warm kerosene in an ultrasonic cleaner returned them to easy operation followed by a bath in graphited lock oil
