Kafka was never a truely a loser. He kept passing the education section of the JDSF but the practical physical part he failed. He joined the kaiju cleaning company before he gave up. This is reference in episode 2 and I think I remember it being mentioned in the manga. Also cleaning up the dead Kajiu takes courage to do, especially dealing with kaiju guts. It was hilarious seeing No 10 and the Vice Captain to work together. I figured long before it was reviled why Kafka was unable to get anything from the kaiju suits was because he was a perfect human/kaiju hybrid. I do admit I didn't conect part of the reason why Kafka got chosen as a host for No 8 was because long term exposure to kaiju dna. I figured part of Kafka getting chosen as No 8 host was strong will and wanting to kill all kaiju trying to kill humanity.

I think no. Since he's not the only person to work at cleaning company. But I recall, Kaiju no.9 and no.8 are the same species of Kaiju. And the first host of no.9 is a member of Cleaning company that replaced Kafka's position. This makes me wonder that, maybe he was right. But still, why does he can't control Kafka? Or find a new Host?

Kaiju no. 9 and Parasite Kaiju no. 8 are the same species of Kaiju. The only difference is that how they possess their vessel. As we know, no. 9 acquire his vessel by devouring them. However, no.8 choose his vessel by entering bodies. And what confuses me is, Kaiju no. 8 really planned to be devoured by Kafka, not actually controlling him. This marks my speculation that the Parasite Kaiju no.8 is indeed not evil entity. However, his plan is still not yet revealed. If Kaiju no. 8 plans to takeover Kafka, he had done it earlier, the first he entered Kafka's body. Instead, he did is, he just make Kafka a Kaiju but he didn't control him. Maybe the Kaiju really failed to control Kafka's brain, but. He is a Kaiju, if he really did cannot control Kafka's brain, he could destroy it and find another host. There's so much mysteries on Kaiju no. 8 as it's like, he really plans to eradicate all kaijus and protecting humanity.

You could argue that the _way_ they absorb humans is part of how they become strong. No. 9 jumps from body to body and takes a little from each body when he gets the chance. While No. 8 slowly integrates itself into a body, slowly taking over said body as the body grows stronger through continued training. These differences showcase the differences in how each perceive the world, which is why both kaiju are at odds with one another. So No. 8 may or may not be evil but the fact that it's willing to lend it's power to humans shows that unlike No. 9, who sees humans as nothing more than spare bodies, No. 8 realizes that humans have a lot of potential and through them can become stronger itself.

In my opinion, his transformation is kind of a deus ex machina. Would have been more interesting if it slightly boosted his physical strength to barely above regular humans. Enabling him to lift the max of 300lbs. That way he’d still have the motivation to get stronger without knowing he’s got an ace in his back pocket the whole time. Then after getting into the organization and doing well, his transformation kicks in overtime. Once he transforms it can take a psychological turn to see how his transformation slowly allows him to lose his humanity. Meaning he’d struggle not to eat humans or go on a rampage. Then it would have felt more like a battle of figuring out which side he’s really on. Instead he’s granted powers he shows no problem controlling except for comedic effect.

Kaiju no.8 is the best manga I've ever read because of how as realistic as it can be with this whole situation. He used to be a humble guy, which makes sence because of his age and likely not going to the universties like other candidates but he was able to be succesful because of his determination and probably some help from his abilities. (Everything is debatable and I guess what I'm saying is debatable too, but I just liked the manga.)
