Kahlenberg T3 Ship/Yacht Horn

This is one of my Kahlenberg T3s. This horn is commonly found on larger line boats,tugs, and yachts. This horn is also the Washington capitols goal horn! The T stands for triple chime and the 3 is for size 3 powerchambers. This horn dates too

I did want to mention (after reading the description) that I’ve un-ironically seen/heard more T3’s in hockey arenas than I have on actual ships. The Capitals are probably the highest profile team that still uses one, but once you start looking in the Minor Leagues they’re shockingly common. Grand Rapids, Utica, Rochester, and Hartford in the American Hockey League all have T3’s of some variety, while the ECHL has a T3 in Kalamazoo, and probably most notoriously in Wheeling, WV

The Red Wings now have T3 as well, 3 trumpets but all pointed in a different direction.

The Islander, HSK,& San Diego use T3A's which sound completely diffrent

what's different to give them that vibraty fire engine sound verses the clear sound of train horns....

Probably due to them being all cast bronze/brass construction

Haven’t done it yet. I currently don’t have a 123. I may purchase one in the future but they are around $8000 so lots of $$$

the F3, Q-3a, KMJ-234, and KDT-123 are the best-sounding Kahlenberg horns in my opinion

These horns are found on many mega yachts as well as inland river line boats. I worked on the David K. Wilson and it had a nice sounding T3

it is im pretty sure in this video Im pretty sure his is tuned slightly differently because my Hometown hockey team has this horn and it sounds higher pitched

@poltergeistwastaken some teams have theirs tuned differently like the fort Wayne komets and the Kansas city mavericks, which is higher tuned. I wonder why the tuning for the ny islanders and the Henderson silver knights, which sound at least similar-ish to the komets and islanders, are different than the more common tuning like the hartford wolfpack and the grand rapids griffins

Much deeper. A K5LA may seam a little louder in close proximity due to its higher pitched chord,not much though. but the T3 carry’s much further due to the deeper tone and larger more powerful powerchambers

T3A has a higher pitch(shorter bell set) I have a T3A it’s just not on the channel yet

Thanks wanted to know because the islanders and a lot of minor league hockey teams have t3s and t3as and they had the lower tuning and the higher tuning.

@@Always-on-it954The capitals have very secretive about it for years until someone I know back in november uncovered a flickr photo from 4-5 years ago that a COA employee took of the catwalk and there the horn was this whole time.
