I enjoy your videos. Funny coincidence: years ago my father explained me the short amount of time you have on the ball in a similar way and the pictures where Havertz could have received the ball where great. Nevertheless: he was bought for his goal contributions in the first place(from Leverkusen). So he can be productive and I think it would be fair to expect more than he did at Chelsea. Something in the area of 15 GA or more.🤷♂ I am open to see where this could go but even of the ball movement should be measurable. Toni Kroos at Real had a statistic how much less goals Real were scoring when he didn`t play (not through is GA ) etc, so for Havertz it could be the amount of progressive passes in a game, shots from other players ( because of space) ...something tangible

Lol he’s ass. Watched him couple of times at Chelsea and was ass. Can’t pass. Poor finisher, poor dribbler, inconsistent ball control, makes unnecessary fouls which reliefs teams when Arsenal presses. This was when he was playing as a striker at Chelsea. Even against Arsenal when he was at Chelsea, we saw how average he was and missed 2 big chances any competent striker would score. All these “analytic” videos on KZbin are mostly bs because they over analyse players and make things that are surface level skill seem like it’s a world class trait. Havertz is like Gilberto Silva. His presence and function on the pitch is not noticed until he's absent. These types of players create chaos by making runs and entering spaces off the ball that makes life difficult for the opposition, but much easier for teammates. This can be hard to notice for people that don't know how to watch football and only watch the ball being kicked around. Once you start to watch the off the ball movements of individuals and the team as a whole, you'll see what football really is.

I think a better analogy would be Arteta in his prime (i.e. at Everton). Quietly making a significant contribution, and you only noticed how much he contributed when he didn't play. That may be why Arteta was so keen to bring him in. But personally, I am still on the fence. Great breakdown of the role Havertz is playing at Arsenal. The role is very specific from what I've seen so far. Stay between lines of midfield and attack not really straying too far from that position, but always available to receive the ball to link play, push forward and be in the right place for at least a shot on goal or a tap in. But i too would like to see more controlled aggression and hunger from him which i really believe will benefit his overall game. No doubt Arteta sees a quality in the guy hence the 65 mill outlay, but once he truly makes this position his own, adds the aggression PACE and hunger to his skillset i think he will be such a problem to any opposition team as well as giving Arsenal that little something different but effective to keep opponents off balance.... I've got my fingers crossed Havertz wholeheartedly buys into whats required...

Arsenal need more top-level „pitch minutes“ to take CL seriously without sacrificing EPL championship run. Kai is perfect in this sense. He’s generally healthy, versatile, can start against any team in the world and provide value, and let’s us play in new ways (e.g., long ball outlet and cross target). That people are judging him because he didn’t break more ankles against two low block teams at the start of the season is definitely a sign that football iq isn’t always where it needs to be

True. But if oddeguard gets injured or saka. He's the only player that we have that could cover both with out a big drop off except maybe trossard.. Having that in the team is worth the 16m a year we paid. People get caught up on the 65m. But him and Raya cost 19m this summer in the eyes of ffp. And if you look at Chelsea today 100m player missed a pen. And the other gave one away. Kai was also our second top scorer over the preseason. And shut down man city's passing from the back. As well as posimg different propositions of his own. Changing variations of play, similar to Man City. Ultimately you won't be able to pass verdict until the end of the season because we so many games and competitions to compete in. I do not understand all the Kai havertz apologists. His off the ball qualities do not make up for a player that goes missing for large parts of matches. He is a midfielder who struggles to impose himself defensively or make incisive passes, a striker who struggles to finish, and a tall player who struggles to impose himself physically. We instantly played better against Fulham and returned to some of our past fluidity when Havertz was removed. Playing him at the expense of Gabriel is like playing down half a man all game. I am hopeful Arteta will develop a him as he is versatile. I want there to be a player I rate buried in there. But he currently should not be in the starting 11. Spending 65 mil on an inconsistent squad player who flopped at his last club seems like it was just a mistake. Let’s stop pretending Kai Havertz has some kind of hidden unappreciated “magical quality”.

The positions (some) you showed him standing in, he can't receive the ball in. He's not particularly quick or amazingly strong so it wouldn't stick in those situations anyway. He's very good in the air He's technically secure The rest of the things are definitely measured in Goals and Assists. That isn't reductive it is the way the game is assessed. There was a headline on a recent Athletic article that asked the question "Is the havertz an 8? a cf? a winger?", and reading that headline reminded me of another german player who is also very difficult to profile and is also quite misunderstood. If you haven't guessed it already, I am of course talking about thomas muller. But of course unlike kai, tom actually has/had good stats to back him up. The best Club from business perspective is Brighton. Getting young players, training & polishing them and then selling for very lucrative prices, and still they can compete for the top positions after sales.

I think he has been really good for us… every player takes 2-3 full games to settle in properly. He created 2 big chances for un against forest. Taking them in account he could be having 2 assists that game.

If he is really on 280k a week, then it is not a good business on our end.

I agree that if he gains the confidence with players and receives the ball centrally it would be helpful otherwise we are predictable with Martinelli and Saka. It would be better if he is able to run at the defenses with the ball which we lack presently.

Not comparing them directly but Gilberto had the same issues. He was so good positionally that his sheer positioning ended attacks but he wasn't winning blood and thunder tackles so often wasn't immediately apparent. Thankfully people eventually started to realise what he brought to the team and he got the respect he deserved. Kai may be in a similar position.

@@CatFuntCanton A small club?? we are bigger than Chelsea in every way. We have bigger revenues, bigger fan base and history shows overall we have been more successful. Although the actually point i was making was in terms of a club that looks after their players not in terms of success.

@@RapidFire218 U were bigger than Chelsea in the 20th century but in the modern world which all u Arsenal yiftis struggle to comprehend, you're just a small club who forever give out history lessons because that's all u have left.

It would be really interesting to get your thoughts on what are the best stats to directly or indirectly measure his effect on output / productivity etc.
@David-SA62 Жыл бұрын
There is none mate, he’s output is “off ball” work which can be done by any mid player. Delusional
@russelsheartinacage Жыл бұрын
@@David-SA62 you're calling me delusional for asking a question? There are such things as proxies that could be used to infer Kai's contribution indirectly. It's quite common to use proxies to measure something indirectly that is hard to measure directly. Who's the deluded one here?
@David-SA62 Жыл бұрын
@@russelsheartinacage It was a statement in that those stats are arbitrary because the position naturally demands that, the barometer of the position already exists. Hence trying to come up with another metric for a player that isn’t actually the tangible stats is delusional. If he was at our rivals we would be rightly calling out this delusion. It is calling out the mere notion not you as per se.

This is actually my problem with havertz, unlike dele Ali and muller he actually has good ability on the ball with the capacity to make things happen( pre Chelsea). It’s ok to be happy with his off the ball work but still want more from him on the ball.

I’m so excited to see you did this piece on Havertz! I just love this signing of all the 3 we made. He’s the one who’s profile and role requires a lofty perspective and extensive technical knowledge about the game; The rest of the other roles of the new signings are difficult but not as complicated as the Havertz role. That’s why I say he’s the most important player for us among the 3 new players. I see him making our offensive players far more deadlier already. The only quick improvement I hope for is his finishing. Odegaard struggled for nearly 3 seasons to get it right, now he’s deadly. So I have no doubt whatsoever about Havertz finishing medium and long term. For now his off the ball work is 💯 exciting for the team!

I really think we're clutching on straws here..
@sargonsblackgrandfather2072 Жыл бұрын
But we know what Tonali (and many players like him) does and he cost around the same. If we’d gotten him we wouldn’t need hundreds of video essays trying to work out the enigma we’d just have a class midfielder. Now I hope Havertz proves the doubters wrong I really do, but I just wonder if we really needed to spend so much money on a player we can only hope becomes what we need instead of getting that in the first place.
@CatFuntCanton Жыл бұрын
You really just have to trust the process and whenever things do go wrong just excuse it with "It's Mikels first job in charge so needs more money and time" or "Refs and VAR are against us"
