I thought about this too, but Big mom has never talked about 'collecting' Kaido either... if he was a unique race or creature, she would want to have him for her island or collection book (kind of like Brook and King or the 'unicorn'). It is one of the few reasons to suspect Kaido is just a man who ate a mythical or Ancient Zoan fruit.

Just going to throw this out there. Yamato isn't Kaido's blood child. Yamato was hatched from the egg on Roger's ship. Somehow Kaido got procession of the egg after or right before hatching and since he was the [last] of his kind he decided to make Yamato his child. Also Rocks may have had Kaido on his crew just for the fact that he was a dragon possibly linking the need for a dragon with the will of D. or one piece. Possibly dragons have extended childhood and senior years but quick puberties. Possibly I'm totally wrong. Possibly your fish is a cannibal.

Kaido's original title was also introduced to us as "The Strongest Creature in the World" Because his pirates are known as the "Beast Pirates" I guess we didn't take it literally enough. I personally really like the theory that Kaido REALLY is an actual dragon.

Great video Matt! I did notice Oda never actually called Kaido a human. He was either mentioned by name or called the strongest beast in the world. Whitebeard was the strongest man in the world. And yes, Oda said the land we see and know as Wano was formed by an ancient race, and we also know Ryuma slayed a dragon several hundred years ago. All foreshadowing to what's happening now, and this all leads me to an even bigger question. If Kaido is the last full blooded dragon in the world, what about the giant egg on Roger's ship?? Is it a dragon egg?? Also what happened to it???

hey tekking, when luffy took down donflamingo kaido cried because this shatered his dream of having an all DF user crew, you remember that right? so with that being the case isnt it unlikely that he has no DF? how would he have an all df user crew if he himself doesnt have one? also, people are still talking as if kaido wants to kill himself no matter what, but based on what we recently learned about him i dont think thats the case at all, he doesnt want to die randomly, he wants to die in a way that will make him go down in history and be remembered and respected or at least feared, like roger oden or whitebeard were, him jumping off the sky island was just a drunken decision he made, he doesnt actually want to die that way.

When you said carry on the will of the dragons, it made me wonder if there is maybe something to that with the Will of D. One thing I I am left wondering if Kaido is a real dragon, is maybe dragons don't need oxygen to survive. That would explain why he doesn't drown himself because he has a means of breathing underwater, or fly into the vacuum of space, or hang himself etc since he wants to die so badly, maybe that isn't an avenue of death for him.

Thus that would also mean that he is inferior to every creature, when fighting within the ocean. Given Kaido's title and the way in which others refer to him, that doesn't make any sense. At this point it's pretty obvious. Kaido is a dragon who can shapeshift *naturally* into an Oni/demon.

Your description of Kaidos flame clouds brings to mind how we hear from Ceasar (I think?) that the fruit Momonosuke ate was Vegapunks failed attempt at making a devil fruit, and I was always confused by that because it seems that the only thing about Momonosuke is that he has a hard time controlling when he transforms, but now I realize that it's probably that Vegapunk was trying to make a fruit that could straight up turn the consumer into a copy of Kaido, but the only special thing we see Momonosuke doing with his power is make those little puffy cloud things he climbs on in Punk Hazard. Meaning that by that standard it really is a failed experiment, though it's probably the closest he was able to get during his time on Punk Hazard

I had this theory earlier about Dragon's living in the sky islands. In the Skypia arc we learned how island clouds are formed from the chemical pyrobrine being released from sea prism stone during volcanic activity. With that in mind you'd figure that with how Wano has access to lots of sea prism, and how their craftsmen are the only ones who really know how to use it, that their would be a sky island right above or near Wano. I had the idea that dragons in the One Piece world might come from that particular Sky Island. Perhaps that's were Kaido lived before either being banished or destroying the whole place like Enru did to Berka. Just a thought I had

Headcanon: The reason Momo's fruit was considered a failure wasn't because he didn't have control over it. The failure was because it turned him into a regular dragon. A real zoan fruit would've included a hybrid form. Kaidou could just be a dragon and never have a hybrid.

This is the thing: First, we had never seen Marco's hybrid form, we have seen him transmorming his limbs, and that's not how hybrid bird forms works. Remember Pel? When he went hybrid, he had 2 arms, 2 legs and 2 WINGS, also, his head turned into a birds head, Marco can only transform his limbs or go full phoenix. (This is the reason I think lafitte has a mythical zoan, the first time we saw his transformed, only his arms transformed, he still had his normal head and feet) This is how I think mythilogical zoan fruits work: First: You can't go hybrid but you can transform parts of your body, we had never seen any other zoan users doing this, only Marco and Lafitte. Second: You also gain the power of the powers of said mythological creature. PS: The dragon fuit can't be an ancient fruit because the dinosaur fruits are already the ancient model of the dragon fruit, also, If dragons can't be mythological because they exist, then dinosaur fruits can't be ancient fruits, because they still exist on little garden. Fun fact: Hotori’s a dragon. You see he... uh, he... nope, no bullshitting my way out of this one. But he does control a dragon if you do remember from episode 163 his brother Satori seen riding upon his mighty sphere dragon controlled by a measly string. And now that he has been beaten by Sanji and his Ordeal of Love all his techniques were passed down to Hotori. Those sphere clouds are pretty darn heavy, and Hotori can hold a bunch of them to form a mighty dragon. His strength is incomparable! #JusticeForHotori

Maybe Kaido drinks because he truly is the last of his kind and therefore doesn't have anyone to pass his will onto. Will is so important in One Piece, but because Kaido is so alien to the world being a dragon and all, he doesn't feel like anyone can truly succeed him or understand him. Even Yamato, his son, refuses to follow in his footsteps. So he's turned to drinking, seeing if falling from sky islands can finally make him feel something, and reveling with care-free pirates to help relieve the depression of being so alone. Also, maybe the reason the World Government has captured him but never killed him is because the tenryuubito want to enslave Kaido to be like the dragons of old. He manages to escape every time, however, because he realizes that life is even more empty and painful than the one he's currently living.
