Hey there Timothy, Thanks so much for making this video. It's so amazing that you've put the entirety of your experience with us all in one place for others to see and the amount of time and thought that went into it is staggering. Your heart is in the right place and we wish you the best of luck going forward with Dragonfly Khukuri & Knives. Take care, Andrew and the team at Kailash Blades.

IMO they are the best Kukri maker in Nepal without question. Love their Work!!!! I have a couple of their knives myself.

Just got my first of four blades I ordered from Kailash. I'm very impressed with the beautiful, Tin Chirra, Angkhola, 15" blade. The quality and fit/finish are great! To top things off, it was delivered 10 earlier than I expected it to be! I'm looking forward to receiving my Pensioner, Scurge Anniversary, and Ek Chirra designs to be delivered in the near future.

This is an older vid so not sure if I'll get a reply but, I'd love to know what length grip you went with on that Pensioner. I'm buying my first one here in a few days.

Thanks for the video. I really want a Kailash Kukri but have been contemplating the different designs. I told Andrew what I wanted and he recommended the mk1 with a standard grind for chopping splitting bushcraft tasks or a historical British issue for carving. He also said they will soon be redesigning the mk1 basing it on the fort jones model. I personally think this version of the mk1 is beautiful and looks very utilitarian. I am also considering a modern standard issue or panawal. Any Experience with those ones?

Howdy ti K, Thank you for watching the video and for the question. I have the pleasure of owning several Kailash Blades khukuri. My personal favorites are the Pensioner and the Mutiny. I like the Pensioner so much I bought two ( one with wood handle and a kydex scabbard). I have both the MK1 and the ”Historic British Service” BSI. The MK1 I ordered it with a shorter blade 11” with the standard grind and a kydex scabbard. The ”Historic British Service” BSI has the performance edge. I like their performance edge the best. Standard and performance edges are both convex, which is tougher edge geometry suitable for chapping task. The performance edge is a bit thinner. I demonstrated the Kailash “Historic British Service” BSI with performance edge against other BSI khukuri and it held up very well. I like all my edges to glide through paper like butter. The standard edge took me a while to get it to the point it would cut the paper and not tear it. The standard edge will work fine for most of you field chores. It doesn’t come with a chakmak or karda. So with the standard edge you will want to carry a small utility knife like a Mora for your small detail work. With that being said though, the performance edge, once you aquatint yourself with using your khukuri, will be able to do even the fine detail work. I really like my MK1, it performs exceptionally well. What is great with the Kailash team is that they will build your khukuri the way you want it. Blade size, handle material, polished, satin or raw finish, hardware and scabbard, traditional, kydex, or western leather style, even for both left or right handed people. I hope that I was able to shed some light that can assist you in making your choice. Thank you for the great question and thanks again for watching my video. Namaste 🙏😎

Timothy McLaughlin thanks for the very detailed reply. I ordered a cheaper Kukri from another manufacturer and if I enjoy the pattern I’ll probably pick up a Kailash pensioner, mutiny, or mk1 with performance grind. Thanks!

@@tleek Hey there mate! We've got that new mk1 pattern locked in now and are just waiting to get some photos of the correct size so we can update the product page. Here's a pic of one we made recently i.redd.it/0tw6g52floh41.jpg Hopefully your last knife didn't put you off khukuris for life though! If you need any guidance or input feel free to email us at info@kailashblades.com or customdesign@kailashblades.com for anything a bit tricker. Take care, Andrew

If you where to only get one which would you get? I would use it for Bushcraft and as a machete.

Say good sir , is the performance grind armsy enough to pull through constant usage ?
@kailashblades3 жыл бұрын
For sensible daily work in wood then absolutely :) We have a lot of people that use performance grind khukuris as daily users where they need that extra sharpness

Could you, pease, specify the exact size of the Mutiny. There is no 13in, but 12 and 14.

Hey there! This was a 14 inch but the pattern has been updated since then

What do you suggest as a rust preventive oil? Are you storing them oiled
@timothymclaughlin45954 жыл бұрын
I use a light coat of 3-in-one oil. However any oil will do the job, like gun oil, Mink Oil, even kitchen food oils like vegetable oils works.

Sir which wheicle leaf spring best for making big knife
@timothymclaughlin45954 жыл бұрын
Many of the Kami select the Leaf spring from Mercedes, BMW or Land-rovers, but most Truck or Jeep leaf springs should provide a high quality 5160 Carbon steel.

You said your hand is small. Will you tell me in what size do you order your Khurkri?
@Foxrock3212 ай бұрын
Is it KaiLASh,? Or KalaDESH ? You’re not saying it the way it’s spelled.
@billgreene74564 жыл бұрын
Why is it pronounced Kal-A-Desh instead of K-Lash?
@timothymclaughlin45954 жыл бұрын
Old bad habits are hard to break. Your pronunciation is more correct. Thank you
