Simple Life in Rural China | Home Cooking & Preparing for Typhoon

During our holiday in China we have enjoyed simple life in rural China, including home cooking and preparing for typhoon. Ep 56⬇See more below⬇
It's so relaxing to return to Anbi's hometown in Zhejiang, China. My Chinese family-in-law in the Chinese countryside is always so welcoming and heartwarming. My sister-in-law treats us delicious Chinese home cooked meals, she really masters home cooking Chinese dishes!
Simple life in China sometime means also some scary things, like typhoons. The second day in this China vlog is about preparing for typhoon. This typhoon was called Hagupit. It was not that severe in the mountains, where we were staying, but in the Taizhou city of Zhejiang province it hit hard.
I have enjoyed this simple living in rural China so much. After the hectic life in Beijing, it's always a good idea to escape to the Chinese countryside for holiday and live simple rural Chinese life. I hope you like this video about life in rural China and stay tuned for the upcoming videos! :)

Anbi was right about the food quality when you can grow your own in your garden, you know exactly what you put in it; simpler and yet healthier. Does his family also raise small animals like chickens? I noticed there were two dogs walking around. Do they belong to anyone? If not, how do they survive? Glad to see both of you enjoying the rural life with Anbi's family. I'm sure this journey must have created beautiful memories in you.

Anbi’s family have chickens and bees 😊 the dogs I believe belong to neighbors, but they let them run freely in the village. People will put their leftover food on the streets and the dogs will eat them. You can see from the dogs’ behavior that they are not very well kept since they are afraid of people. I guess they have been hit by their owners or by other people in the village 😔 Otherwise it has been lovey to stay in the countryside 😊

So envious of your lifestyle. I wish I could do this. I have a jo-oak (ancestrial home in southern china) that I have visited couple of times over the last 4 decades. I wish I can spend more time there. Fully serviced septic tank, electricity, and YES, 5G. The bamboo and orange groves in the back of the house would be so pretty by now. Thanks for the inspiration.

This truly looks like a quiet countryside life. Not many people can adapt to the quiet, slow-paced life out there,, though. But it is beautiful. So much greenery out there! And everything looks so fresh. Glad that you seem to fit in hahaha. I think one reason is that you have this facility with Mandarin that you speak with ease. Your father-in-law seems such a nice man, he obviously cares a lot for his son and you. But may I ask where is your mother-in-law? I like that your hubby and niece are great buddies too, playing Chinese chess and Go like they are serious about the games hehehe; your is-in-law is a good cook from the looks of it. So, how was your first experience with typhoon?

Thank you! It’s always nice to visit the countryside and my family in law. My mother-in-law has passed away before I met with my husband, so I never had a chance to get to know her. I am lucky to be taken care of by my father-in-law and sister-in-law, they are really lovely people. 💗 Typhoon was pretty scary in the night, but since everybody seemed so chill about it, I also felt safe 😅

Love all of your vlogs, esp the ones from China. Seriously hanging out for your next video and the exciting news you have in store for us! Just a few observations from your China videos.... while I'm not a Mandarin speaker, it is very noticeable that you are sounding very much like a local speaker and you seem to have adopted/adapted to the local ism. I'm fascinated by the quite contrasting personality between you and your hubby...he is quite laid back to the extent of being nonchalant, not a talker. You are more outgoing, easygoing and chatty. Notwithstanding that, you come across as a wonderful happy couple! You appear to walk everywhere! Walking is good for health, keep that up. You haven't posted any videos for some time, I trust you are keeping well. Of course, it is the start of winter in China... a time for hibernation and doing as little as possible! Thanks George! 💕 In Taizhou city there was some pretty bad damage to buildings. I saw in the news pictures of flats in tall apartment buildings without their walls. I hope the families were not inside when the typhoon blew off the walls 😬 In Anbi’s hometown in the mountains we were safe, nothing major happened. Just some trees fell down.

A good thing about Chinese culture is there is always plenty of delicious food to eat no matter if living in a poor rural town no one is never Hungary food is plentiful and very healthy. The Chinese women are awesome cookers and are one of the best in raising children. This is one good thing that sets Chinese values above European or western ways of living. Generally speaking most Europeans tend to not cook either because they don't know how to cook or they are too lazy so they end up eating bad food on a daily basis.
