@Kiyan completely agree with the second part. They just stick to the names they already know (Lataji, Arijit, Shreya, Kaushiki ji, etc) and completely ignore people they’ve listened to a dozen times (Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sunidhi) They’re annoying at this point. Waleska Herrera are much better when it comes to music stuff

She is carrying lata Mangeshkar's legacy ahead very skillfully but sadly there's nothing new or revolutionary about her singing....but Sunidhi Chauhanncarved a whole new space in the industry with her style of singing......shreya Ghoshal has become popular only after sanjay leela Bhansali's songs before which she was just another good singer. Sunidhi on the other hand recieved comparatively lesser big banner songs and thats why her name isn't popping out much but that doesn't take away from the fact that although Shreya's songs are sugar to the ears ....those are surely not the ones you want to hear in a live concert . Sunidhi Chauhan is tbe ultimate queen when it comes to live concerts . She has the perfect combination of songs to her name! Does she require the white attention people are crazy for on KZbin? No i dont think so. We ....who have known Sunidhi's calibre , continue to follow her to this day (without belittling shreya) .... thats all that matters

But for someone, who claim to love music, they should atleast talk about her singing skills or give her credit. She is the voice of the song and not even credited in the title. actually, Calcutta was a melting pot. Jazz was played mainly by Anglo Indians for the British and after independence the city's elites patronized it, not just the Bengalis.

You should see Rekha’s dance number in the film “Jaal”. Interestingly, sometimes there’s something in Indrani that reminds me of Rekha 😊.. not sure if people have already told Indrani that 😊. Of course Rekha’s Umrao Jaan. Khubsoorat and Ghar are films worth watching. Ghar had beautiful numbers penned in by Gulzar to R.D. Burman’s probably really beautiful original melodies.. their Combination in Ghar provided a long lasting list of beautiful lyrics combined with Beautifully composed Music.

I know I’m VERY late to this video but a bit of context: Cabaret culture was huge in the state of West Bengal towards the last leg of the British colonial rule in India. The capital city of the state- Kolkata- was the original capital of the Empire in the country so they tried to model the city per their European tastes. In fact, one of the oldest clubs in the city happens to be named Moulin Rouge and it’s one of the few that survived rebranding. It was also one of the last places in the country where cabaret dances used to be regular before it was outlawed.

Jazz always been an integral part of kolkata's clubs and pubs from british age till now. The song is copied/ inspired from 'kiss to build a dream on' by Loius Armstrong. The movie is film adaptation of Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay's classic bengali novel by same name, who wrote devdas also. This song also feature Raima Sen who is grand daughter of legendary Suchitra Sen. I hope you will react to some clips from bengali film's legendary screen-pair Uttam Kumar - Suchitra sen.
