I'm definitely an older lady, and only recently learned two great tips: 1) organize your closet by color (looks great and easier to find things), and 2) don't buy anything unless it goes with THREE other pieces (that's a tough one, true). But it helps reduce all those crazy colors and pieces that don't go with anything.

My personal "pro tip" is all my bottoms are neutrals. That way even if I decide to get a top that isn't in my color palette I can still wear it with all my pants. I am a lover of color so most of my dresses & tops are colorful, but my bottoms & half my "outerwear" is neutral which makes mixing and matching a breeze. I do the same with shoes: get my neutrals first, then expand our into fun designs & colors. I love every piece in my closet & it makes shopping for new items simple (especially when mom tried to convince me to get something that I would never wear lol)

Yes, it's really nice that she does what literally every other normal person does : wash their clothes and re-use them. It's the simplest thing to do, which might be why influencers shy away from it. They are scared they will look "normal", "boring", "uncreative". It's a war out there and peeps want to stand out. It's just unfortunate that the price of standing out in this field is just normalizing huge hauls of clothes and massive wardrobes. @@johnnyjohnnyhottiethottie8345 My tip: Wear your most versatile clothes when you go thrifting. your favourite pants that go with anything, a neutral top, some vest/jacket/blouse/shirt on top if you do layers, and a belt. This will help you to style the things you want to buy in quick, different ways without having to wait until you get home. Then go to the changing room, try them, take pics, and then roam a bit more around the place. Give yourself time to think about it. Is not the same as giving it a month and you may still buy some things that later will feel a bit "meh" but it will help to considerably reduce those "omg this is terrible why I wasted money on this" cases.

Almost all my clothes are black. But let me tell you how many shades of black there are oh my some things don't match everything. (Mainly a texture thing) but now I do shop full outfits keeping my current inventory in mind, it helps a lot. I also made little print outs of all my pieces so I can mix match them "on paper" and see how they work. My closet looks like a mood board and it makes me happy. But closet organizing clothes of all one color can be hard

😅 Okay I'm three weeks late but hopefully you see this still: there are digital closet apps you can use so you can plan out "on paper" and have it easily accessible. like Whering (the app I use) also has a dress me feature that randomises outfits for you. It's really helped me realise that I have sooo many outfits available and have made me really enjoy wearing items again and again (it's also saved me so much time getting ready cause I no longer spend ages mixing and matching right before I head out).

Like Cher from Clueless with her Polaroids of outfits? It's a good idea and so is the app. I'm definitely going to look at that.

I feel like sticking to a category of colors is more helpful then just picking certain colors. Like warm or cool toned and natural vs. artificial looking colors. I started sticking to warm toned earthy/natural colors and it really helped me :)

Online shopping- I sit on items for months before buying. I usually let it be until I keep thinking about it and then I buy. If I'm not excited to go home and try on outfits with an article of clothing then it probably isn't worth it. Or already have outfit ideas in my head. I have this one oversized cardigan that I wear everywhere. I can use it all year but winter, pairs with sweaters, button ups, blouses, t-shirts, ect. I can dress it up or down. Just a nice baggy beige chunky knit cardigan. That one cardigan bought on a whim started a whole spiral into my interest with sweaters and fashion in general. Also good to note what color brings out your eye color! I get so many compliments on my eyes when I wear warm tones, mainly pink or red since it contrasts with my hazel-green eyes.

You are so right about the color scheme. A few years ago I switched my buying habits to all skirts / pants being neutral colors and all tops being either green, blue or purple and now no matter how tired I am, I can grab whatever from the closet and it auto matches. Plus it looks great hanging there!

Thank you so much for this video!!! I know you posted this a while back, but FOR REAL- I have been on the struggle bus all my life trying to find clothing and colors that make me feel gorgeous. I am a tall girl with a curvy body, but the trend of my state/town has always been crop tops, shortest shorts, and oversized zipped jackets... I've never felt comfortable or flattered in any of these, as my stomach is not naturally flat or small (same with my hips, butt, and thighs). It has always been so hard to find clothing that makes me feel beautiful/confident (and even fits to my body type) in my town... BUT THIS VIDEO has been a saving grace. I've found my couple colors that I've been complimented on the most or that make me feel the most fierce, and I genuinely feel SO much better/less anxious about shopping. Thank you for your guidance and work you've put into this video. You have gained a new subscriber. :)

I’m redoing my whole wardrobe in 4 months, mainly to save up, but this video is literally so perfect. My style is mainly street fashion but softer and not sports based. So lighter muted colors, no dunks, jordans or jerseys. But very loose and flowy. I use to think I only liked myself in very fitted clothing, and I do still like that look but I’ve realized i haven’t been wearing 80% of my current wardrobe. So excited to actually wear everything in my closet

Great video! My mom taught me to think about how a piece would fit with my existing closet before buying, and its helped me save so much, that mindset has prevented me from buying impulsively. Also, if you dont feel 100% comfortable with a piece the moment you wear, DONT BUY IT!!! dont think about "maybe when I lose weight I will wear this" you have to feel comfortable at the moment.

how to narrow down a colour scheme? i like wearing a variety of colours (depending on the shade (has to be quite muted) but they don’t really go together (blue, red, yellow, brown, green). normally i just pair these colours with white or a neutral. any advice would be helpful!!

I like to dress to my match my undertone (cool tones) and to accent my hair and eye color. I also look at my shoes and decide based on what would match them, since I love my shoes more than I love my clothes and they would be harder to replace.

I just look at my absolute favorite things I couldn't live without and realized they were all deep jewel tones so that's my color scheme I guess
@gentlymade3 жыл бұрын
Nowadays in fashion, every color matches as long as you can "carry the look". You can wear clashing colors if you like them, but it's totally out of people's comfortable zone, but can be fun! Red, blue and yellow are primaries and tend to harmonize together, secondaries and so on. You can pick an image that you think colors look good and try to use those combinations on clothes!
@BooksMusicMe173 жыл бұрын
There are more neutrals than people realise. Not just black, white, cream, beige, grey but also navy, olive, rose pink can all act as neutrals and go with almost everything (at least in my wardrobe). And dark wash jeans are basically navy which is why they go with most things, so that could be a good anchor point if you're in a temperate climate. I also think blue is one of the BEST colours to pair with yellow, which can otherwise be hard to match, so that sounds like a nice combo (depending on the shade and amounts of each colour so you don't look like IKEA branding). You can use Paint or Excel or something to make mock up palettes and then group colours that match.
