So lucky to see Rainbows in their natural habitats & catch some wild. We had to decommission our 4ft tank due to increase in UK electric prices & bought a smaller one to put some dwarf rainbows in for the first time & fell in love with them, so inquisitive fishes. Good to see people care about our nature & wildlife on this amazing planet & their needs. We are part of nature & nature is part of us. The older I get I wish I'd been more interested in this hobby sooner, my parents had a 6ft tank when I was young I never had the space for one. A fish shop would be a great business in the right area.

1:50 Another fun fact about the death adder is that it has one of the fastest strikes of any snake. They will strike and withdraw faster than you can blink, so you may not even see them bite you, and because they camouflage, you may not know they are still within striking distance.

While watching I thought about Four Mile Creek, specifically the part that runs from Gympie Road at Strathpine, near the high school, down to the bottom end of Strathpine, past the primary school and down towards the sports grounds at the end of Bells Pocket Road. Prior to the development of the Lawnton light industrial area, the creek held a plethora of native fish, turtles and other wildlife. It became polluted in the 80s but I went for a wander there about 7 years ago and it seems to have recovered. It may be worth looking at. Also, North Pine River downstream from Young's Crossing might be worth looking at. Even right on the downstream side of the Young's Crossing causeway is usually full of aquarium-sized fish.

5:40 Once upon a time (I don't think you can still get them) there was a big trade in bottles of 'Coloured sand' from Rainbow Beach. People would collect the sand of different colours and then put them in layers in small bottles and sell them to the tourists (Yeah, I'm old I guess). I remember mum and dad having a bottle for years. It was an oyster bottle. I'm pretty sure the Govt's Nat. parks arm banned the collection many years ago.

Found your channel a few weeks ago. I’m in West Virginia, USA. I really like seeing all the scenery when you go looking for fish. It is so beautiful. Back in 1970 I was in the Navy and got to take a weeks R&R in Singapore. There were several Australian Ships there and I had a wonderful time running around with several of them. They talked about how beautiful Australia was. I always wanted to visit after that but never had the chance. Now with your video’s, I get to see some of that beauty. I enjoyed the scenery and the fish. I spent a week at Rainbow Beach campsite about 40 years ago. I can remember being somewhere like the sandblow and a windsurfer launching from it except he didn't take off and landed in a heap on the beach but he was OK

I used to get Empire Gudgeons just at the back of my place but have moved from there but I am still within driving distance to get some, I will need to check if I can actually catch them nowadays, the regulations have changed a lot since I chased them.

6:25 (Sorry, I comment as I watch) I feel it would be a good thing if certain aquarists (fish people) could be permitted to collect and then breed endangered native fish for the specific purpose of releasing back into the wild from where the parent fish were caught, or into areas where the species has disappeared. I'm not sure how this would work in the real world, but hey, it works for game fish like Barramundi and Cod, so why not with smaller fish?

This is why I love Australia and being Australian. Forget all about the flag flying patriotic bullshit. This is what gives me pride for my country. The diversity and beauty of fauna and flora in this country still makes me speechless. The countryside leaves me breathless. Please respect it as we only have one country and its up to us to ensure our Grandchildren get to experience what we have now. Think before releasing any fish into water ways. From cichlids like Tilapia to smaller invasives like the now too common Gambusia. They are creating havoc to our water ways. Also water plants should be disposed of carefully.
