This recipe is another great healthy and vegan option to add into your weekly meal rotation. These black chickpeas are high in fiber and have a lower glycemic index, which makes them a great alternative to meat. There is no need to soak the chickpeas overnight thanks to the Instant Pot. This recipe can be served as a soup or as part of a complete meal. Besides being healthy, the flavors in this dish will keep you coming back for seconds or even more!

Thanks love it! I’ve done it before but I wasn’t sure how long to keep the dry chana in so that helps! I kept taking it out and checking every 15 mins. Next time I’ll try 45 mins.

I needed a recipe for Khala Channa without overnight soaking. Glad I found this video ..Dump and go - That is what I like to do and was surprised to see someone say the same

Well, my kala Chana are soaking now, and they’ll soak about six hours. So how long do I cook it for in that case?

I just found an amazing Indian store in my area. I bought my first bottle of asafoetida...and I'm terrified to use it. I put the unopened bottle in a plastic bag, but every time I open my spice cabinet, that's all I smell.

How do prevent froth blocking the vent ?

That's why it's better to soak for a few hours or even better overnight, then rinse with cold water, then add fresh water for cooking. Also people with sensitive digestsion might complain about gas from unsoaked chana.
