Competitive Pokemon Singles has now peaked with the beginning of Jimvitational. An incredible invite-only Gen 3 OU tournament featuring the best of the best.
Who is the best in ADV OU? Who will utilize Skarmory, Tyranitar or even Camerupt? Some will never figure all that out.

It might be easy to say Kalaveet got lucky with the Blissey crit onto Celebi to nearly guarantee the end game. Let's not forget however that his Forretress got gruesomely sniped by a crit in what was almost assuredly a turn it would have otherwise been able to create a permanent spike, which would have greatly helped his Blissey in the end game vs Celebi and Swampert. The crits giveth and the crits taketh folks. Really awesome games, excited for more of this tournament content!

Lemme give my thoughts on my tourney sets. I really liked when Jg2 did that for CI5 (or was it 6?), so excpect a novel here. My first opponent is my friend Tyros, who I've played in friendlies and who has also crushed me 0-2 in Mushi League before. Time for me to run it back. Tyros loves special offense, especially with water leads and has low Claydol/Flygon usage, so I decided Jolteon could be a good call. If I had had Baton Pass on it, it probably would have been, but I failed to take Tyros's meticulously crafted Dug EVs into account. G1: I get the type of lead I wanted but my Jolteon thuds into Celebi. Tyros makes a very aggressive double and hard dugs into my Tar, catching Jolteon. My Lifeline is suddenly gone and Tyros pushes the advantage further by trapping my Tyranitar as well. He gets the range on Tar, it was in his favor, so I couldn't get my Salac proc to get back into the game. From there on, my Moltres isn't fast enough to beat the Superrachi and the game is over unless Gengar gets freezes. The main thing I got from this game is that Tyros wanted to play with his bread and butter special offenses and super aggressively into me, which I would abuse later in g2 and g3. G2: My match-up fish in g1 did not work out but I was confident now that Tyros would continue to run special offense. I decide on a traditionally Zap Dug-weak team, V5, but with a Resttalk Zapdos that can clutch up vs Zapdug. That is the exact match-up I get but my Zapdos eats a pretty hefty high roll para full para turn 2 and can't roar out the Zap. My odds are still fine to Sleep Talk a Roar or to dodge crits so I go for that. A lucky Leech Seed miss puts things back in my favor because my Zapdos has the better odds vs his outside of sand. I had a feeling that Tyros would try to prevent my Spikes/Milo with the double back into Zap but at this point I felt comfy enough to allow that risk. Our two Zapdos trade health into each other, which means my Claydol can threaten the opposing Zapdos from here on because it can't sub anymore and my Milo can also live and kill. The Leech CM Celebi makes big progress vs my team because it ends up being the perfect breaker vs my Skarmory and Blissey so I have to sac Dug to deescalate. Blissey gets trapped and perhaps I needed to CM here to prevent that from happening. It's all down to Zap and Milo but I've set up a beautiful lategame for the two. Milo enters a very unique scenario against Dug. I can outstall the Dug but I shouldn't because it can be put into Spikes range and serve as an aggressive sacrifice so I just accept the loss of Milo's health. My Claydol has to blow up to prevent Zap sub now and I catch the Ludi. Going Milo after this might have been a throw but once again my Zapdos clutches up with perfect Sleep Talk rolls (ban this move, it is broken). The lategame is in my favor because all Milo needs to do is break one Kingdra sub, then I can go Zapdos and I'm in good shape. Unfortunately, Milo gets frozen before breaking the first sub, making the stall pretty scary but the odds end up falling in my favor and we go to g3. G3: With my back against the wall, I decided to bring my favorite TSS. It's another team that isn't amazing against Zap Dug on paper but my Forre gets easy Spikes and I have huge outplay potential with my special trap card in the back. Against Zap Dug, it is vital to never give them your Blissey t1, always attack with Tar! I maneuver Forre in and I'm not even that scared of Zapdos substitute because I have a bulky Roar Tar that can live Dugtrio, so I can get the Spikes chip I need on it for Blissey later. My Forre gets high roll crit and suddenly this g3 is looking over from the very start. I decided to take a step back, take a breath and go for a really risky gameplan that involves my trap card in the back. I need to bait Tyros into getting his Dug chipped. My Milo gets slept and at this point I am so far behind that nothing but all out risks can win me this game. Mence feints HP Grass and I catch the Gengar. I also force the issue on Suicune with another huge risk. My Blissey gets chipped by Swampert and the stage has been perfectly set for my trap because Dugtrio can soon come in for free. I double Tar in on it and get the necessary damage and reveal my trap, Wish Mence, to get my Blissey back up. Now it can beat Dug! My Milo wakes up too, we are so Barrack! My Blissey still has to beat the Leech CM Celebi tho and I get some luck to balance out the horrible Forre crit. The late game comes down to a prediction on the turn where Zapdos can sub and I can go Milo. I get to +6 +6 to pretend to not see the Milo switch and I pull it off. GGs and wp to Tyros

As the person who originally built the team (and a Tyros fan), I must say that was a masterpiece in g3 on how to handle zapdug with no spike. Getting all the necessary doubles and plays to keep Blissey safe, was really epic to watch. Good stuff, Kalaveet! Good luck in the remaining sets

When I lead CBMeta I always click Mash. TTar, Glalie, Suicune, Zapdos, Vaporeon. Unless it's a ghost type, then I click boom for the mix-up.

Spoilers! According to my math, after Celebi died there were 15 thunderbolts on Blissey, each with a 10% para chance and a 4.17% chance to crit. These odds rolled 15 times suggest that 79.5% of the time at least 1 para should have happened and 47.2% of the time at least one crit should have happened. So I'm not surprised at lack of crit, but the lack of para is considerably unlikely.

Ludicolo can run a lot of different moves: Leech Seed, Giga Drain, HP Grass, Ice Beam, Sub... Even a defensive Rain Staller is possible. You can definitly build it to beat Water types

The invites have already been sent out, usually invitationals are reserved for top players and it remains the case here however not all the slots were filled in the main jimvitational tournament and there were plenty players that would deserve an invite (mainly people who did well in ADV Revival 1) and those are the ones currently competing for the final slots of the main invitational tournament i believe this is how it goes at the very least
