I'm from Ma. Back in the 80's I took a couple of months of modern arnis,leaned a few things ,but didn't get on well with the teacher. A decade or so later I briefly met the founder of the art,the Professor, can't remember his name, he was sick at thetime ,but filming tech with one of his students. Sadly not long after that he died. While practising other arts Ive tried to keep my filipino arts useful. As I've said before ,like what you 're doing and I "drop in" to practice with you now and again. Spent last summer working on my fifth son staff form. Plan to add some of your tech to it this yr. So long. r.p.m.

Always enjoy your lessons. I think this was the first time I have seen you display a lesson from the camera view from behind you. I would like to see that view on included on all of your teaching. It shows for the viewer to relate more quickly to body/movement positioning! Ray from New Hampshire. Thank you and be well!

Living in Oregon these days. I've always had a fascination with and deep respect for martial arts, especially ones with intriguing histories. Unfortunately, classes aren't an expense I can really afford. So I humbly thank you for doing this, I'll definitely be doing quite a lot of training. Be well.

Thanx dude I've been down in my knees since I ripped my ACL and my leg buckled on me 14 years ago. So this is awesome work out and my Father always fought with this Technique (but only if he had no other choice) but never tought it to me bc he said that it could be deadly. He learn from my grandfather who was in the Philippines in WW2. I was never aware that the work out behind Kali is awesome and I feeling better health wise and in mind. Love to and will be learning more. keep them videos coming! Thank

I promise to do good with my skills, cuz if I don’t, someone is going to get hurt. When I was a child I played with sticks and now I’m gonna learn how to really “play” with those “switches” as we called them, ummm, switch as in on an off button?....thank you 🙏 From the communist state of California

Is the number 1 umbrella a strike or a block or both? If it was being done on a tyre / bag would it be drilled with a strike or just as a block in the air? Thanks!

Sir where is the part 2 ?
@nikolab.40654 жыл бұрын
Footwork huh? I'm really interested in how many strikes you should put into a step, with the either single or double sticks, or both if possible.
@HungryScribbler4 жыл бұрын
Do all per step then 1 per step when you get it down!
@nikolab.40654 жыл бұрын
@@HungryScribbler Do my entire combo on 1 step, and then do 1 strike per step?
@HungryScribbler4 жыл бұрын
@@nikolab.4065 Yes, for coordination and speed on stick/knife combos with footwork I like to do the whole combo with a step. So if you step to the right, do the combo. Step back, do the combo. Step left, do the combo. Nice, smooth, and accurate. As you speed up, step right, and do a couple strikes, step back, couple strikes, etc. In this combo do the first six with first step, and last 3 on next step. When you get the technique then: step right, throw a strike, step back, throw strike 2, step left, throw strike 3, step, stab, step strike, step stab, etc.
@nikolab.40654 жыл бұрын
@@HungryScribbler Thank you. While this is very helpful, I'll admit it's also weird because I can do 1 strike per step without much difficulty, and can't do the whole combos very well while stepping. So regressing to 1 strike per step after getting good on combos is weird for me. There may be hidden logic behind this that I'm not seeing so I'll try it out.
@HungryScribbler4 жыл бұрын
@@nikolab.4065 That's great! 1 strike per step should mimic a 1-2-punch - so it's not step... strike... step... strike... it's step/strike in a bang-bang-bang tempo.
