@@TipsKalimba Thanks for your vids! Can you make a tutorial or two about a 13 tine kalimba/sanza? That would be great. I just got one, made by a local manufacturer. Sounds very nice. But, so different from the 17 tine ones. The middle tine is A, then to the right the next one is C, to the left from A is B, and so on. I would much appreciate some indications on how to play this type kalimba. And how to memorize the tines!! So difficult. Also, can you make a tutorial with a 21 key kalimba? Thanks. @Ali hi bro , I'm 16 rn . Imo the 1st 1 or 2 months will be the hardest , just pull through them somehow while also not compromising correct technique . You must focus on good technique from the start . After that you'll get motivation yourself since you'll be able to play basic strumming songs . Talking about mastering, it all depends on your goals but I would say in general I had pretty become a intermediate at 1 years 7 months , I can play pretty hard songs now, and it's so much fun. All worth it in the end . So I encourage you to start this journey too

Can you help me please? I couldn't understand you very well on the video so I would really appreciate your help! Thank you!
@TipsKalimba4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nadine! Thank you for letting me know all these. Hmmm. In that case i would recommend a kalimba with an electric pic up on it. That way you can also plug it to an amplifier. May i know what continent you are from so that i can attach links to good kalimbas for you? :)
@Nadzimina4 жыл бұрын
@@TipsKalimba Thank you so much. I'm from Malta but I usually buy from Aliexpress or from Amazon UK
@TipsKalimba4 жыл бұрын
@Nadine Grech if you're budget is not an issue I'd suggest the Dual D1 of april yang, because you can use earphones on it. If you notice there are two options here, so you can get one with speakers included( i think that's cool ) or one that just includes the kalimba. ( Do keep in mind that without the earphones or speaker, this kalimba is quiet. Not sure how the battery life of this kalimba is though) Now if you want something more budget friendly you can try her kalimba that has an Eq where in you can plug it to an amplifier. (Though do have in mind that this is quiet if you are not going to use an amplifier. ) Now, you also can check out this beauty, moozica. If you will notice it has a hole in the middle. So among all these, this is the loudest. Plus it has an Eq too which means you can plug it to amplify the sound. Do keep in mind that kalimbas with a hollow body like this may have a tendecy to have crispier end tines (the highest key or tine on each side of the kalimba) So basically, you want a kalimba that has an Eq built in to it some keywords you can use if you want to try and search more is "electric kalimba" "Kalimba EQ" "Kalimba pickup" I have just read stuff about these kalimbas so do feel free to read reviews about them too. I hope this helps 😊
@Nadzimina4 жыл бұрын
@@TipsKalimbaThank you so much! I have bought Moozica Kalimba thanks to you! The reason is because you told me it will be the loudest thanks to its hole and I'd like to be able to bring it with me outside to play if I don't have an amplifier with me. Also, the Kalimba from the two Aliexpress links you've shared with me costs $20 to $30 to ship, ouch! That means since China is not in Europe, I will have to pay a lot of custom duty! Do you think the Moozica Kalimba will still have enough soft sound and sweet tone to play Kiss The Rain and River Flows In You even though it has a hole please? I'm so, so excited to receive my Kalimba! I found out about it after watching a video on Facebook, it was someone playing a Kalimba with his golden retriever dog, I couldn't believe that there was such a small instrument out there that sounds so much like a piano! Thank you for helping me search the right Kalimba for me, I appreciate it a lot!

I bought a 17 key hollow one. I'm teaching myself to play and I've been going to jazz clubs and playing with a band. Now I tend to lay it down flat and play with my fingertips vs thumb nails. It produces a softer and more mellow tone, and playing with 8 vs 2 fingers lets me do more complex chords and faster melodies.

@@TipsKalimba and I've heard that "mbira style" is straight notes from the left (C) going higher notes to the right *I mean basta parang piano sya na pataas lang notes mula kaliwa pakanan* Unlike Kalimba with alternate tines. But there are Kalimba that has "mbira style" for those who are used to playing the piano

Mmmm to be on the safe side, you can get ung flatboard. Mas sure kasi na may sounds lahat keys. Kasi may chance if ung hollow type eh matigas ung highest keys. Or sometimes wala pa siyang sound. Mmmm irrecomend ko ung white, kaso iba na kasi ung quality nung kalimba ng seller ko dito. :( Pero ayun si white is at 500+ hehehe) pero if nakikita mo na you will be playing the kalimba even after a year, quality wise, you can check out si gecko17cap( ranges from 1.1k- 2k got mine at 1.2k). Kung baga siya ung middle pagdating sa volume ni hollow and ni flat. Sa lahat ng nag ask about ung gecko, wala pang nag reregret on getting it. :)

Hi, I just discovered the Kalimba. I really love the way it sounds. I am a beginner and I am looking for one in which I can play pop songs, but I can also play some classical music. I liked the sweet, soft, clear sounds and I have pretty thick fingers. I also liked the 17 keys ones. Could you help me find the right fit? I don’t want to buy one and waste my money. Thanks 😊
