About to order a few of their shirts and test them out. I would say the New York line caters towards not just western, but taller guys. There sleeve sizes start at 35 inches which is 1.5 - 2.0 inches larger than my normal shirts. For reference I am 5’ 10 178 lbs. Going with the Vintage Line and some nice button downs in there causal section, and the spread collar Tokyo Casual fit dress shirt. Looking forward to it! Thanks for the review!

I hope you like them :) I actually ordered a few more later on and 2 more MTM shirts. Especially the Vintage Line and Kamakura Classics feel very well made.

I’m a larger frame guy and they fitted me with a Tokyo Slim Fit. I think proportions (wider shoulders than waist) made the Tokyo a better fit. My collar is 18” and sleeves are 36. I forgot my shirt waist measurements, but it’s stored in my profile. Great company.
@Lukas_Schanderl3 ай бұрын
That's awesome :) Did it fit right off the rack or did you have to get it altered? I think my issue is that I have a smaller neck size and long arms, which can be a bit tricky with their shirts.
@agordon3333 ай бұрын
@@Lukas_Schanderl It was made to measure. They came to D.C. for a week and I booked an appointment. Now my measurements are saved in my profile.

@@agordon333 That's perfect. Do you keep reordering from them? I recently went to one of their trunk shows, too, and finally the sleeves fit :)

@@Lukas_Schanderl Did you buy it on the spot, or have it shipped to you? As long as I don't gain weight (hopefully lose a few pounds), I can reorder. I chose the Pinpoint Oxford for my first two shirts because it was the least expensive fabric. The pinpoint Oxford cost $110 on the website, and I paid $160 for MTM. I bought two shirts from Boggi Milano and had the sleeves altered for $50 each. It's not cheap, but getting a quality fabric, quality construction, and a good fit for $160 is worth it.

@@TheDrew718 They shipped it 2 months later. Very happy with the result. Have you tried Proper Cloth? I agree, $160 for an excellent shirt that was made in Japan is a fair price. Great shirt choices, btw.

Thanks for being honest with your review Lukas, my shirt arrived few days ago and I must say their shirts are as good as Charles Tyrwhitt. I love the Tokyo fit white shirts though, they give this cool asian look.

Thank you, Seyi. Glad you like the shirt :) I wish I could fit into the Tokyo fit line. The denim shirts are fantastic.

I know online it says expect about a 2% shrinkage, would you say that has been true? or did your shirt still fit you perfectly after washing (assuming cold wash/hang dry!)
@Lukas_SchanderlАй бұрын
I personally didn't notice much shrinkage after washing, but unfortunately, only the denim shirt fits me properly, anway. The sleeves are a bit too short for me.

Hi. On the topic of shirts, it would be nice if you can do a review of Emanuel Berg and Stenstroms. Also, what do you think about shirts (not polos) made of jersey or piquet fabric? 🍻
@Lukas_Schanderl Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip, Vasil. I'll put it on my video list. Hm I've never tried them, to be honest. I ordered a long-sleeved polo from Natalino that's very similar to a shirt, but it hasn't arrived yet.

Hi Lukas - thank you for the helpful review. I am interested in purchasing several Vintage Ivy shirts (Oxford & Chambray). When you suggest "one size larger than you normally would" since I am a 15.5" in US shirts, would you recommend a 16" in Kamakura or going up to 16.5"? I have an average build, 5' 10", 165-170 lbs. I have read some reviews on the Kamakura website where people commented that they purchased a size 15.5' and it was short with less buttons than larger sizes. Just want to get this right rather than have to deal with returning the shirts to Japan.

Thank you. I agree, it's a bit tricky to get the fit right with their shirts. I would suggest comparing all your measurements with the ones on their website, because their sizes can be a bit "strange". For me, I have to go up 1 size, so my chest fits, but then the neck is too large, unfortunately. For me, only the Vintage ivy line fits pretty well.
@MichaelMallon-n1i7 ай бұрын
@@Lukas_Schanderl Thanks - I did just that, comparing measurements from two of my favorite shirts and ordered a Vintage Ivy in size 16". Kamakura currently are offering free shipping too.
