In this video I show an entire traditional Kambo ceremony which took place in the Amazon Jungle in Peru, as part of my 2021 ayahuasca retreat at Arkana Spiritual Center.
Kambo is a very potent substance which causes intense feelings of nausea, projectile vomiting, and a pounding feeling in your temples that makes it seem like your head is about to explode - so why do it?
Hopefully this video will answer those questions!

I just completed my first ceremony yesterday. Sapo stayed in my head area and then helped me to cleanse my gastrointestinal tract into the next day. I came away with intense gratitude, energy, and an uplifted spirit. My intentions were to rid myself of nasty compulsions. So far so good, but I have a lot more work to go.

Thank you for sharing. I have chronic Lyme disease and my doctor who I fully trust and respect recommended that I do kambo treatment with a fellow Lyme patient and practitioner. I'm trying it for the first time later today. I have to admit that I'm nervous, but also very hopeful that I will get some relief from my symptoms, especially chronic pain.

I've only done Kambo once and never again. Had to consume vast amounts of water prior to receiving it, which I see was the same for you, which was extremely hard to begin with. I was sat on a loo at the time and remember the swirling hot feeling going to my head then fainted, totally unconscious and puked all over myself. I have seen many people do it, go into a very hot sweat but say they got much from it, and can also see the value for people who are very defended as it really helps in breaking them down. Not sure for everyone though, but worthwhile for many conditions like Rob mentioned.

The drinking of the water was perhaps my least favourite part, and then just when I thought I had got to the end of it they bring out this huge bowl of starchy bitter soup....uuuurgh. Like a lot of these traditional medicines the mileage people get from them varies massively. For me the break from my chronic pain makes it completely worth it, but I appreciate that its pretty "out there" in terms of weirdness. I hope nothing too serious happened when you fell off the loo!

@@AdeptusPsychonautica Yes I agree it was the drinking of so much water that's a bitch, and I am only small. I somehow didn't fall off the loo, the facilitator was holding me up, thankfully. Glad you got so much benefit from it, I can certainly see the utility of it for many.

@@MunecaA87 I think in this context drinking water will not put anyone's life at risk as it's for quite a short period of time and everyone who takes Kambo will puke it out.

This is how I throw up on the come down of psilocybin, regardless of dose. Over an hour of gut wrenching purging every 30 seconds even when the stomach is empty it just continues and continues and doesn't cease. It happens every time once the trip is mostly over, dry heaving, heavy sweating, overheated, lightheaded, gosh this reminds me so much of my puking episodes on mushrooms. It's never on the come up, always after the 3rd or 4th peak and visuals have ended. I really wanna try kambo to rid myself of toxins I think may be contributing to the mushroom experience. I can't imagine the things stuck inside my body.

@@AdeptusPsychonautica Man I'm sorry to hear that. You're a warrior to get through it like you have though and no one would suspect the pain that you're outrunning from day to day. Interesting that you mention the head-pounding and buzzing sensations. I thought that kambo was kind of bullshit before but I live with basically permanent head-pounding and buzzing sensations as a result of my intense exercise habits and thinking as hard as I was exercising simultaneously - bad idea. I'm under the NHS for therapy but these symptoms have done my head in, so to speak, that I'm now looking to unconventional methods (e.g. psychs) for treatment. Any suggestions maybe for how to make these symptoms go away? Doing kambo might be an interesting way to see what interacts with my symptoms, just as vaping/consuming cannabis is (it makes the sensations notably stronger, but I'm not a regular cannabis user). Also includes twitching all over the face and body, which sucks. (Psychologically the problem is probably closer to depression than to anxiety, but not really enough of either to explain these continuous symptoms. Tripped some wires doing some heavy mind-body exercise out in the Peak District is all). Appreciate your input anyway. 🙏🏼

@@rumple269 I’m not comfortable advising others on what might work for them because I don’t want to claim expertise. What I will say is that in my case I had pretty much resigned myself to a life of chronic pain, and I thought I was just going to have to suffer through it. Both kambo and ayahuasca really helped both reduce the pain and reframe it into something I wasn’t living in fear of, and this helped give me a more positive outlook. So if you are feeling stuck with the treatments you are receiving then it might be worth exploring some of these weirder options 🙏

I would agree that there are some concerns around harvesting kambo, but as with any use of an animal there are ways it can be done ethically and ways which are cruel. Just compare it to milking a cow, you can do it in a nice field in a gentle way, or you can stuff them into a milking barn connect them to a machine and suck them dry along with bits of skin and blood. In this case I have known this shaman for over 5 years and have seen how much he loves and reveres the frogs, so I feel comfortable knowing that he is not abusing them. That said I will probably do a video in the future diving into the ethics of using animals for their medicines.
