No idea why they changed this, but Veldora originally doesn't show up for the "next volume." He summons himself because Rimiru pranked him, switching the cover of a manga's last volume to a totally different series. So, yeah, the Evil Dragon ran off from the city he was supposed to protect, against his BFF's wishes, because he couldn't wait for Rimiru'l to come back, and Veldora didn't bother looking for the volume he wanted. Slightly different than the anime, but I find it funnier and more ludicrous.

Claymen was useless vs Shion because of the skill she got after being brought back from the dead, not mentioned in the anime but in the LN, the skill she got preserves her memory and sense of self so even if her brain was to be destroyed and then healed it would still be the Shion everyone knows and loves, so Claymans mind control is useless vs her

YES. Now, wtf is that cut from the anime?!? It's important now, and it's important next season. I tell ya, some of the stuff they cut from the anime, and instead shoved in so many unneeded gags and such....sad face.

It's really a shame that they glossed over so many things from the manga/light novel during this meeting: for example a very important part of Walpurgis was at the beggining, more specifically how Raphael was able to quickly and intuitively identify the demon lords, their strenghts and weaknesses, while Rimuru was completely clueless about most things ( in this episode "she" was disappointed because Rimuru completely ignored "her" opinion and didn't even allow "her" to explain). Also, during the fight, Rapahel was legit carrying Rimuru so hard with thought acceleration and by predicting Milim's movement and counterattacks (otherwise he would have died on the first attack). At the end of the episode, you can see just how op Raphael is: "she" predicted Clayman's general power level and course of action (up to his late awakening), all because Rimuru wanted to free the souls of all the innocents that Clayman had captured. It's really a shame that all of this was completely cut from the anime, it would have been really interesting to see all of Raphael's thoughts about the different demon lords (it's not a matter of knowledge, but legit it's an extremely smart and intuitive power that can adapt almost instantly to anything).

Same thing with the Shion vs. Clayman match up. While Clayman did get man handled exactly like this in the manga/light novel, I think it was mentioned that if any of Rimuru's other subordinates had fought him they would have lost, specifically because she died and came back to life. If I remember right, after coming back to life it was explained that she became a being that thinks with her soul not her physical brain so she can't be mind controlled. Anyone else would have lost due to either being to weak or they would have gotten mind controlled.

I don't understand how it was "cut" but maybe you are talking about how it wasn't fully explained? Most of that is pretty easy to understand watching the entire Walpurgis arc. Nothing you said was news to me and I've not read any of the source material.

The anime anime make Clayman a joke but he is not .... the thing is Shion in her current state is just a hard counter to Claymans powers .... This is a result of her and the others Resurrection as they all obtained the skill Perfect Memory this skill allows Memories and Personality to be stored in the Astral Body ... this Astral body is a container for the Soul ... this makes it so that as long as the soul is intact the being with this skill can be come bact to life easily. if a material body is provided .... It allows the Memories and Personality to be restored this "back up" meaning it also protects the holder from mind manipulation ..... The skill is the result of Raphael acting on Rimmurus desire to not lose the people resurrected again . Which basically makes Shion immune to Claymans powers. And while Clay man is among the weakest of the 10 Demon Lords .... being on the same level as Frey and somewhat weaker in raw power than Carrion ... he is not really weak ... as an illustration the Fox he controls is able to stalemate Ranga after he got his gift from Rimurus harvest festival ... meaning he is capable of controlling being at that level ... meaning if Shion did not have Perfect Memory even if she was able to resist his domination somewhat she would be affected maybe slowed or even paralyzed ... hell anyone bellow Benimaru and Diablo and maybe Shuna (because of her technical skills) would be in the same boat so Soei, Geld, Hakuro etc ... The thing is if Clayman wanted to win he would have tried to dominate Shion Realized its not wroking and then try it on Ranga and either take control or weaken him which would allow the fox to dispatch him .... and then have a 6 on one with Shion which could overwhelm her ... before Beretta and Veldora made an appearance. The thing is Clayman is so confident in his victory because he controls Milim instead of trying to win as fast as possible he is in his mind playing with his food, buying time .... as that is his main goal in this meeting ... (there are a few other reasons he is not thinking clearly here ... some are spoilers) As that was the reason the meeting was called in the first place to draw out the Vampire Demon Lord Valentine and keep him occupied while Laplace sneaks back into the Capital of the Church ... So prolonging the battle he is sure he can win thanks to Milim is for him the obvious choice ... which also demonstrates "his" power to the others. Just as with his speech at the start of the meeting ... He could not know about Rimurus bond with Veldora or Shions immunity to hos power ... or that How strong Berreta was and Guy would actually let him in ... A series of things that he just could not anticipate made him misjudge the situation allowing it to again spiral out of his control. In the novel it was actually basically spelled out that Clayman cant control Milim specifically back when Guy had his meeting with Leon ... when Leon left Guy had a nice little inner monologue where we learn how he became a demon Lord got his name, the relative power levels of the Demon Lords and an info regrading Ultimate skills .... there we learn that Ultimate Skills are gained as an ultimate manifestation of a being will and to even have a chance to gain them the being has to have an incredible strength of will and power ... And that Ultimate skills can be countered by other Ultimate skills only (through actually its more like 97 out of 100 as there are some powerful unique skills that can match up to Ultimates but thats extremely rare) That is why Veldora did not have an Ultimate Skill before while he had the power he was just goofing around rampaging so he never broke through that barrier of will. Guy puts it like this: - which is why the anime cut it out "If Guy could not do it (control Milim) there was no way someone like Clayman could" and a bit later "Anyone spineless enough to be ruled over by conditions like that would never be able to obtain an Ultimate skill in the first place" "Clayman could not do a thing against Milim. Milim was just having him dance on the palm of her hand."

Also most of the people there are Awakened Demon Llords or equal ... with he exception of Frey, Carrion and Clayman and the the male Valentine the substitute DL ... again something we learn from Guys thoughts... He Milim and Ramiris are the first generation and the strongest the Vampire Lady Veldora mentioned that is pretending to be a maid, the Giant, Dino the sleepy one were the second generation awaken or equivalent but not as powerful as the first. then there were later generations of Demon Lords that mostly did not awaken ... that were the ones that came and went, killed and replaced (like Khazalim who was killed by Leon) or swept asside during the Great Temma wars that came around every 500 years. With Leon while being the youngest Demon Lord before Rimmuru an exception as he was a True Hero - as we were told by Ramiris back in Season 1 ... a True Hero is equivalent to an Awakened Demon Lord so he is at that power level with the first and second generation of Demon Lords ... and now Rimuru joins that Club

Thaaaank you. Great comment, that I wish the Bros knew. I'm so happy you added the "other reasons he is not thinking clearly," because....well, yeah. Seasons 1 and 2 are so damn surface level, Tensura ends up giving and giving for so long. Slime Isekai, Spider Isekai, and Jobless Reincarnation are the three anime that have me mentally screaming at the screen, like "Yeah, and that's because....!!" It's a completely different show once ya know. Even just the content cut from this arc would massively alter what viewers got from it. I'm gonna hope that Tensura gets adapted far enough for it to matter, and that the studio works it out so it is still the same story.

@@kallistikaleidI understand that the Anime just cant cover everything in the novel and there is a lot that just would not work in this medium. But at the very least a slide with a bit of info on important skils would be great ... Like they shown the 4 ultimate skills Rimuru has back in the cave, but with some additional info there ... if they had this for the other important skills would have helped a lot. The anime does hint on this enough, with Guy repeatedly talking about Milim actions, and Raphael not finding any spell, in this one we have Veldora commenting on it and Milim nodding to him when he tells her to play for a bit ... after all if she was controlled she would go after Rimuru with Veldora having to intercept her. But yes Guys little inner monologue in the Novel and in the Manga as well does change the stakes and the outlook on things a lot ... but I can understand why the Amine decided to cut it ...

the VA for Clayman is great and that laugh at the end was chilling. Koyasu has done some other chars that I really enjoy. Especially in one of my fav anime of all time, Food Wars where he was Gin.

I duuno if you guys plan on reading thw manga or not eventually but ill say this... the anime i felt unsersold the Walpurgis meeting and fights. Like it was rushed and there was mo much better potential for some of the fights. Mainly because of the way they did the exposition and some of the detailing. The anime fight wasn't bad just felt lacking.

fun fact all the kijin use Japanese cloth because the founder of there villa was an isekai person but shion use a secretary outfit because in the original web novel rimuru say she was very beautiful and will love to have a secretary like her the joke is that she is a trophy secretary AKA she just looks good but cant do any secretary job that is an actual thing in japan and even if the joke did not carried over from the web novel probably because it was sexist it the idea was keep in shion cloth

not rly. in novel is explained. quote from book: Shion has that skill『Perfect Memory』that preserves her memories even after death. In other words, she can exist as a soul alone. So Soul Control Archive abilities are completely ineffective. Moreover, spiritual attack damage is also largely ignored.
