I do like the detail that not all foods make Gochizo, only foods that have emotional ties to Shouma are able to do it, explaining why the bento food didn't make one. Also, him eating slop as a child was probably the Stomach family's way to prevent red Gavvs from discovering their powers.

One thing that I like about Shouma as a protagonist, is that he isn't an idiot cheery goofball like a lot of typical main characters. He's innocent sure, but he's not an idiot. During the battle, he was quite cool-headed, especially before the final attack. He's also taking a somewhat lone-wolf stance on interaction because he doesn't want other people to get involved or hurt.

I also love that he gives the Granute a choice, give up on the Dark Treats and live or refuse and die. Shouma isn't opposed to killing because he knows, it's a necessity.

I'm really digging the show, i love how the goofy/silly aesthetics of the gimmicks and forms make the darker elements of the writing stand out. At the same time the kind stuff they show (Sachika just wanting to help people and that echoing in Shouma) feels earnest and endearing imo.

I do like the pacing of the series so far along with how the powers work. Think this was a good episode and I do look forward to more Gavv.

Yeah this show has much between pacing so far; it’s not rushing anything and giving things times to develop naturally. And having those recontextualisations is great as well.

Something I'm really interested in is the potential loss that Shoma will go through. The thing that really hooked me on that aspect is in the opening during the shot when Shoma is running towards the light but when he reaches out to grab it, it fades away and Shoma cries and falls to the ground as the skies go cloudy. It's got me excited that this might be a bit darker (put it on HBO!!) series later on

It's a well paced, well written show from what we have seen so far. Gotchard was genuine trashfire in contrast

So far, this has been a really solid episode. Alot of intrigue, especially with Shouma's mother. At first I was worried that they would either A. give her the Ash's dad treatment like Houtaro's dad(No I'm never letting that one go) or B. be a straight up retread of the missing mom storyline from Geats(Although I'm 90% certain that she's somehow connected to the Dark Confectionaries). It provides a good explination of his backstory, and an explination on why he has powers based on junk food. I also like that forat least this beginning portion we're setting Shouma up as this wandering hero helping anyone he comes across. It helps to ground him as a kind soul. It also reminds me of the impression Yusuke gave me during the first episode of Kuuga. So far, Gavv is looking pretty interesting.

I get Amazon's vibes with the henshin with his eyes changing color and everything. Also after he kicks their asses and is like hey I'll spare you if you swear off dark treats and then the villain is like fuck no then he's like suit yourself and finishes them off it's like hey I guess your life isn't worth swearing off your addiction

Im watching gavv with my 9 and 10 year old sons and we are all having a blast so far, its really great. Its super fun and silly but during the fights shouma is very serious and i loveeeee it.

We finally have good actors again, and that's great. And Gavv is pleasing, they gave a good excuse for the candy powers for Rider, there are still dark things about where it came from and STOMACH that can help with that, and the potato chip powers are very creative. And how I like this one visual anime by STOMACH, each one more stylish than the other.

I think I'm in on this series. I'm not gonna lie when I say that Gavv's 1st outing wasn't the strongest and kinda generic but the 2nd episode left me with a stronger impression. I believe this is the first time in rider, where we got a protagonist is a fish out of water character. It's not just the alien aspect, as we've had plenty of main riders being non-human and related to the villains, but the way they are playing it as Shouma trying to blend into human society is a dynamic I don't think rider has done before. I actually really like your interpretation of the ability forms relating it to sometimes, certain foods are special to you based on your experiences with them.

5D's. Love the aesthetic and vibe. One of the most consistent stories (at least for most of it) and the riding duels were way cooler than I thought when the first images game out.
