@@krystofcisar469 Most luxuries can only be afford by nobles in middle ages, If you were not one of majority in most western countries prepare for the worst discrimination. nowadays people who are born poor can live like a king, you can achieve it by hard work, smart work or if you got lucky in lottery. back then if you are born as a peasant then you die as a peasant.

Martial arts are founded on biomechanics. An ancient chinese man's body is going to function the same way as an ancient greek man's body. Wrestling is relatively universal, across the board.

Fighting breaks down into three questions: what external object can I hit someone with, what parts of my body can I hit them with, and how can I use their own body against them?

Basically yes. But its far more deep
@boguslav95023 жыл бұрын
Yes and absolutely no. Ancient greeks, europeans, chinese, all 1) looked 2) ate 3) lived 4) have and had different physiologies, all of these are different and influence the body, its structure and thus martial arts. Wrestling as such differs a whole lot. As do all martial arts.

So cool. Just wonder: there are eye poking, headbutting, groin attacking, is there any finger/thumb twisting, or even biting? I think these are also very effective, though forbidden in most modern MMA rules.
@boguslav95023 жыл бұрын
Too hard to pull off, too little payoff. There is a goin attack but as far as getting hold of fingers. Remember this is war. In life or death adrenaline is sky high. People literally do not feel lethal wounds, they do not drop from lethal wounds, they also dont feel minor or severe wounds. People can lose limbs and be totally unaware of it. Broken fingers, compared to the shock of taking a shot to the groin which has a huge amount of nerve endings that cannot be surpressed, are nothing. The person simply wont notice it and he still has four more fingers.

Because it is HISTORICAL wrestling. Nobody say, that it is effective in modern MMA. If you see grafics for japanes fightings 19-th centery, you can find them funny... for modern MMA. But it is Judo now. It is not funny and uses in MMA. Box 18-th centery is VERY funny for modern MMA. But modern box uses in MMA. Historical euripean martial wrestling didn't get development for different reasons.

I find it interesting to se how similar many of the techniques are to chinese martial arts, such as kung fu (shaolin). ame body movement patterns and fast paced "improvised" counters and counter-counters. What is your take on this? How much is actually influenced by "modern" martial arts and how much is actually reenactment?

I know this is an extremely late response, but Historical European Martial Arts (like Ringen) are taken purely from fighting treatises written during the times that the arts were in use.

@42 seconds, probably the only technique that would actually work against an unwilling, resisting opponent. You see it in MMA all the time
@amorfati45595 жыл бұрын
The "only" technique? You don't know what you're talking about. You know there are actual ringen matches in HEMA, right? You also realize these treatises were written by men who had grappling experience in battles or duels, right? If these didn't work, they wouldn't have lived to write them down.
@michaelvendick27855 жыл бұрын
@@amorfati4559 mixed martial arts is the litmus test for today's modern combat. Every branch of the military has scrapped their antiquated hand to hand combat systems in favor of an MMA based approach, why? BECAUSE IT FUCKING WORKS!!! I do know what fuck I'm talking about. If those moves were effective in today's sport combat arena, then you see them in MMA fights. Even grappling competions dont utilize those old ass moves. The science of fighting has moved so far beyond those ancient ringen techniques. Go to Abu Dabi and try that shit and see what happens. You gonna get heel hooked or choked the fuck out. They might work against some untrained goober but you try that crap against someone trained in the modern science of fighting and you gonna get your ass handed to you.
@amorfati45595 жыл бұрын
@@michaelvendick2785 You see a lot of these techniques, guy. There's only so many efficient throws, takedowns, counters, etc. you can really do. That is why most folks wrestling styles, judo, or whatever all look the same. This is just another presentation of the same thing you see in any grappling or wrestling art.
