I have a strong preference for European fighting techniques, I think it's cooler than the Oriental ones. We have to give value to the H.E.M.A., pankration, savate, we have to value the European fighting arts from the oldest to the most contemporary.

Even the most ancient interpretations have value just like the oldest martial arts do.

What a pity that this wasn't part of the "pon far" rituals in Star Trek OST. Or, if not the Vulcan premarital practices, their divorce procedures.

I knew your video for a long time and used it as a stepping stone for my own interpretation of Paulus Hector Mair's Peasant Staff. Today I saw that Skallagrim did link to your video in one of his own (kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5zan3Wef8SEeK8).

Talhoffer wrote that every technique he shows in his books was used by either him or one of his students in real combat.

A good medevial weapon if you could master the technics, as you would with any other weapon. To go into battle welding one of these you would need to be exceptionally skilled.

Other than during training and practice sessions, these contacts ended with one of the participants dead! Judicial combat was certainly gore filled.

Truly horrific outcome for the loser, but both men agree to fight from the outset in the knowledge of what's to be expected! Life was certainly more bloody in those day's of up close and personal combat to the death...

I'm not an expert for Hans Talhoffer's method of Messerfechten, did his system inform later systems of saber fencing? I'm asking because it's hard to deny the similarities. The disarming technique looks exactly like a farspread method of disarming from the late 18th/early 19th century.
