I had 3!!! Baby sulcatas pass away. We did everything right. The exotic vet we saw said that LLL REPTILE (the seller) should have never sent them so young and small. They arrived with the yolk sac still visible. They weren’t even 2 inches long. Very sad. RIP PEARL, SAWYER, and RAY DONOVAN. After that tragedy, we bought some locally and now Gino and Chewy are doing great! I think the shipping of the babies too young and small was just too much for them and they shortly after passed. It’s sad to look back on the footage of them and know that they were really just dying. :( Thanks for the video Kenan! Xo

@ChunkyManeTheFrenchie5 жыл бұрын
They live in a 5 foot by 3 foot enclosure. A hige hide box to thermoregulate their heat. Their basking bulb provides temps 95-105 degrees. As well as extra strips of UV. They are inside now on top of a huge table. A mix of organic soil, coconut bark, coconut fiber and the chip things mixed for their substrate. They are fed romaine lettuce, red and green leaf, kale, etc. . Grass hay, carrots, bell peppers, strawberries for treats. Bananas sometimes. and we use the calcium mix topping on their food. They are thriving. The ones that passed were just too small/young to make it through shipping and died shortly after. So I’m happy Gino and Chewy are doing great!

Kenan, i know you hear this all the time but you sincerely, truly are one amazing individual. The passion that glows from you is awe inspiring and i mean that with every fiber of my being. Ever since my grandfather introduce me to reptiles at the very sponge like age of 6 i have always had the same passion for these wonderful creatures. I do for them what i can with the money i have now and hope one day that i can have something similar to Kamp Kenan. A sanctuary where i can keep these marvels big and small, safe and endangered, because unfortunately there are not enough people in the world that strive to see these creatures survive. Have a good weekend brother and i hope to see you when my camp opens.

At first I was like, "OMG is that my tortoise!" cause I got one probably from that same hatching. Then you moved your thumb and I could see enough of the shell to know it wasn't. Then you started talking about hatchling failure syndrome and I was like, "OMG is that my tortoise!" despite having established it wasn't. Then right after the video, I had to go check my guy's plastron. Babies are so stressful.

I had 3 turtles all the same size and noticed only one was getting bigger and the bigger he got the more aggressive he became and killed the other two that was in his tank. Now I have him alone in his tank and till this day as soon as he sees me trying to clean him up or change his water he hides or races to Jump in the water. How do I get him to trust me after so many years? As soon as you are inside I see all of yours walking over to you to say hello super friendly.

I'd like to make a suggestion about the sunken plastron of the hatchling. I notice that you don't overfeed your tortoises but they seem to be looking for food whenever I watch your videos. They look like they are foraging and I think this is why they are so friendly when you come around. Perhaps the adults are not getting the vitamins that they need to successfully reproduce. What are the dangers of overfeeding and how do you know when they are eating too much?

But i can honestly say u are really the only one on here as of utubers with there reptiles thats actually doing it right. With being natural enclosures and giving them there enrichment they need. I hope hope one day even if im old and grey to be able to do half of what your doing and what u have done
