What a perfect addition! And you can actually SEE him! Usually water in this kind of habitat is so tannin stained it's like strong coffee and you get a perfect mirror, but everything IN it is invisible. It'll get overgrown with algae, but right now his shell looks like a tropical wood carving.

7:10 All the bumpy rough scutes and crevices on the mata mata's skin and carapace quickly collects algae crud and debris that settles in the crevices. That probably helps algae attach and grow on the skin and shell. These turtles literally become part of the environment.

The world could use another Mata Mata breeder, so that the can stop being taken from the wild. Only very recently were they able to be consistently bred and last I checked I could count on one hand how many people in North America were able to get them to lay viable eggs. I'm sure that number has gone up slowly though!

Canon I wanna suggest to you that you get a polarizing filter for your cameras slash phone camera Which will allow us viewers to see what you see underwater above water. In other words this filter will cut out the glare from the sun reflecting off the top of the water preventing us from seeing what's under the water like you can up close. I think that'll improve your video presentations for us viewers. Thanks Have a great day And I hope that's helpful.

Kenneth I've been meaning to mention to you that you might want to add ghost shrimp to your various pods their native to America they're almost translucent To transparent, and they make great algae eaters and clean up crew To help break down detritus such as leaves and other stuff waste in your ponds and streams and aquascapes. this way to raise them is start them out in a tub so that you get a bunch of them and then inoculate every pond that you have they don't travel on land so they're not gonna escape and infest the wall Neighborhood. And since there are native species as far north as I believe the Carolinas in southern Maryland Virginia Maryland they can survive in barrackish water and if we're a limited time in saltwater but generally they're freshwater species brackets water species. I believe they can also be found in the Delmar Peninsula area. There have been reports that some have been found as far north as New England but they don't seem to last very long unless there's like a really warm winter in New England I believe they travel N via Ducks and geese and other coots and such waterfowl as the eggs and the babies get stuck in the feathers and take a ride. The other thing you should add to your system but double check with add our freshwater muscles and clams native to the area the only concern I would have is that they might get into your pumps and fowl them up somehow but there might be a way to put a screen filter to keep the larva out and therefore the adults won't form.

In sumo, the gyoji (referee) says "matta matta" for a false start, but screams "TACHIAI" on a good match start. Imo Tachiai (ta-chi-eye) would be a cool name for such an insanely cool turtle.

I’m telling you Kenan you need to contact the people at C.A.R.E.S or the local aquarium society near you to get south or Central American fish that are threatened or endangered to put in those ponds. You can help to be an assurance colony for some species that way.

Don't worry about him eating the Cichlids. Convict Cichlids are very very prolific at breeding. Most aquatic shops in the UK won't stock them because they don't want to deal with the fry/Juveniles being brought in all the time. They literally breed every 4 weeks he couldn't eat them all even if he wanted to. The Acara on the other hand might take a hit.
@hooktraining396611 ай бұрын
If it was almost anything but convict cichlids I would say he would destroy their population in a few weeks but yeah they breed WAY too fast
