Hey everyone and welcome to Railroads Online! After 50 episodes we have finally connected the last of the industries together and can start delivering some of that super valuable oil! Now the only thing left to do is recruit a bunch of friends to run all the industries and make some crazy money!

Hey Hyce, I have a suggestion for something to be added to the game. The state I live in never had 3 foot gauge railroads, the narrow gauge here was 2 feet. The biggest 2 footer, Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes, had little Ford railbuses. The WW&F railroad museum has one. I just think it would be cool to have in there.

7:30 there was an instance of a train carrying nuclear cargo on its own. The engineer got out to flip a switch and couldn't catch up with the train, he was the only person operating it

In one of Hyce's Q&A videos, he said that they hope to be able to convert the old track so that people don't have to start over, but it could go either way I think.

Enjoying the series! Since all the industries are connected how about getting Dapper and Hyce together and you all run your own trains to refill industries at the same time -- would require coordination as you all have trains rolling around the map and sharing lines at points. Even if a head-on collision between an iron ore train and lumber train would be amusing...

4:15, You can just pull forward, then run backwards onto your main loop around the freight Depot till you are past the junction you are headed to and then pull forwards, straight onto the same path you're on from there.

When I buy new cars, I've been placing Betsy on the first spawn track and using her to kick the cars down the line two at a time to a waiting engine. Saves a bunch of time!

I know for “live steamer” style ride-on miniature railroads they have switches with MECHANICAL levers that allow them be operated from a station a fixed distance ahead or behind the actual switch so the engineer or brakeman can simply reach over to flick it as they approach. I’d presume that kinda lever would be too heavy to operate consistently without hopping off or stopping at real scale, but maybe It’d work, and such a lever could CERTAINLY be used to operate an old-school mechanical semaphore signal, which would make it easier to see if the switches are correct from a distance

At my railway the station switches are all water operated with their signals, and the yard/non station switches are hand thrown with a small lever. Edit: There is a signal box near the station that controls the water switches.

@@wilks3620 Yeah, hydraulic- and pneumatic- controlled switching would almost certainly be in-period for the later stuff in game, and would be awesome, and any kind of physical remote switches & signals would be extremely useful for folks playing singleplayer or low-player multiplayer, and I don’t think they’d mess with the aesthetic if they still ultimately require the engineer or brakeman to hop off the train (or an actual person playing switchman and listening for whistles) and manually switch them. “wireless” remote switching, like it sounds like a lot of mods do, seems out of style for what the base game is going for, but I think anything where the switch or signal is physically linked to the remote switch box, be it by mechanical levers or pulleys & cables, pnematics or hydraulics, would be fine.

It's 12 crude to 10 refined. So 20 cars of crude oil for 4 cars of oil barrels with 16 barrels leftover.

Since your tank cars are only loaded on he return, you can coast back down. Otherwise, you're looking at a Shay, Heisler or Climax geared loc0 which can handle up to 11% grades. One thing for certain...you need a crew.

Kan, it looks like you will need to make a small ladder yard at the oil refinery so you can bring in a big load, then break them down with a shunt engine ^.^

Hey! GMTA. I built through that cut as well to take a line over to the Refinery. Also putting a line in that goes through that big Valley in the SW corner that comes from the Oil Field and hooks on to the line that heads up to the Refinery. It's a long scenic alternate route just for fun really. Edit: I'm sure you figured it out already but it's $25 for every Crude Oil delivered, not $15. 1 Tank Car is worth $300

You might not want to go to highspeed operations. The distances between destinations are too close. Meanwhile, you need a couple of short run-around sidings to allow head-ending the engine. (BTW: top speed for geared locos is 20mph)

Back in the day, you would have a signal man who would sit in a signalling office, connected to all the track points ‘switches’ in an area, they would know the routes and times and flick the switches that were mechanically connected to the track. A train would never be left unattended, each locomotive would have a team of two, one driver and one fireman who would be in charge of fire and water. A whole train would also have a ‘guard’ or brakeman who would sit in the ‘brakevan’ or caboose at the back and control the emergency breaks on the train.

You need to just do a vid where you fully stock every industry until they're 100% full, *THEN* you do a vid showing how much you would make if you went from start to finish. Logs->Lumber->Smelter->Iron->Coal->Oil->Refinrery and then finally sell it, and see the total amount of money you make
