Jungle and forest life says otherwise. It says survival of the fittest where the strongest and the most intelligent wins, the other one dies, many times a cruel death. People are always pushing our social cues on animals when the meaning for them is completely different or doesn't exist for them at all. Like smiling with teeth showing etc. This sort of logic is dumb and dangerous even if it can sometimes lead to funny videos. People should really be more informed on this sort of stuff.

@@truthteller9834 that wasn’t a lean for affection, that was him gripping to attack with his forepaws, a common method roo’s use before literally flattening its victim. @@sudhakhristmukti1930 What a maroon. I have many pets and I can assure you Nick is quite correct. Good chance the video was cut off where it was because in the following seconds the roo put the guy in the hospital and they wanted to be able to post the video without it being taken down or ruining the narrative. Kangaroos are excellent swimmers and it didn’t need any help. Furthermore, kangaroos are confrontational animals, very strong, and do not have the rational thought processes of humans. It was definitely preparing to deliver some kicks after they had manhandled it onto dry ground against its wishes. Whether he carried through and did so, we may never know as they cut the video abruptly. Pretending the world is gentle, made of cotton candy and jelly beans, etc. is an immense mistake. Any creature living in this world is the result of surviving the climb up Darwin’s blood soaked ladder and only very, very, very unusual circumstances lead to any sort of bonding across species. This situation was not one of those. Spend some time educating yourself on the realities of the world rather than wearing rose colored blinders.

My gut feeling - he isn't thanking you - that's a human sentiment. He sees you as a potential threat, guys, and considering holding you to throw a strong leg-punch while standing on his tail (watch - it - it's already prepared). And he is holding you so you won't get out of the way of the punch. And the only reason he hasn't done it - he is either severely tired from the time in the water or still considering his chances in the fight where he is outnumbered. But it's not a thank you hug / handshake for sure.
