I said this 100x destiny is an mmo that has no gatekeeping tbh. You know what helps with that? Sherpas! OMG if only other games will do the same and reward veterans with teaching new players. I have been through it all. I have done the pugging prog group method and it is awful. The reason it is awful is because the group you start with is most likely not the group you will end with. Mixing progging with people that might have more exp than you leads to 3 fails then you need to find a new group. This makes the experience really awful. Now my experience having someone that teaches you do the raid, a sherpa, now that makes the experience way better.

left lost ark permenantly now, even after being a whale and helping newbies. Oh well, let the game rot! Enjoying tf out of Elden ring though!

i mean yes theoretically you can get into the group but as soon as your progress does not match the least they expect for that ultimate you are getting kicked (low parse) ... dont get me wrong i get your point in the end all the factors are shifted from a bunch of vertical systems prechecks* (gems, cards , ilvl etc) to simply how good can you play your class and some materia slots; but the closest to this especific case you imply would be a pf of any hell content and not current endgame stuff, if you where to do the current endgame raid series from ffxiv on any party they would check how many pieces of gear you already have or if you at least got the crafted set with some average melds on before going in. both games need improvements on various cases, at the end it is a matter of which one appeals to you the most. or play them both if you have the money / time.

I mean... I'm a month late but like, why should anyone expect that in a game, if people are trying to prog one of the hardest fights in the game, you should be allowed to join their group if you are not at their prog point or later? God knows how much time those guys spent getting up to the advertised prog point. Also, dps, you should know your rotation at a basic level, don't even need to optimize, just know at a basic level how to press your buttons because you're going into the game's hardest content. That's actually the only place that it matters!

@@Byakuyabou2 it would, you just replace those who are not up to par, just like ffxiv people back out and kick them and find a new person. The problem is people are entitled and can't just relax and wait.

And then you spend 6 hours trying to reclear M4S because people who have no clue how to play the game join the lobby, but yes at least you didn't get gatekept!

Imagine getting gatekept, then still spend 6 hours trying to reclear cuz people are still bad.. Gatekeeping doesn't solve that issue so its just an extra barrier lol

that system is impossible to implement in LA. first, LA has gates. you may be able to finish the first gate but got jailed to 2nd. second, LA raids are so hard. with the coming of thaemine and echidna it become extremely harder for casual. third, are the carry-mentality and bots are present in LA

I truly believe you have NO idea how difficult some of FFXIV’s ultimates are? You could see gates as prog points, which the partyfinder in FFXIV do have. People are at different prog points all the time, you ‘just apply’ to the lobby. That’s it. No gatekeeping. Has nothing to do with LA having gates or being hard. I’m 100% sure FFXIV has harder raids 💀

but the moment you get jailed in LA, let just say g2, that's pretty much game over. no gold for that week on that gate, no loots, no cards and less item requirements for the progression system which will leave you to be gatekeep more next week. you can't even take a day break on that game

Lol u think lost ark raids are harder than savage and ultimate raids in ff the only thing that comes close is hell mode and no one plays that shit.

i didn't say that ff raids are "NOT" hard or LA raids are harder, what i said is LA raids are hard especially for a new/casual player. read again.

I won't defend Lost ark Monetization but I will defend Lost ark Raid design, there's a reason why Lost ark Raid design is unmatched even by Wow and FF14. The difficulty in Lost ark is much higher than any other mmo when it comes for the Casual player to clear that's why gatekeeping is so much more prevalent in that game. Also the game isn't Tab target so the average player can't just Macro their skill and just press 1 button. Bosses don't stand still, they move and are mobile, your skill are bound to miss. Echidna for example used to have a Brutal dmg reflect that was soo fast that you needed to be really good at the game to react. I was watching Kanima do raids in ff14, and holy shit are the players soo fucking bad that they can't react to a telegraph that takes 5 second to build up.

Lost Ark is definateley killed with the latest LOA ON 2024, unfortunately nothing else to play in MMORPG genre but at least it's summer so gaming off mode for me :)
