I have been a mechanic/technician for 30 years. (not now) I used to do many clutches 'on my back' at nights and weekends, so I know first hand how hard this is. 90% of the guys I have worked with over the years couldn't do what you do in a fully equipped cosy workshop. Respect to you. Keep going. Just hope you have a master plan. You don't want to be doing this in your fifties!

I remember back in my 20s, muscling up a transmission into the splines with just a regular jack and some wood. Boy those days are long gone. The body just can't handle it anymore.

Totally agree, time is ticking, and with that kind of effort he is dealing with. I mean he's making several clutches per week. In a shop you have maybe one per week, if not less. I mean brakes and oil changes, exhausts etc. are easy when it comes to comparison with clutches.

Having fitted clutch's in for over 30yrs, 7 days a week, your arms/hands/shoulders wear away, working in the rain/snow/boiling hot sun hits you, I'm now 64 and out of the game, invest your money Kevin in property, that is what I did. but I must say, them power tools take the sting out of it, never around when I did this job.

D’day to you Bill. That bit of attachment that you mentioned makes all the difference.., it only occurred to me last year that by removing that part I can fully remove the gearbox rather than leave it partially on the subframe. But the newer version from 2019 onwards are much easier underneath but very complex at the top end. As can be seen in the specific repair video I made last month. Hope you’re keeping busy your end. And getting in nicely with the cars you’ve got up on the ramp.

Hitting the bolt with a running M12 will often break it loose. Notice how he does that. The ratchet has twice the power that way. On the high up bolts, I would often use two impact universals. The half inch gun has the beans to break em loose and spin them off. Saves loosening with a wrench or ratchet and then having to grab the M12. Super trick on releasing the inboard CV joint. Using that big chisel like a pickle fork. Gonna do that on my next Scion driver's side axle. No place to pry, at all. Another good one is the leg over the bar to keep control arm down while r and r ing the ball joint, especially the ones with the pinch bolt system. Hate that one. Love the three bolt ones on the Toyota. Battery trays r nasty. WD on the threads from the bottom when u can. Surprised u didn't bust out the K heater. Working the bottom with the hood closed, sweet! Have a great day! I have the same Mac 3/4 impact uni. U must have broke or lost yours. You're using one with 3 ground ID marks now. Miss the old one

I'm having major problems with the smg transmission its very jerky when going into reverse and also going forward. It's so jerky that its impossible to drive then on the car screen I will get error messages "transmission malfunction" drive slow. That's what it says also the car has a completely dead battery. I'm thinking the battery and alternator are not providing enough power for the smg to work correctly because I was reading some forms and it happened to a guy who had a m3 . Is there any helpful information you can give me or point be where I can find some answers . Also smg pump is fine because I can hear it primping before starting the car. @@WMCS Yes, last fall I took the original box of the car down, I changed bearings that come stuck near stage 5. The problem was, the rumble of bearing after 60km / h ... After I changed, for 4 months it went ok, until 1 week ago when it started again .... I think it's the problem with other bearings ... and so I chose to buy another box. I cleaned it, I made it like new and it will be climbed up. Thank you for your support. I'm close to any video. Good luck with that

So is this more economical/practical than getting towed to a shop? I guess it has to be since there's business but it's a little surprising to me. Love the content keep up the great work!

Kev your work ethic is amazing. But have you given any thought about the massive effect electric cars will have on the industry. No clutches on them. Very limited maintenance at all. Great video's Kevin keep it up.

Hey Martin. Thanks for the feedback. I actually have. It came about when a customer said the battery life of her Nissan was expiring. And had been charged over £5k for a new battery and the work. I had a look at it and thought. This is my next game. Electric cars battery replacement. They only have life span of about 5-10years. So yep I’m on it.

Amazing work as always. No Range Rover tho? I really want the new Milwaukee Mid torque gen 2. Very curious if it will shift flywheel and driveshaft bolts. Have you seen the beast yet? Just released.

You get through some clutches 😂 I know you don’t do automatic’s, but I’m having a bit of a nightmare .. Ford Focus 2.0 powershift transmission . Slipping in 3rd & 5th .. and transmission malfunction on the dash . Plugged it into my diagnostic scanner and coming up solenoid C stuck off . Took the valve body off and the got to the mechatronics , cleaned the solenoids as best as I could and it’s improved a lot however still slipping in odd gears , but pulls well in even gears no problems. Am I looking at new clutch .. I believe they have 2 for odd and even gears ? Any advice would be much appreciated :)
